Re: Ashland (4-0) @ Ironton (3-0)
When the Tomcats woke up on Friday morning, they knew they had a good ball team. When they woke up this morning, they just knew how good Ironton could be. That doesn't change the fact that Ashland is still a very good football team and I wish they don't lose another game all year!
Re: Ashland (4-0) @ Ironton (3-0)
Being a Tiger fan forever seen my first game game tonight (this season) tigers looked very impressive. I think Hunter is a very good qb, looks like they didnt has that stud running game they usually have. Alber last year was a horse. I dont know why some of these people dont give the respect to teams that deserve it, Ashland has a very good looking team, wish you well the rest of the season. I think ashland can go deep into the playoffs.
Re: Ashland (4-0) @ Ironton (3-0)
THANK YOU! For posting something positive about Ashland, all this bashing of Ashland on here does get old. Just my view. I say something positive and all that's said "it's just Ashland" Let me hit you with some reality... The team that's " Just Ashland" obviously will win a lot more games, thus in turn HELP you get points that draws you closer and closer to playoffs. Not complaining, just facts you got to ponder. Thank Ashland and hope they do good the rest of the season... I like Ironton but the majority of posters always have smack to talk afterwards like " go back to the other side of the river where you came from" and yes, it was posted on this thread. It ruins the integrity of the Ironton posters as a whole. Not trying to criticize. Just something I'm noticing. It does get really old.timbo52 wrote:Being a Tiger fan forever seen my first game game tonight (this season) tigers looked very impressive. I agree completely. I just think we got sick and tired of what the media and people on sites like this were saying. Ashland, you can tell, has a very good football team. The Hunter kid is one heck of an athlete. Ironton just came out last night with a chip on their shoulders and wanted to quiet some critics. As an Ironton fan, that's the team I have been expecting all year from us. We just clicked on all cylinders on the right night.
Good Luck to Ashland the rest of the way. Run the tables over there in KY, and give us some MAJOR points.
On another note, it was kind of sad to see so many Ashland fans leaving so early. There stands were almost empty at the beginning of the fourth quarter. I know it was a bad game, but think about what those players think when they look up there and see their "fans" bailing on them so early, has to be disheartening.

but most ironton posters are saying ashland was "over-rated" aren't they ? ..... so maybe they didn't beat such a good team.

Isn't most the majority........I'll bet you that MOST of the Ironton posters never said that at all. I think I read one post that actually said that, which is far from being MOST........KVDW wrote:caglewis wrote:- Ironton beat a very good team tonight --

Make no mistake about it, Ashland has a very good team and they won't lose very many games during the regular season if they lose anymore at all.

make no mistake about it, the teams they'll be playing in regular season and post season will be KENTUCKY teams. get a clue...OHbuckeye1 wrote:

yeah , some are first to say , dont downgrade our kids, but then on about every other thread you can see where the same person is downgrading teams on every other post. not all just a couple most Tiger fans are Class acts and hate when certain posters act like this.

Re: Ashland (4-0) @ Ironton (3-0)
I will say it again. Ahsland was over-rated. Ashland was "supposed" to beat Ironton, yet got WAXED. That means, that evidently, Ahsland was "over-rated".
Ashland's QB is a very talented kid, as well was the #1 WR. But, the backs were young and not very strong, nothing like some of Ashland's backs from the past, ie Blake, Johnson, Thomas, Beach, just to name a few. The O-line was border-line pathetic. The QB didn't have time to even set his feet the Ironton kids were in the backfield so quick. I remember one play in particular that I was certain Ironton was being burnt on a screen because all 4 downlinemen were in the backfield so quickly, it appeared that the O-line were setting up a screen. In fact, it was just incredibly poor blocking. Ashlands blocking was POOR. They didn't block anyone all night long. That is why they were WAXED.
In my opinion, Ashland had a few talented kids, but the O-line was not very good, and when your O-line is not very good, neither is your offense. There have been several years when we were over-rated too, so please do not get all butt-hurt when someone explains to you that after you just got drilled 43-6, that maybe, just maybe, you are not as good as you thought you were.

Re: Ashland (4-0) @ Ironton (3-0)
If you NOTE the date and time on this, it was put up here BEFORE the game, when...everyone was blasting Ironton and telling everyone that the kids on Ironton's team didn't stand a chance of winning it, no way, no how. I know many people from Ashland weren't coming to see if Ashland could beat Ironton but how badly they were going to beat Ironton. And...note, afterwards, I had kind compliments about Ashland. This was fun banter BEFORE the game. I didn't know that Ironton was going to completely dismantle Ashland or I probably would not have put it up there, who would have thought it? I firmly believed that Ironton was capable and I believed they would beat Ashland but..I thought it was going to be a squeakerBABYFACE wrote:NOW,THATS CLASS RIGHT THEREkantuckyII wrote:Ok, now, I just got back from Grayson Lake and while I was out there, I got a little time to think about something I might have heard today. Ok, here's what I was going over and over in my mind trying to think if it's true or not? That AD Lafon had a couple of the maintenance people out on Bob Lutz Field working on the score board? That, instead of having to haul in an expensive rental, a deal was worked out whereby..on the scoreboard, the 'Tigers' was masked off and painted over it was Ashland. Then, what normally is marked guest has been taped over..repainted. Ashland will use half of that side too, Ironton will use the other half of what was formerly the Guest. This way, The Tomcats can register over 100 and of course, the Tigers won't need but a single digit for their score. Fact or fiction?
Here's a photo too!
Re: Ashland (4-0) @ Ironton (3-0)
A few bad apples has ruined the whole group of Ironton posters.. I tried to be nice as a poster from Ashland, I congratulate Ironton, have the utmost class of any poster from Ashland. I even Defend Ironton on a post from a comment from a Ironton basher about the game, And yet I continue to be bombarded with hateful messages and posts from all walks of life on these boards, all these posters just like to rub salt in wounds and act like their big stuff. I look at things down the middle and try to give fair commentary and wisdom, I try to give scores and updates to keep ALL of you informed. But with the crap I continue to get in my inbox and the downgrading posts about Ashland especially when Ashland is a huge chunk of Irontons points to get into playoffs. NO MORE. SEOPS has lost this poster. I'll take my commentary and information elsewhere. Enough said.
Re: Ashland (4-0) @ Ironton (3-0)
And if any of you would like to meet this SEOPS Poster, I'm always at Bdubs in Ironton. Judge me as a person after you talk to me in person, not on these forums.

Sorry you feel that way, E_Waugh...there are quite a few jerks on here who have diarrhea of the mouth.

Ironton just doesn't have the horses it once had. If Ironton keeps this one within 2 td's I'll be surprised. You're Tiger Bait wrote:we'd not have lost the game last year, if not for multiple fumbles. if the fighting tigers cover the ball, especially when fighting for extra yardage, keep it high n tight n covered. we may be fine, 1 thing for sure , we are flat out in the meat of our schedule now. no pushovers. we have to execute blocking, tackling. chilli put 10/11 guys in the box tonight , and we continued to run right at them, chilli tired out, from the beating. but i don't look for ashland to be as soft up the gut. which will mean some mixing up of the play calling. i look for this to be a shootout of defenses , not points. whoever makes the least mistakes, may well win this one. but ironton dished out a butt whooping tonight. if that continues , i say the fighting tigers in a close one.i overheard the tigers in the locker room tonight as we were leaving, they were very spirited, and seemed very focused, and on a mission. this could be a bust out game for the tigers. GO TIGERS.
