Thanks for the kind words. And yes, we are very proud of our team AND our coaching staff. There are a couple of other dads and I that have looked forward to this year since biddy league.

Nothing can or will improve at Chesapeake until some willingness to change happens. The boys do what they're told.Congrats to the Mighty Vikings for a great game plan and for outplaying and out COACHing the Panthers on Peake's field.

Chesyfan09,

You must not know much about the history of Chesapeake Football. I don't think Coach Davis and staff forgot everything overnight, where were you when Chesapeake was winning 8+ games a year, the coference every season, going to the playoffs? Coach Davis does an excellent job, and I have great respect for him and his program.

Congrats to the Vikes. I still stand by my point, but that is a very solid team I saw friday---not the best by any means, but very solid all around.

Chasyfan,

You must be a very young student.

Here is a history lesson for you. When Coach Davis took over at Chesapeake the board basically said just help us not be embarrassing anymore. Davis elevated the program beyond expectations. Before he came Chesapeake won all of what 4 OVC titles (one in the 80's, two in the 70's, and 1 or 2 before that). From 1998 to 2004 Chesapeake lost one OVC game (2001 to South Point that they should have won). In 1999 he coached Chesapeake's second undefeated team in school history. In 1996 he took Chesapeake to their first ever playoff game. He has coached some of the best athletes to come through Chesapeake during his career here. He implimented a new offensive scheme that is still used to this day. In 2002 he took Chesapeake to the regional finals.

With all of this being said, I think maybe you should change your attitude on him and his coaching staff. You can't make chicken salad out of chicken you know what. No disrespect to the current team, but the run of athletes that came through Chesapeake from 1996-2005 are not coming anymore. I look at the current roster and I honestly can't count a single player who would start on any of those teams. If I were naming a top 10 at every position not a single current player would make that list. I feel bad for pointing those facts out because I feel like I am putting the current kids down, but really all I am trying to say is that the standard of player then was just that high.

There are no Hunt, Waugh, Fizer, Clark, Issacs, Thornburg, Runyon, Ansell, J. Edwards, J. Ellis, Bear, Z. Waugh, Beach, Best, Brammer, Both Davis twins, etc. Those are just a few names of all of the really good players that have played during the Davis era. The standard of player is not the same, the attitude of the player is not the same, the expectations of the kids are not the same.

I do not fault this staff one bit. This team could be solid, but they have to play their tails off every play for that to happen. I have yet to see this team play their tails off for 4 quarters in any game thus far. I can tell you that the teams I watched that were so successful would never back down and, never quit, and always expected to win. Not the same with this group for the past 3 years or so. Don't get me wrong, this group I heard worked their tail off in the offseason, but it has to translate over onto the field, and it is the kids responsibility to carry that attitude of accountability over.

My two cents.

Coach Davis is a great coach. For him to do what he does in what is really considered a Basketball school is VERY Impressive.
