Clay beat them in the superscrimmage without a key player, but then NB looked like a completley different team when they played the Burg, so I expect it to be a very close match. Might come down to which goalie can make the saves.
Clay has been passing and moving the ball around very well, even in their 9 - 0 loss to SW they moved the ball well at times.

Clay is a good team but New Boston always give them a run for the money. Hard to predict. ??

although both teams are a little on the weak side, this game could be a decent one. New boston has speed up top and clay has the best girl player in the league with curly, which she might perhaps be the best player on clay's team. im gonna say nb wins 3-1

No doubt that Curly is one of the best girls in the league as a freshman, I haven't seen all the girls play on other squads but she is very impressive, especially considering her age. As for her being the best player on Clay's team, I think you must have some issue with the boys on the squad. AJ Keeton is one of the better defensive players in the league, Eli Kelley and Chase Hiles are both quick and athletic, Jon Valentine is one of the better players in the league as well. I think Clay takes this game if only due to home field advantage, but it will be close.

Curley probably has the most skill for clay(Passing and handling) but Valentine and Kelley seem like they are gonna be the scorers for clay this year. Not taking away from anyone but clay has 4 or 5 pretty good players but these three seem to be the key.

New Boston 6
Clay 2

Clay controlled the game the first half and out shot NB 14 to 7. Held a 1 - 0 lead until NB socred at the end of the half off a free kick that rattled around in the box and should have been cleared.
Second half, Clay was missing their 2 best defensive players. One with a head injury and one for who knows why? The subs aren't fast enough to play the trap game that the coach wants them to run and NB scored 4 goals, all on breakaways. Clay had a third goal, but the ref didn't call it. The ball clearly was in the goal and cleared out by NB, but he didn't give them the call. Of course he also couldn't see that Clay's goalie came out of the box and picked up the ball. I am not sure how well he could actually see.
With the starters in Clay wins this game but NB has more depth and Clay will have to learn to adapt their style of play on defense by who in on the field. It was obvious Clay's defense had no chance of keeping up with NB's attack.
One suggestion would be to put the subs in midfield or up front and drop back your speedier players to play defense while you give kids a rest. You hurt your scoring ability but you also won't give up 4 quick goals like they did last night.

Please don't make excuses for the loss! Teams play without better players all the time. You can say, if, if , if all day long and it won't change the outcome. Congrats Tigers! The next time you both play it may be different. Good Luck to both the Tigers and Panthers the rest of the way.

Excuses? I didn't think I made any. Just my opinion of the game. Clay controlled the entire first half, when the heat and fatigue and injuries called for subs, NB had a deeper bench and that is when they won the game. That is not an excuse, just the facts. It's no wonder no one post anything in this forum anymore.

Not that is matters, but I kept count and it was 14 shots to 7, although each goalie only had about 3 saves in the first half. Everyone is so anal in this forum. I am not slighting NB in anyway. I was trying to point out that NB strength (and Clays weakness) was in their subs. Why is that offensive, or considering making excuses. NB scored 4 goals while the boy who "stayed and played" with a small cut was out. Obviously the subs for the boy who went to ER to get his head looked at did a good job. It's a compliment to NB depth. I don't know what else to say. I guess I could join everyone else and say nothing, which is exactly why no one posts anything about soccer on this forum.

I would like to apologize for thinking that you were making excuses. I
appreciate you taking the time to post what happened. Good Luck to your Panthers!

Thanks acm. I know there is a lot of negative comments in here (just go to the football post!). I heard a few NB players got banged up and hope they are all well. We look forward to the next match and hope everyone is healthy.
