.....hardrock21, I too would like to see an SEOAL title as well..... if we don't make the playoffs but we get that..... that's a step in the right direction. HECK, going 8-2 as opposed to going 7-3 from last year is still a step in the right direction..... any step is good...... but I just feel like we can do it this year even though the odds are against us!

Warren has never won an outright SEOAL football Championship.

I certainly agree they have a great shot at ending that drought this year. This week will be another measuring stick as to how good this Warren team is.

As for the playoffs, if you don't make it a goal I don't think you'll get there very often. But at the same time, all you can do is go out and win games and let the chips fall where they may.

But I don't see a game on Warren's scheduled they can't win.

Warren was tri-champs in 95? Warren Beat Jackson, Jackson beat Logan, Logan beat Warren. I believe that is the way it played out. I am sure someone out there will correct me if I am wrong. I believe that Warren beat Jackson on Homecoming night at Jackson and quite possibly knocked Jackson out of the playoffs with a 9-1 record that year. A scenerio that could possible play out for the Warriors this year like 9-1 Athens not making it last year. A 9-1 Warren team just might not make it into the top 8. Lets take the Athens first, get by them and worry about each game one at a time. Week eleven will have to take care of its-self, if a week eleven is in the cards.

Coached in the playoffs before, it is always fun to participate in week 11, especially when you can be the first in your school's history to do it.

honestly i think this is going to be a good game. warren cant control what is going on when the ball gets to the outside. both the belpre and morgan game showed warren needs to do some defensive work when the ball gets to the outside. so lets see is schob has done the work that is necessary.

Is there any credence to the RUMOR that the game is being played elsewhere due to mudslides at AHS?

It went like this in 95 for warren

Lost 16-0 to Philo in week one, then won against Gallia in week 4 (26-25 in OT)
They ended up losing at Jackson (36-7), which in turn fell to Gallia. Resulting in the three way tie for the league.

Warren got its first victory in Jackson in 1998 (I remember this one vividly), which ended a long home winning streak for the ironmen.

So Warren had a chance to run the ball and take it to the half up 7-0...... called some pass plays with 1:41 left to play in the half, didn't convert. Punted the ball to Athens which in turn ran it back for a 70 yard TD return. 7-6 Warren on a missed XP by Athens.......turns out to be the half time score as Warren tried to do something extra with less than 30 seconds left...... Leffingwell threw an interception and could have shot itself in the foot again. Either plays like this make your coaching staff look gutsy and good, or you shoot yourself and the foot and give momentum to the other team which is exactly what happened. Let's see if Warren can rebound in the second half.

Warren took the opening drive and methodically passed the ball on a 4 minute drive for a TD making it 14-6. Athens answered on their drive with a 60+ yard run to the 3. After some plays they scored and converted a 2-point XP to make it 14-14.

21-14 Athens 2:18 in 3rd...... scored on 1 yard run....... Warren absolutely cannot stop the run tonight...... Athens is just running different run patterns at Warren and is letting them get by on the run.

Leffingwell throws another interception on first pass of the ensuing drive...... receiver (didn't say) didn't catch ball, popped into an Athens players hands....... Warren has had problems catching the ball tonight and running the ball..... Leffingwell has done a decent job putting the ball on target but can't catch the perfect passes. Hardly any yards on the ground. Athens has complete control of this game in the 3rd quarter.
