Week 2 Ironton (1-0) @ Russell, KY (0-1)
Re: Week 2 Ironton (1-0) @ Russell, KY (0-1)
Please consult KVDW's post above which expresses the opinion that ALL Ironton opponents [KY or otherwise] are just PUSHOVERS, unworthy of respect or consideration as opponents - so Ironton's record is a joke??

Re: Week 2 Ironton (1-0) @ Russell, KY (0-1)
I strongly suspect that the Ironton Fighting Tiger players began taking games SERIOUSLY weeks ago when practice first started - or even earlier when they first dreamed of "making the team" and began conditioning themselves to achieve that goal. How can you think that any athletic kid in Ironton EVER mentally "blows off" the quality of the competition and considers winning a "given"? Just making the team - let alone playing in or winning a game - requires effort, dedication, and practice. NO game is ever a PUSHOVER - and woe to the team or player that ever thinks so.

I have it from a very reliable source that Trevor White will be the kicker.

I know who it is. I was told Steve Shelton, a former Ironton kicker, has been tutoring this young man.
86tiger you are right about Trevor doing some kicking. Saw him kick an extra point in a grade school football game once. I think he was in the 4th grade at the time. He has been fighting the injury bug but should be back soon.

I believe KVDW's post was in reference to Ironton's SCHEDULE ..... not their RECORD.caglewis wrote:Please consult KVDW's post above which expresses the opinion that ALL Ironton opponents [KY or otherwise] are just PUSHOVERS, unworthy of respect or consideration as opponents - so Ironton's RECORD is a joke??
I can understand how people your age are easily confused.

This one has potential to be real ugly once again. 45-0 last year, and I see it being somewhere along those lines again this year.
I'll say this years score will be :
Ironton 42
Russell 14
GO TIGERS!!!

It was not Trevor White kicking, It is John Williams. And he looked like he will do a great job.

2:30 PM Weather - It is raining here in Ironton [and even though our yards and gardens need the rain/water badly] - must it come on a football Friday afternoon/evening? Ironton is playing "away", but not very far away geographically, at Russell so it's probably raining there too.
Hopefully this is a fast-moving storm generated by Hurricane Earl that will not linger long above us. The field will probably end up still affected, though - potentially damp/slippery/windy conditions at game time - even if it's not actually storming/raining then. GO IRONTON FIGHTING TIGERS

No problem with the rain. Some of us haven't even been to an IHS football game in the last 5-10 years.caglewis wrote:2:30 PM Weather - It is raining here in Ironton [and even though our yards and gardens need the rain/water badly] - must it come on a football Friday afternoon/evening?

had to listen to this one on the radio. but the radio said russell fans began leaving with 7:17 left on the clock in the 4th. they must have missed 2 very spirited russell 4th downs they attempted and made. geesh, in a close game like that.

Just got back from the game. Ironton offense was decent, not the best we could do but ok. Doesn't seem like we have any backs that will hit the hole and block for our runners. Ironton defense, especially our left side, needs some help. Russell called that dive and the sweep to the right the entire game and got a good 7-8 yards most of the time. Kicking game was a lot better in the 2nd half, poor Trevor.
Don't expect us to be kicking any FGs anytime soon, though.

Nice night for watching a game; maybe a little warm for the players.
Much more competitive game than most expected. I think the question still hasn't been answered: Is Ironton nowhere near as good as the pre-season hype predicted, or are Wheelersburg and Russell considerably better than expected?

I use that same picture of Bubbles for another site. Gotta love Trailer Park Boys. Glad the Tigers won tonight, missed this game I was in Tampa.frank-n-beans wrote:I-town by a large amount
