At some point everyone should realize it's more than wins and losses; it's about getting behind our kids and letting them know how we feel about them.
Awesome, everyone should be happy then this coming Friday :-D

He pretty much hit the nail on the head. I was BLASTED for calling Ashland Over-rated. If they aren't Over-rated, then I do not know what to call them. They simply did not even compete, not even remotely.

Telling it like it is? I dont know. It sounded like a blog from a guy who never put a jock strap on. Probably a guy who stood in the smoking section in high school and never particiapted in anything school related. Ironton has those too. I wasnt thrilled with his depiction of two of Ashlands kids who do take the time to participate. It's really easy to downgrade the Hunter kid, while you are pecking on your computer keys. When that deuchebag takes the hits that hunter took last friday night, maybe then i will think he is "telling it like it is." Really easy from the "smoking section."

Great post. A blogger, or any type of internet poster that runs a high school kid down, particularly by name has no business writing anything about high school football.

None of Ironton's remaining opponents have a losing record. All but one (Portsmouth 2 & 2) has a winning record. The combined record of those left before The Fighting Tigers are 16 - 8. I honestly believe that these guys, if they play to the level they're capable of, have an excellent chance to finish out the regular season, 10 & 0. No Ironton team has done that since 2001. Of course, that has to be one at a time with patience. Again, it's been great seeing so many Ironton fans at the games pulling for the Tigers...at home & on the road.

What is the best (quickest) way to get from Athens to Ironton?? 32 to 93?

I though the guy's take was funny - to a point. However, I agree with you, e-tiae, that he crossed the line in how he hammered the two young men from Ashland for their efforts. Singling out and tearing down high school students in a blog leaves me with a very unfavorable impression of the writer. He should leave that stuff for the guys who get paid to play for a living. Your point is well taken.

I don't agree that only former players have anything intelligent to say about the game. Former players do have a special point of view that is relevant and given its due respect in today's sports coverage, both locally and nationally. But I'm not fond of jock snobbery. Theirs is not the only valid point of view. Guys who never played the game are enshrined in the Baseball Hall of Fame because of the special insight they bring to sport for the fan like myself - guys like Marty Brennaman, Jack Buck, and others. But please keep posting e-tiae, because I like reading what you have to say. ;-)

I don't think there would be any other way unless you wanted to come up Rt 7, that would take a while though, maybe 85 minutes or so longer

^^ Thanks, yeah I live in Gallipolis and know that is not the best option. I have to pick my son up from OU on Friday at about 5:15 then on to Tanks.

Acutally, it would only be about an hour longer to go Rt 7. We done that, either last year or a couple years ago just for the scenic stuff. It is a beautiful drive but I'm sure you're aware of that though.

Watch the deer! They're not too bad yet but man, that 32 to Jackson was crazy last year late in the season! deer everwhere!

Point taken PB3. Those long two a days over by the pool, while some of my "peers" were sipping snow cones, have clouded my judgement some ;-) I would say that my jock snubbery was only pointed at the negative remarks of the two kids. I like your insight and always remember, "This one belongs to the Reds."

I wonder how the heat will factor into Friday's game. Even though it's the last Friday in September, it could conceivably actually wind up to be the hottest game of the year :122246 There's also a chance of rain and I think that many are wondering if we'll see the first appearance of 'Umbrella Boy'
