Re: Week 5 - Portsmouth(2-2) vs. Chillicothe(0-4)
The Trojans are coming off their best performance of the season thus far.......and need to take that level of play into Chillicothe........the Cavaliers are struggling but always have some good athletes.......and Portsmouth hasn't really been consistently good yet.
As far as the QB situation, I told biggdowgg after the Warren game that it would be tough for me to pull Mason out of there but I do understand that Josh has more mobility, experience, and throws a nice ball as well.......either way I think we're in good shape and I doubt if any team in the area has the QB depth that Portsmouth has.
GO TROJANS!! MAKE IT 2-0 IN THE SEOAL!!

plus , you have to consider, Josh has had to deal with much better teams ,and snap problems in the 3 games he played.
but like you said, Mason done a great job,and will still be a starter on this team,,just not at Q B, just yet.

They'd make a nice Chris Leak-Tim Tebow duo for the rest of the year.
Re: Week 5 - Portsmouth(2-2) vs. Chillicothe(0-4)
This is a rivalry game and no matter the records is usally a good tough game. I look for Portsmouth to use both Mason and Myers at qb this week. I think Gulley has another big game running the ball. Ill say Portsmouth-34 Chillicothe-16

Re: Week 5 - Portsmouth(2-2) vs. Chillicothe(0-4)
I would definitely run Jordan out to QB on passing downs. The kid put 4 or 5 balls dead on the money 30 to 40 yards down field. Nothing against Meyers, he is a great athlete and great option pass or run, but the long pass, with Portsmouths speed is a killer with Jordan.
Re: Week 5 - Portsmouth(2-2) vs. Chillicothe(0-4)
Lol. Are you guys seriously comparing Jordan to Myers? And saying that Jordan throws the deep ball better than Myers is a complete joke. How many times has Myers missed on the deep ball against quality opponents this year? No offense to the kid but he played against Warren who was down right terrible. You guys obviously have no capability in recognizing ability and leadership. Teams have to defensively plan for Myers. I'd say opposing coaches would be wiping sweat from their forehead if they didn't have to see Myers on the field.

I totally agree, though Jordan had a good game and that great for this team. Myers gives this team their best chance to beat high caliber teams (Jackson,Gallia,Ironton). I can't believe were even discussing who the QB should be for this team. It's that whole back QB that comes in and the other team is not prepared for and does great. The following week teams have film and time to prepare for the backup. Myers is a great athlete and he scares other teams to death.rocky1234 wrote:Lol. your on the road this week.if you were at home i would say maybe 20 points no more.the cavs defense is starting to get it together the penaltys killed us last week.
if you win it will be by 10 but,the cavs are at home.cavs win 13-10

Re: Week 5 - Portsmouth(2-2) vs. Chillicothe(0-4)
To say Mason put up his numbers against a lesser opponent is a COP OUT........he still had to make those throws regardless who it was against........DID ANYONE MENTION IT WAS THE FIRST START IN HIS CAREER?.........IN A GAME IN WHICH THE TROJANS HAD TO HAVE TO KEEP THEIR SEOAL AND PLAYOFF HOPES ALIVE?.........YOU DON'T THINK THERE WAS PRESSURE ON THE KID FROM THAT?
Play calling was different?.........May have been, but Mason didn't call the plays.....he just executed them......evidently the coaches called the RIGHT plays for Mason because they went deep a lot.......knowing that the kid can throw the deep ball and he CLEARLY showed he can........and the O-line did a great job in giving him protection because it takes a lineman more time to keep a block so that a deep pattern can be completed.
And how does anyone know how Mason would have done against anyone else?.........PURE SPECULATION AND NOTHING ELSE.........here's a fact.........with Mason as a starter, PHS is 1-0.
It seems as if there are some on here who are trying to defend Josh Myers by trying to downplay Mason's effort.........saying he had a good game BUT against a lesser opponent, play calling was different, it wasn't against West or Wheelersburg.........
NOW.........after the euphoria of Mason's performance has quieted down.........JOSH MYERS SHOULD BE THE STARTING QB........but now there is competition at that position............and in team sports, competition at any position is a GOOD THING.
GO TROJANS!! LET'S MAKE IT 2-0 IN THE SEOAL!!

