I think this will be a good game, I wish I could see it. I hate to say it, but I'm afraid Ironton has a little too much for The Burg, again this year. But, I don't think it will be a Blow-Out, it's hard to beat The Burg at home, let alone Blow them out.
Even at that, I am pulling for The Burg, I love to see an SOC II team get a big win. And this would be a Monster win this year!!

Good luck to Both teams, keep it safe!!!!

Ironton - 56
wheelersburg - 6

I honestly think this Tiger team would beat most College Division III teams.

I'll take that 50 point spread for $100. You game or just like running your mouth?
I want in on that also! 50 points and Burg.
I'm thinking we have another fool fan. The ones that the real fans stay away from. Ask any Ironton fan and they'll roll their eyes
and say, what a moron! Burg has em' EVERY school has em.
Some just want to post outragous scores to get others going.
i'll take some of that also

Should be good game by 2 good programs, but I think Ironton has to much fire power this year. Ironton wins 28-13

It's funny how some Ironton posters put on here that the Burg runs there mouth about how good the Burg us, yet you don't see but a few Burg people (not even sure if they are really Burg fans) predicting a score, yet you see ALOT of Ironton posters predicting huge scores and a blowout win and giving the Burg hardly any respect.

If you go by the 5-15 record Burg has in this series, you would be mistaken. This series could easily be 9-11 or even 10-10. Burg has let a few games slip away from them.

Like was said above, if Burg can control the clock, this could be a great game, coming down to the wire. If Burg tries to get in a track meet with them, it could be a long night for them.

I guess we'll find out for sure in 3 days.

Good luck Pirates

Ironton by 2 or more TDs. Disiplined line play and great talent in the backfield.

I agree with Sider Ironton is good but not nearly what they were in the 80S and 90S but they are still southeastern ohio good not very good after you get past about week 12.

thats funny clbbig. have you ever visited ironton football.com. you'd see how many times we've been past week 12. and how many championship games we've been in , i'm not talking league championship games. i'm talking state title games. not talking s#%%$ either. we have the winningest coach in the state of ohio , and in like the top 20 in the nation. we have won more playoff games , than probably 75% of the state has even been to playoff games. i know you're trying to be cute. but know the facts , then get back with me. this football season is gonna be alot different for me, i'll not be drawn into these mindless stupid arguments like before. and i love all the local teams and wish them all great success, except for the week, they play my fighting tigers. but nothing is more important right now, not all the history, hype, and playoff records, none of it is as important as taking one play, one series, and one game at a time. so nothing is more important right now than the wheelersburg pirates.ytb.

with ironton being only 5 males away from falling into division 5 , i think they play a ridiculously stout schedule year in and out. i don't think anybody can deny that.

Any life of an average Ironton defense.... Ironton will win and hopefully improve on defense as the season moves on and a couple banged up players can see some time and make some difference. I also hope to see the kicking game get some improvement.. Two point conversions... They are exciting, but too predictable... rock on tigers.

siderman wrote:Maybe I'm out in left field, but watching Ironton the last couple years in the playoffs makes me think their very good, but not anything like the juggernauts that they were back in the 80's and 90's. They don't have the individual talent or the depth that they used to. They have a great system and one of the best coaches ever, but they are very beatable. I don't know whether Ironton fans are trying to convince themselves or everyone else that it is 1990 again, but it isn't. There are no Jermon Jackson's, Walt Delong's, etc, etc playing there. Listening to Lutz give the interview on Ironton.com it seems very clear that he thinks the same. Even though they still have above average talent at alot of places, they still have alot of holes to fill.

I believe Wheelersburg will be better this year than what some are expecting. They have a good line, backs, system, and a good coach. They have alot of pride and will compete. But the size and strength of Ironton will win it in the second half. I would say it will be a good ballgame though.
I watched the interview and I do agree Coach Lutz does seem to be worried about his Defense play.

Coach Lutz always seems to be worried about every game...and every aspect of every game until the game has been played...That is what makes his teams as good as they are...I remember back when I was playing, Portsmouth was hyped up as such a great team that year..we were told that they might be the best team on our schedule...we were up 21 to nothing at the half..Coach lutz came into the locker room and laughed and said: "Portsmouth...HA HA"..."

As far as my prediction..

This game is usually always close..I don't remember a shoot out...if there was one...it's been a while...
With that all being said...I didn't see any defense in the Coal Grove scrimmage for Ironton..and from what I have heard..the burg looked worse than Ironton did...With this being said...Ironton has an offense that can score at will against most competition...

I always want to put a big score up in this game when it looks like this...but it never turns out to be that big of a blowout...That being said...

Ironton...33
Burg...7

As far as having a perfect season...I would go at least 89% that Ironton would win their 10 regular season games..with the question mark beside Ashland...Schedule strength will improve as the season goes on...I don't see too many teams on the schedule that won't at least go .500...most will be playoff contenders..

From an Ironton fan, I see this being a scoring fest. Our defense didn't impress me at the Grove but our offense clicked well. The Burg is always loaded with elite athletes and I bet this year is no different.

I will say this.....there was a "tl895" on this board that is an Ironton fan. The person posting now has the name "tl985"....It is either the same guy or someone created a username to try and make Ironton look bad, which is highly possible.
