Week 2 Ironton (1-0) @ Russell, KY (0-1)
i don't really know anything about russell this year. but i know the fighting tigers need to start sticking people in the numbers when they tackle, and wrap up. and we sure could use a placekicker. but we are huge and have speed. and will only get better. sure would like to see wilks, and brown get to use the wide side of the field, and make some moves. good luck to the ironton fighting tigers. beat them red devils.

Re: IRONTON @ RUSSELL, KY. FRIDAY, YOUR THOUGHTS.
Russell opened up against East Carter with a 35 - 6 win. It appears that they play Greenup County tonight instead of Friday. East Carter has a 'bye week' this week so their record remains at 0 - 1
Re: IRONTON @ RUSSELL, KY. FRIDAY, YOUR THOUGHTS.
Russell got hammered tonight by GC for the first time in years. Make no mistake, GC is a team on the rise but Ironton will have no trouble with Russell.
Re: IRONTON @ RUSSELL, KY. FRIDAY, YOUR THOUGHTS.
Greenup County 28 Russell 6
Gonna be a long two hours for the Red Devils come Friday night!

I know this is probably a big money game, but Russell is obviously not your big brother's state title contending Russell. Just seems like a wasted game.

CalPreps has Russell, Chillicothe and Gallia listed as Ironton's three weakest opponents for this season. They (calpreps) don't even have the week 9 opponent listed in their info but I'm sure they would be included in those weaker teams.
The Tigers already have one win over one of the highest rated teams they face (Alder, Wheelersburg and Portsmouth) and Portsmouth struggled with Wilmington last night so it seems that Alder is the only threat to TigerMan's undefeated season..... and even Alder is only rated 1/2 a point higher than Wheelersburg.
Ironton is a big, strong and fast team and I don't see them having much trouble with any of their remaining schedule. Looks like pretty clear sailing right on into the playoffs.
Highest-Rated 2010 Regular Season Opponents: Alder [Jonathan] (24.6), Wheelersburg (23.9), Portsmouth (22.2)
Lowest-Rated 2010 Regular Season Opponents: Russell (KY) (-11.1), Chillicothe (-4.6), Gallia Academy (Gallipolis) (7.4)
Note that Russell (-11.1) and Chillicothe (-4.6) have MINUS rated numbers.

Doesn't Russell get credit for the East Carter win? I have them at 1-1
Re: Week 2 IRONTON (1-0) @ RUSSELL, KY (0-1)
I don't know. Unless they learn to tackle a little better, Russell could surprise everyone. :P

This one should be one ya take care of biz in. Need to work on tackling better, executing all together and maybe dare I say a kicking game! Would like to see us open it up a bit with our backfield speed and spread the field some.

Re: Week 2 Ironton (1-0) @ Russell, KY (0-1)
This should be a week of really working on the weaknesses for the Tigers...They need to work on the kicking game...tackling...other than Warner and Lawless..I didn't see anyone stick anyone from the good guys side...and other than spalgeric..I didn't see our line fire off the ball all night long...They need to learn to watch the ball when they are on defense and not stand straight up and catch the player across from them..once they learn that..they will be a different team...and for the defensive backs..they just need to stick some people...I couldn't believe they allowed the burg recievers to catch the ball in between three defenders and no one tried to knock their head off...all I saw most of the night was attempts at arm tackling...I am sure it is the first game and most of that will be worked out in the next couple of weeks..but I hope this week we do see much improvement...eventhough...the burg was a much better team than I thought they would be..I think once they get the mistakes worked out of their game...they are going to be a tough team to take out...However..I really expect better from the tigers...and I am sure they will show us much improvment each week...They have the best coach in Ohio teaching them..how could they not improve..?

From what happened this past week I will say Ironton by whatever they want it to be.
