But they are playing for next year and they should be very good next year
just a question.
I understand not scheduling Athens do to some bitterness and you would
kill Athens in all likely hood.
And I'm not putting Logan down they need to schedule the way that is best for them
but you have a poster who is always putting Ironton down for their scheduling weaker teams in his eyes but supports scheduling a team 3 levels lower than they are.
Just my wondering aloud on it.
1st off, Waverly, outside of the year they made their playoff run, hasn't been a very competitive football team against GOOD SE Ohio teams.

When Waverly was in the SEOAL, they were one of the worst teams that was EVER in the league, winning only 15 games in 12 years. And since then, they have routinely been roughed up by Jackson on almost a yearly basis. And many of those Jackson teams haven't won the SEOAL.

Forget about size of school, Nelsonville-York is a MUCH MUCH stronger program than Waverly.

2nd of all, Paladin already posted that he didn't like scheduling this game. I'm not a fan myself. But I still think its a better choice than Athens or Waverly.

If I had my way we'd get an MSL, OCC, City, or Catholic League team, but none of them are available. NY beats a bye week (or a Canadian team).

It's a home and home so each school will get an awesome gate out of it.

I was just thinking..........two year contract........2011 and 2012 for Week 5.

Who knows what the TVC or SEOAL will look like come 2013? Will Logan move on to the MSL with Chillicothe by then? Only time will tell.

Paladin, That is funny :12223 Powerhouse Div. 2 Logan playing Div. 5 N.Y. This is not a slam against N.Y. A very good program, it's all about you and the scheduling down factor. Why don't you check maybe Geen has an open date next year.

Logan plays Lancaster, Pick. North, and Reynoldsburg with the SEOAL schedule. I think this was a good move on their part, given that Athens and Waverly are not consistant winners compared to Nelsonville-York, even if NY is a small school. Small towns in Appalachian Ohio with proud football traditions and huge crowds... that's what football is all about!

I may take a trip from Laurelville to catch this game.

The classless clown heard from again. Typical Itown fan. Playing Canadian teams. Playing nobody like Fairbanks. Playing weenie KY teams. Playing hapless WV teams. What next for you ? A PeeWee league team ?

I dare say playing up is a good goal, but when your choices are slim , getting a Champ like N-Y is a good temporary choice. Of course playing down can be dangerous. D-5 Youngstown Ursuline can beat almost anyone in this state , including most D-I .

With that advice in mind, be careful which Pee Wee team you schedule.

The more you post, the dumber you look.

paladin,i'll look dumb with him then. nobody is knocking ny. they are solid. but you've been beating your chest on here for 5 years like a silverback, crackin on ironton's schedule. and then you schedule d5, dropping 3 divisions. and you expect fighting tigers to not claw at your injun backs. again , whats good for the goose is good for the gander. this is not intended to all logan fans, just dipstick.you talk about a temporary schedule fix. what in the sam hill you think canada was. and that team won their national championship, and didn't get beat for 2 years , other than ironton. and weak ky. schools. i gaurantee you. ironton's opponent this week. ashland , ky. may well be stronger than logan this year.and are always a beast. the west virginia teams i can think of we played have been state champions at one time or another. dupont which featured randdy moss and jason williams, won the big school division in west virginia, but got pounded by ironton both years, even with big bad randy moss. talk to me when you've played a cape, youngstown mooney, washington arch bishop carroll high school, or somebody like that. and the last time we played big ole lancaster we embarrassed the crap out of them, at their homecoming.

Paladin, You constantly talk out of both sides of your mouth as usual. Now NY is a scary team to play, yet when they were playing Ironton, we had a cupcake schedule. That's why Logan has never done anything, not only in this Century but never. Your State Championship trophy case remains empty :12223 and always will :12223

Paladin wrote:I don't like it, but if its temporary, then its not a problem. Game 5 is usually tough to fill because most are into league schedules by then. Its not really a good game for either team, but is a monster gate. It should be a computer point bonanza. Hopefully, a better situation comes along and this game disappears.

I'm surprised someone from Ironton is on here slumming it -- N-Y is an annual champ. Fairbanks is a D-5 dump who wins nothing. No comparasion at all. In fact, N-Y is at least better than many schools in bigger division. Fairbanks is one of the weakest teams in the state and can't beat other D-6 teams either. This years schedule has SEVEN D-6 teams, 2 D-5s and brave Ironton, a D-4. They'll struggle for a winning record. Thats a total joke. But the tiggers are the tiggers. Find a win at all costs.
HERE WE GO AGAIN, Logan schedules NY and then defends it. Look you chumps do NOT play up well, never have, the majority of your schedule you play down and when you play teams that you are allegedly equal to within a post season environment ya take it everytime. Maybe you should schedule St. Joe instead next time!!!   BTW, what is Logans record this season so far? Is it 0-3? It's ok I know the "mighty chieftans" will turn it all around and add to their prestigious 8 playoff appearances.

Umm, just a thought but I remember Ironton beating NY riiight? Maybe Logan could schedule Chesapeake.  Not bagging on NY cause honestly their program is head and shoulders above annything Logan could ever claim. Logan fans sure do talk alot considering how very little their program has accomplished.

Ironton fans just can't stay off Logan threads.

I heard there was a virus down there. I hope that everyone gets well soon!

I think that would change if one certain poster wouldn't get on here and slam on Ironton every chance he gets. For instance

Didn't see that game but heard the officiating was awful.

I'm not a fan for Glenville, but you have to be impressed with the talent they turn out. Ohio St. has been feasting on their talented players for years.

BTW, Eds OL averages 6'4, 290 . These aren't the fat kids you see on teams like Itown or Jackson who waddle to the LOS. Real players ! ;-)
It's stupid posts like this that will get you a response from some Tiger fans which are a minority compared to how many Ironton fans actually post on here. You have some that pretend to be Ironton fans that are not even actually from Ironton, so to lump all of them togather is pretty unfair. If you want to call out Ironton fans call them by username not lump them all togather as all Ironton fans. Most Ironton and Logan posters are pretty fair and don't stir the pot as they say but each has a few fans that do.

I say Play Nelsonville York, they always field a pretty darn good team year in and year out. The gate money has to be incredible for this game which provides money to keep other sports afloat. Good Luck to both teams next year in this game.

I'll just say in these economic times, if you can stage games like this that will help all the other sports, it is not a totally bad thing. Would you want this matchup annually in a perfect world? No. Given the circumstances, it is great and both communities are excited about it.