Re: Week 5 - Portsmouth(2-2) vs. Chillicothe(0-4)
CAVS defense needs to buckle it up no matter who plays QB for the Trojans. If P-town fans are arguing this much about the two quarterbacks, they must be extremely talented. Meyers is a three year starter that has shown exceptional athletcism the last two years against Chilly. Sounds like this Mason kid can put up big numbers as well. Bottom line is CAVS defense needs to play their best game against the run and the pass to hold P-town under seventeen points because the offense has only scored more than ten once this year. Chilli offense has got to stop shooting themselves in the foot with missed assignments and penalties.

Re: Week 5 - Portsmouth(2-2) vs. Chillicothe(0-4)
Cavs defense has given up over 1000 yds rushing...126 points.... ( average of 250 + rushing and 32.5 points per game ) and has given up ( guessing here ) 400 yards passing and at least 4 aerial TDs....Offense has run ball well at times...passing game very difficult because of sack after sack..averaging at least 2 delay of game penalties a week...they do take care of the ball not many turnovers....special teams with Osborne and several trickery plays has been bright spot ( other than back to back fake punt attempts last week ) .
To beat Portsmouth...1. must stop running game and keep receivers in check ( here Chillicothe has an opportunity because Cavs DBs match up well athletically ) 2. Must move ball and keep possession, if not score, on offense ( challenge for O Line Hey West must have done this ) 3. Have a very solid night on special teams AND no penalties.
Last year Portsmouth was a heavy favorite and game was not totally decided until late when Portsmouth got a huge interception...We will see if Chillicothe is headed in right direction at varsity level after this game. Time for these seniors ( yes, Chillicothe is a senior heavy team starting at least 8 on both sides of football ) to step up and play.

Big rivalry game, but PHS comes out on top, 28-14.
Re: Week 5 - Portsmouth(2-2) vs. Chillicothe(0-4)
This will be a close game,NOT ALL Trojan fasn are predicting no 30 point win, matter of fact a couple of them predictions are not from TROJAN fans.
enough of the QB talk, if Josh is ready he will start, and deservingly so, no player will lose his starting positon over one game.
Mason is very talented and will still start on the team, and the Q B spot will be his next year,as long as Josh Stays healthy and can finish this year....
I do think it matters who you play against, if you are not running for your life, you have time to throw the deep ball...if you have defenders all over you, things dont go as well, Im not down playing Masons performance at all.
thats all im posting on this matter

I didn't compare them nor did I say anything about Meyers not starting, I just made an opinion that I would run Jordan in on some series, especially passing downs. Not to mention that he will be your starter next year and it only make sense to get him some game time experience.rocky1234 wrote:Lol. Are you guys seriously comparing Jordan to Myers? I think this game will be close, but last years game was a blow out. Until the last 5-7 minutes with our freshmen and sophomores giving up a few last scores. I think the Trojans led that game by at least 3 scores for most of that game. This is a new year and we will see if the Trojans come to play every week. GO TROJANS!buckeyebuddy wrote:Cavs defense has given up over 1000 yds rushing...126 points.... while i COMPLETELY disagree with you and think your meds are too strong i do admire the fact that you stand behind your team Trojans roll in this one 34-13cavalierfan1995 wrote:-you trojan fans crack me up.30,40,point blowouts.GET REAL!

Re: Week 5 - Portsmouth(2-2) vs. Chillicothe(0-4)
First of all, Last week against Athens, Coach Hinton stated " Fake punts were called on the field by a player." If a player isnt going to listen to the coaches, GET HIM OUT OF THERE. (We know the player that called it.) Also, if we cannot throw the football as a team, get someone in there that can (maybe Elliott, Barnes ?) The Halfback pass from last week, was thrown by a non QB, just like the one that starts. Changes need to be made to prepare the young players for Friday night lights. Play the athletes in positions that they can play, not what they wanna PLAY !!! Good luck on the season Cavs, You'll need it. GO LOGAN !!!!

Sounds like it may not be an issue, I am told Meyer will not be ready by Friday. Either way, Trojan's win big.biggdowgg wrote:This will be a close game,NOT ALL Trojan fasn are predicting no 30 point win, matter of fact a couple of them predictions are not from TROJAN fans.

I didn't compare Jordan to Myers nor did i say Myers shouldn't be the starter. I said i think they both get time at qb this week. If Myers is still banged up why would we play him every down it makes no sense. Jordan can step in for a few plays let Myers rest. Myers runs so hard and is so physical it may be smart to let Jordan get some snaps so Myers doesn't wear down. Either way no matter who is out there taking the snaps i think we will win .
