Re: Week 5 - Portsmouth(2-2) vs. Chillicothe(0-4)
It probably would be a good idea to ride Mason as far as we can. Meyers needs his rest and it would be a great luxury if we could bring him back slowly.
Re: Week 5 - Portsmouth(2-2) vs. Chillicothe(0-4)
WOW! That would be a shocker if Meyers is out again. I was looking forward to seeing him play if I am able to make it down Friday. It sounds like the Mason kid could be fun to watch as well. I hope the Meyers boy will be alright. Good luck to P-town but I am still pulling for my CAVS.
Remember CAVS, you are still undefeated in league play, keep fighting! That league will be won with at least one loss this year. Stay in the fight!

Re: Week 5 - Portsmouth(2-2) vs. Chillicothe(0-4)
I said once that if Myers was hurt ,Portsmouh was finished. Jordan made me eat my words last week. Portsmouth has no problems with Chillicothe with Jordan in there this week.buckcraze wrote:WOW! Chillicothe has a lot of problems up front. That is something Ron Hinton has not had to deal with much over his career because at Amanda he has had superior lines a lot of years. The skill is there in Chilly, but will he ever be able to get linemen out in the school? Ron is 0-2 in his career so far against Portsmouth, make it 0-3

Yeah Ron is 0-2 vs. Clifford and the Trojans but those are vastly different teams. PHS beat Amanda in 99 and 00 both were state title years for the Aces. The Trojans were very good both years, going 13-1 and winning the D3 AP title in 2000, and being a underachieving 7-3 in 99 with victories over the Aces and a top ranked 9-0 Wheelersburg team.CavsFan08 wrote: Ron is 0-2 in his career so far against Portsmouth, make it 0-3
PHS runs a totally different offense then we did in those years, and doesn’t have the athletes size or speed we had. This is because we are a smaller school than we were, at that time, and had an unbelievable amount of speed. Ron is at a completely different school that is much larger than Amanda, but doesn’t have near the history or the community support of the Aces. Clearcreek is a strange place where the whole community loves the football team. He doesn’t get that in Chillicothe, nor do we get that in Portsmouth.
Give Coach Hinton time and support and he will make the Cavs in to a strong program. They have to many good athletes each year not to be in the mix. It just isn’t going to happen this season. The Trojans just have to much fire power for them to overcome.
Portsmouth by 21 if they can avoid stupid penalties, if PHS goes stupid again like they did against Burg and West I’ll take the Trojans by 6.

Does anyone know if Josh is, or is not going to play tonight? It may determine whether I come down or not.
The posts about the difference Coach Hinton is facing is dead on. This is the same situation Chilly was in before Bill Trent and John Sines came to chilly in the 1980's. Chilly teams previous to those two coaches coming were hard hitting, extremely athletic, but terrible. These teams were filled with the same guys that were winning sectional and district basketball championships year in and year out and making appearences in the hoops regional championships. But they could not translate all that athleticism to the football field. Bill Trent arrived in Chilly and changed the mentality from the younger grades all the way up to the varsity. The weight room was "not mandatory" as it is today, but if you thought you were part of the program and did not become a regular in the weight room (7th grade through varsity) you were made to feel extremely unwelcome in the program(read between the lines, don't lift, don't come). John Sines came in with solid discipline as well, along with solid X's and O's and capitalized on the foundation that Bill Trent had built. The understanding was still there with the kids: someone else that plays my position is in the weightroom getting bigger, stronger, and faster, if I do not do the same, the coaches will assume I am not committed and I will fall behind the competition at my position. That is the last time Chilly was regularly tough to beat. That mentality is the same mentality that Coach Hinton established at Amannda, it disapeared at Chilly long ago. If he can reestablish that mentality, Chilly could become a beast once again, if not, Chilly will continue to have a good year every once and a while but not consistently. Kids, you have to decide what you want, ready made excuses, or championships.
All that said, whether I make it there tonight or not, I will always be pulling for Chilly!!!!! Somebody from P-town, if you know whether Josh is playing or not let me know, I may come any way.GO CAVS!!!!!!!!
Good luck Trojans be safe!

Re: Week 5 - Portsmouth(2-2) vs. Chillicothe(0-4)
Is there something different in the paper version than what's listed online? The only thing I'm seeing is the Power rankings, and it doesn't necessarily say he's sidelined. Just wondered if there was a different article that I was missing.. Either way, I think the Trojans will be be fine..Trojan_fan wrote:Buckcraze, according to the Portsmouth Daily Times, Josh is still sidelined....

The Game Day section in todays PDT reads "Jordan and Gulley to start against the Cavaliers" .TrojanGal wrote:Is there something different in the paper version than what's listed online? Doesn't say how long he is out, but doesn't look like we will see him tonight.
Mason Jordan and Andrew Gulley are more than capable of leading this offense, and will have another successful showing tonight.

Re: Week 5 - Portsmouth(2-2) vs. Chillicothe(0-4)
like him or not, bill dennis's teams, for being in the OCC, competed well MOST of the time
will chilly ever have a run of athletes again like he had?
obadiah harris, phil beverly, adam porter, brad bates, jimmyskinner, aj cousins, marshall upshaw
and many other VERY good fill ins around those d1 type of players

Big sack for Portsmouth, nice punt to the Trojan 11.
