Good win for Valley and another win for the SOC II over the OVC.

SOC II is looking like the premiere conference in southern Ohio this year. It will be a tight race.

I knew Coal Grove, even though some of their fans on here disputed it, lost a TON of talent from last year while Valley got older and better. I picked Valley to win, but this score is shocking.

First off, congrats to the Indians on a very convincing win. #23 is a straight-up beast but it's just a talented, talented team overall. Can't wait to see that West/Valley game go down. Coal Grove was flat tonight. They didn't seem prepared at all. Too much standing around waiting for the play to come to them on defense - can't do that against a good team. They were on roller skates all night. Pass defense was a joke. Didn't understand why Woods got so many inside carries on offense. Overall, a very disturbing loss, but both teams reaped what they sowed. The next two games will make or break CG's season. Hopefully this woke them up.

Man oh man!!! That was just an old fashioned, out behind the barn, butt whoopin' put on the Hornets by the Indians. I have a feeling the Indians just might run the table this year. They seem to be that good.

Congrats on the win Indians. Way to represent the SOC!!

They have a very athletic secondary that is physical. The QB is very quick, makes good decisions, and has a strong arm. I look for Valley to beat Grove by at least 2-3 scores. I think CG's best bet is to try to control the tempo and not get into a scoring fest with this team.
It looks like I knew what I was talking about. I find it very funny that everyone thinks RH sucks because they were down 21-6 at half-time against Valley.....Valley and Oak Hill are very good football teams. It looks to me that the OVC is wide open with no real threats for the post season. I see the OVC a three team race between CG, RH, and Peake.

Overall, I'm not surprised by this result. I believe CG lost too much to compete with a Valley team that had a lot returning. Congrats to Valley on the win.

Valley could run the table this year IF they focus 1 game at a time....may be the year to get the Burg....

Figured this would be a close game, Valley just overwhelmed and dominated Coal Grove at every phase of the game. Valley QB & RB very impressive. Much better than I expected being the first time I've seen them play

This edition of the Indians appears to be as good as predicted, could make for an interesting SOC outcome this season.

I thought Valley would be one of the Teams to beat in the SOC II this year.

Wow ! 42-7 at the half I knew Valley would put the pressure on CG's defense but not to that extent. Was'nt at the game but just wondering Valley only scored 7 the 2nd half did CG adjust that well or did Coach Crabtree pull the reigns in on the offense ?

Not sure about valleys coach but the grove did make defensive adjustments at the half and put in different players which helped alot and then started spreading the offense out and then using the big kid inside at tailback. Hope this game will have something good come out of the loss. Valley looked great in the first half and if the grove would have made those adjustments in the first quarter...could have been a total different game.

Valley went a little vanilla in the second half.....they moved the ball fairly east in quarter 2....tured the ball over on downs inside the 10 twice..normally Valley would have attempted a FG or two.

CG did make some adjustments, but it was just too late. Valley didnt have the ball much in the 3rd quarter as one of the possesions was an 85 yard KO return...

I hope CG goes 9-1....Good Luck Hornets!

You sure didn't miss it by much. But, this is the first time SOC team Valley has defeated the Grove in how long? I think 4 years? Anyway, Valley has a great team this year and should easily make playoffs.

football fan,

How many unsportmanlike penalties did the Grove get in that game? Is discipline a big problem at CG?

TigerMack,

Yes it is a problem, and of all people I can't believe what I am about to say but there needs to be a change at the top for the Grove, the past few years the players have showed no respect for coaches or discipline needed to be as successful as the people of Coal Grove want this team to be, and when I say a change, I mean go out of the area and find someone who can demand respect, when players have respect for the coaches they will show discipline on the field. What I saw last night was a team that got down early and just gave up, no denying it, they just quit.

Minford beat the GROVE 4 YEARS IN A ROW AND THE HEAD MAN DROPPED THE FALCONS. They were the dirtiest team we would play as well. Must change is need from Father and Son stand point. I have a lot of Grove friends and that is what they are saying and wishing would happen!

I have alot of friends and inlaws from CG too. They are all singing the same tune.

Alot of coaches who come back later on in life are not as effective and passionate as they once were. Those coaches that were once "My way or the highway" start to cater to the parents and even to the kids. Team unity along with respect is lost and although there is plenty of talent, it is not getting utilized.

And IMHO they will be MUCH worse if daddy steps out and they let JR take over. They need a complete overhaul.

Yeah they made the playoffs last year, but they have underperformed for the past 4 years with the high level of talent they had.

As predicted (even worse actually). The SOC is way too powerful for the OVC, period.
