Re: WEEK 5 Gallia Academy (4-0) @ Ironton (4-0)
I don't know who you are, but that is just promoting conflict among the players by saying that one is better than the other. Wilks and Warner has earned their positions and are doing very well. Brown and White will get their chance with hard work and dedication which the seniors have already earned. Leave the coaching to Lutz. He knows what he is doing.I-town-90 wrote:I think Ironton is going to start rolling out some of the young talent pretty soon. The two Sophs., Brown and White, are going to slowly but surely start becoming part of the offense. I have seen it a million times. Lutz is bringing them along slowly as usual. White didn't get a carry against Ashland with the first unit. He was mainly a blocking half back. That will slowly change as the season goes on and the opponent focuses on Wilkes and Warner. Brown and White are seriously talented running backs. Both will be better than Wilkes and Warner. Once Brown and White become part of the offense, along with Wilkes and Warner, it is going to be tough on defenses to key on anyone. There will be quite a few backs to stop.
Ironton is going to start polishing the defense and unleashing some new talent on offense. I haven't seen Gallia so I cannot predict a score. Gallia maybe be able to beat the Buckeyes for all I know. I do know the Tigers will be better than they were last week, and better the next week, etc just as a Lutz coached team is year after year. That is why I have been saying all along to people to have patience, the team will improve each week. Ironton fans get spoiled and expect us to blow everyone out from the first game of the year. It takes time, and the first couple of games is too soon to judge anyone.
Go Tigers.

Re: WEEK 5 Gallia Academy (4-0) @ Ironton (4-0)
Ironton is starting to come together after some early season struggles. The Tigers win this one, but Gallia gives them some fits. Ironton by a score with the home field advantage Ironton 30 Gallia 22.
Re: WEEK 5 Gallia Academy (4-0) @ Ironton (4-0)
You misunderstood me, I did not mean that Brown and White will be better than Wilkes and Warner this year. By the time they are seniors, they will be better backs. That is not in anyway saying that Wilkes and Warner are not good, as they are both very good backs. Just my opinion. I know coach Lutz quite well thank you. As I have said, coach will bring the youngsters along slowly as he always does and by the end of the year, White and Brown will play bigger parts of the game plan than they are currently. Then, defenses will have to account for 4 good backs instead of 2.tigersportsfan wrote:I don't know who you are, but that is just promoting conflict among the players by saying that one is better than the other. I am not sure if you played, but I can assure you that everyone knows where they stand on the team, everyone knows who has talent and who does not, and everyone on the team will work towards winning instead of selfishly crying or bitching at each other. Lutz does not tolerate jealousy. There is a clear pecking order in the locker room. If you played, you would know that. There is a reason the lockers are in the order that they are. Everyone knows their role. That is another Hallmark of a Lutz team. There are no individuals. I can guarantee you that Warner and Wilkes will be the first two players that will want White and Brown to help the team win a State Title if they were able to choose.
Sorry you misunderstood me, but White and Brown are going to be very good. Burcham has even made the comment that people may forget about Jermon when Dion is finished. That is a pretty strong comment, though it was said before two knee surgeries. It is not taking anything away from Warner or Wilkes to say that White and Brown are going to be better, without any unforeseen injuries etc. That is just they way to is.

But I guess it is alright for eveyone on here to tell us how good the Tigers are and how they could make a deep run into the playoffs and maybe they could beat the Buckeyes. Get a life and don't take football SOOOOOOOOOOOO serious it is a game.caglewis wrote:As I said before - will you and OSU 77 and all others of your ilk just SHUT UP!!! Do you not see that when you belittle an opponent you are trivializing the effort the Fighting Tigers, individually and as a team, put into practice, preparation, and playing for each game. I'll lay LONG odds that Bob Lutz never EVER has said "this game's a guaranteed blowout so don't strain yourselves getting ready"!! In fact, that kind of attitude almost certainly guarantees a loss, not a win. And yes, we're mostly "fans" on here, not participants; and our "attitudes/opinions" don't really affect TEAM preparation or play.runner23 wrote:Totally agree, it is only gahs!! They have beat no one!! And there O OR D line can't even compare to irontons. Should be another blowout.......
Except attitudes trickle down, and hearing - via media or word-of-mouth - that any given opponent is a "cupcake/pushover" doesn't really inspire hard work, extra effort, or setting higher personal goals!
The cliche "any given night" is a cliche because it's true!! DO NOT EVER DISCOUNT ANY OPPONENT!!

The tigers better underestimate Gallia Academy they are a very good team, with that being said I'll take tigers by about 14, its hard to win at tanks

WOW ----- To hear everyone talk we should just lay down and not even come to the tank cause we are gonna get beat. You no what I think the Blue Devils will show up just in case everyone is wrong. We are 4-0 not 3-1 or 2-2 we have defeated our opponets very soundly this is a different gallia than years past . yes Ironton is our test of how good we are and the Ironton team has my respect as the toughest team we may see all year. But these Blue Devils are some of the toughest kids we have had in a long time That being said GOOD LUCK TO BOTH TEAMS.

Re: WEEK 5 Gallia Academy (4-0) @ Ironton (4-0)
Might I correct an old wives tale that goes around about the Tigers for the fine young men of Gallia Academy who are coming to Tank Stadium Friday? A few years back, we sat down and looked at it and there is an mathematically insignificant difference between the wins Ironton has at home vs the road. That's a fact but I also suspect (while having no solid proof on this statement) that there's far less difference at Ironton than 95% of the other schools in the area or state

Re: WEEK 5 Gallia Academy (4-0) @ Ironton (4-0)
I doubt the team and coaching staff will be underestimating anyone. As for it being hard to win at the Tank? Yes it is hard to win at the Tank. It is hard to beat Ironton anywhere. However, your Senators won at the tank in 1990, 14-0. It was their only win over Ironton. In the same year, ironton came back in the playoffs to down the Senators in Portsmouth.sider wrote:The tigers better underestimate Gallia Academy they are a very good team, with that being said I'll take tigers by about 14, its hard to win at tanks
It is great to see Gallipolis back winning again. This is a good game for both schools in my opinion.
