Jackson (or Ironton's) Stadium Lights??
Anybody have an idea of what Ironton's (or Jackson's) stadium lights cost the schools when they were put in? I know it's outrageous.

You might call someone at Holzer in Jackson, they bailed the Ironmen out short term.

Re: Jackson (or Ironton's) Stadium Lights??
i know ours were put in by the same people who put in marshall's and west virginia's lighting system. at ironton.
Re: Jackson (or Ironton's) Stadium Lights??
I don't have an idea on the cost of the lighting system. I can try to find out.
I was under the impression that Holzer donated the money for the FieldTurf, and not the lighting system, hence the "Holzer Field at Alumni Stadium". I could be wrong.
Pretty sure that Holzer has made donations to other schools in the area, not just Jackson.

I know this might seem like a silly question... but do either of you recall how many lights are on each pole / bank and how many poles are up at each stadium?

ROFL Howie, why do you go to anyone else when you know, I have everything you need I like what Terry Parker chose for these lights. The way they work, you can lower them down quickly from the ground, install a burnt out light and then run them back up again, all in minutes without bringing in a crane to do it with. Either way, it was very dark at Tank Stadium for some reason last night..at least a stop and a half darker. I failed to look to see if there was one or more lights burnt out though or it was just the dark clothes people had on
Only for you Howie...Here's what you're wanting to know...just...Click The Tiger and let him...'take you away'
...and by the way, Ironton's lights, considering it's on natural grass are just outstanding. I would LOVE to see how nice it would be with turf on the ground. Marshall only wished they had what Ironton and Jackson do
(PS, I took those photos on August 16, 2003)

Speaking of turf, if Ironton had the money, would they ever consider putting turf in the Tank? I think it'd be a lot better, plus all the extra use you could get out of the field.

Re: Jackson (or Ironton's) Stadium Lights??
Kantucky II, I appreciate the link, but am I overlooking something?? Is there any place on there, or a link off the page that tells how much the new lights cost? Lastly, I'll just say that since I haven't been in the tri-state for a while, it's been some time since I've looked at IFB dot com, and it's a good reminder of what would be great for every school to be so lucky as to have. If you can't make sense of that last sentence, that's because it was awkwardly worded, but rest-assured it was a compliment. Maybe not today, maybe not tomorrow, but one of these days people will look back and feel very lucky to have had someone that's put in the kind of work and time as you have on this site.

By the way... that's not to say that people don't appreciate the site CURRENTLY, but you and I both know that sometimes it can be overlooked or people (especially in your case, since you profit ZERO from the site) think it's your JOB to keep the site up-to-date.

Re: Jackson (or Ironton's) Stadium Lights??
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------well a current coach for the fighting tigers told me back when my sons played and the lights were being installed. that it was the same outfit that put up marshall's and wvu's lights. they are from crosslanes wva. i'm sure he repeated what he'd been told. and of course dumb ole me, took it as the truth. and have told others the same.kantuckyII wrote:ROFL Howie, why do you go to anyone else when you know, I have everything you need I like what Terry Parker chose for these lights. Re: Jackson (or Ironton's) Stadium Lights??
Thanks LetsGoPSU, I appreciate that.
You're Tiger Bait, if you read the page, you'll see that it was a company from Crosslanes that installed the lighting. R.L. Allen out of Crosslanes was contracted to do them. I remember Terry Parker traveled somewhere to see the same lights in place and out of those he saw, he chose the one's we are using and I think it was a very smart move as they'll save a lot of money over the years not having to have the lights changed by anyone else

If I am not mistaken I think that Coke paid for the lights at Tanks.
I just want to say that I as a parent of a past football player and a current one. I very much appreciate the work that John puts into Irontonfootball.com. I am very grateful to have a site such as this and brag about it every chance I get.

Pepsi paid for Jacksons Score board , thats why pop is $2.00 a bottle , and you can't get Jackson county's ski pop.
BIG BUMMER
From what I heard the company that installed Jacksons turf also done the Bengals feild. I cna't confirm that though.
Maybe thats why Jackson charges prices like your at an NFL game.
I went to my bank a got a 30 day note to get me through the home games.
I just hope the money holds up and the tax payers are not asked for an operating levy or a pay to play situation.
The $2,500.00 I pay in property taxes , Jackson city schools get $1,800.00 of that so they can have that Taj Mahal on the hill. I would be very disapointed if they asked for more. Because my township is suffering by only getting $240.00 of my taxes.
Sorry to get side tracked here , Just make sure you have the money for the lights before every one else has to suffer.

Re: Jackson (or Ironton's) Stadium Lights??
not sure who did our turf but pepsi did donate the scoreboard also.
i also heard a few yrs ago that pepsi asked if we wanted a 4 sided college style scoreboard in the b-ball gym. the hs said no thanks, not sure why. it would have been the only hs in ohio with one.
on the property taxes our shot up about 200.00
like you guys i hope they don't ask for more.

I beleive Minfords are from Musco, I don't know about the price. They put new ones in when they did the stadium. I'm wanting so say they have a lifetime gurantee and they will replace bulbs for free if they ever burn out but don't quote me on that. Here is their website you can request informational catalogs. http://www.musco.com/musco.php
