Webster @ Waverly
Re: Webster @ Waverly
I see this game as one of the best of the year in the SOC. You have two teams that play a similar style, have a full team of quality players, and play together well.
Both teams have defenders that like to push forward and get involved in the offense. Both midfields attack & defend. Should be fun to watch.
I heard there was going to be one half of JV (7v7 or something) before the varsity. True?

Yes, We are starting a 5:30 with a 7v7 half of JV , followed by the varsity match. Varsity will start around 6:30. This should be a very good match tonight.

Waverly 2 South Webster 1
Speed kills. Don't think South Webster has faced anyone this fast. Going to be close no matter what. I will be there to see it unfold.

Rockyraccoon: Webster doesn't get to pick which league they are in! I am sure if you asked most of their players and parents they would much rather play Burg, Waverly and Minford twice instead of their current schedule!
Secondly, Wheelersburg has 150 boys in grades 9-11. The OHSAA does not count seniors therefore please use the correct numbers if you are going to continue to make this point. They have roughly 200 boys in the school. If Waverly has 250 in 9-11 then they have around 330 boys in the school. You also count 50-60 on everyone's football team---which is a stretch and are you telling me that all those kids could play soccer? (offensive linemen for example)
I believe Keagan is simply tired of people "qualifying" South Webster's great run in soccer. It is what it is. The SOC breaks schools up due to size----if things were your way then Northwest would always play in SOC 1 in football! Just not going to happen. Clay had a great soccer team in 2001 and New Boston has had some great soccer teams in the past and Valley beat South Webster in 2006. Next year things might even out some----this current core is different. South Webster has a great program for a number of reasons---not having football is just one of them. This group of seniors is special---6 of them started as freshmen and still won the SOC!\
Good luck to both teams tonight!

Re: Webster @ Waverly
I agree with you totally. I am only making my "opinion" of what would make the league more balanced. It would definetly help SW to play the better teams in the area twice. I noticed in the third State Ranking they dropped out of the top ten, and that can only be due to strength of schedule.svbt1112 wrote:Rockyraccoon: Webster doesn't get to pick which league they are in! As for the numbers, I only go by the the OHSAA.org list, and they have never included seniors.
And yes, SW does have six talented seniors I have watched them play all four years. Their freshman year they were tied with Clay and scored off a header with 8 seconds left in the game. I hope they make another deep run in the tournament again this year. That kind of press helps promote interest in the sport in our area.

good call on this one!
Re: Webster @ Waverly
Webster is the real deal. Might be the best team in some time in southern Ohio. Well coached, physical and athletic. On the other hand Harrison Martin went out the second minute of the game with a bruised foot. Waverly seemed like someone had let the air out of them when he left the game. No excuses SW has a long tourney run ahead. Good luck from Waverly.

Re: Webster @ Waverly
South Webster really played a great game tonight and controlled possession from the start. They were more athletic, faster and much bigger than Waverly. They move off the ball really well and are extremely physical. Waverly was really hurt by losing Martin in the 1st minute of the game. Harrison could have really helped Waverly in the middle of the field with his size. Webster's 1st goal was a fluke on a floater that went over Waverly's keepers head. Waverly had trouble responding and matching the physical play. Webster is a great team and are very talented all of the field.

Can't do nothing is a double negative which makes it a positive, so Swanker I'm glad you agree or are you showing your ignorance.Swanker Pine wrote:Wah wah waverly. can't do nothing without Martin.

Good physical game tonight between the SOC divisional leaders.
Webster controlled most of the game. There were a lot of Pirates cheering for the Jeeps tonight.
Good luck to the Tigers and Jeeps come tournament time.
BTW, Swanker- it does not seem that soccerfix was complaining. He was very complimentary about your Jeeps and made a statement about Martin being injured. Martin would have made an impact on the game. He's a great player.

Re: Webster @ Waverly
South Webster was definitely the more aggressive team tonight. Their defense possessed a great deal of football skills. Disappointed in some of the sportsmanship that was portrayed out on the field. I do wish the referees had been a little more consistent on their calls. Waverly needs to try utilizing some of the speed they possess on their team. They used it some in the beginning of the season and it appeared to work. Waverly will figure it out. There a good team and many more games still to play. Good luck to both teams!

South Webster Jeeps 3, Waverly Tigers 0
Goals By Half ...................1........... 2........... Final
South Webster................. 2........... 1............. 3
Waverly Tigers .................0........... 0............. 0
Half Time Team Goal Scorer (Assist)
1 2:53 SW #9 Rice, Adam (#10 Patterson, Brice)
1 34:42 SW #5 Scott, Connor
2 44:01 SW #5 Scott, Connor (#20 Wright, Josh)
Things didn't start out too well for Waverly with the early goal and injury. The Jeeps played well, worked hard, and it payed off big. The defense was solid, midfield effective, & forwards put great pressure up top. Great job guys!

I wouldn't worry to much about what swanker says, his "top players in the SOC" post of "SW, all of them" tells us all we need to know.cave canem wrote:Good physical game tonight between the SOC divisional leaders.
