The QB is a very good passer, but is probably not in the top 10 passers that I have seen us face in the past, ie Davis from Belaire for example. The backs were solid, but again nothing special, no where near as talented as many backs we have seen before, ie Carlos Snow. The backs were decent, but none would be in the top 20 that I have seen us face before. The O-line was good. They won the game for Alder. They absolutely man handled us up front. The defense for Alder was very solid too with very good speed overall. The D-line could move and the line-backing core was very active. The Alder coach had his boys well prepared and made some nice adjustments, and he kept some wrinkles that he didn't show until the second half.

For us Ironton fans, we now know where we stand. Ashland was grossly over-rated, Galipolis was not very good, and Burg is the best team we have beat. Tonight we faced a Playoff caliber opponent, D4 at that, and we were throttled. Now we have to lick our wounds and get better, especially the tackling. Let's go take care of business against Jackson and then measure ourselves again when we see Bishop Hartley. We are going to make the playoffs, so we still have plenty of season left to improve on our weaknesses.

As for the refs, they had nearly ZERO bearing on the outcome. I did witness the worst spot that I have seen in my entire life, but the officials had NOTHING to do with out butt-whooping.

Yeah I know what you mean, Ironton has only won 2 STATE TITLES and Umpteen Zillion playoff games. How many have you won?

The last team I played from "up North" was Cambell Memorial, and we handed them their AZZES and we took home a State Trophy. Where were you then hoss? How many State Titles does Alder have? That's right, you don't want to bring Alders best team up against Ironton's best. We have won D3 State Titles, you have LOST one D4 game. Nice job.

Nope Alder won period, they were the better Team tonight no doubt about it........

When they throwed our best running back out of the game in the 1st QTR for seemingly no reason at all and didn't signal why they did it and then the announcer asked what the call on the field was and they still never signalled why, well it kind of leaves you wondering that's all I'm saying

I would find it very hard to believe that ANY ref would throw a kid out of the game for no reason,no matter where he was from, it is very hard to see and hear everything that goes on down on the field from the stands..but I understand,I have questioned refs befor to

are you saying your PA announcer ask over the loud speakers what the penalty was?..

I spoke to Tres' dad and he said Tres was eject for throwing a punch. According to Tres, he was pushing the kid off of him and not throwing a punch. Rick McNight, the PA man did ask the Refs for an explanation over the PA system. The REF ignored him. Which I would have done the same if I were the Ref. He threw the flag, he ejected the player, he explained the call to Lutz, he does not have to answer to the fans or the PA announcer.

The ref was facing the home side when this call was made. I saw him signal unsportsmanlike and then made the signal of throwing someone out.

I agree wholeheartedly about alder being better!! It was all about their big O line!! They killed our players!!! Just unfortunate so many new players injured, re-injuries, starters sidelined!!!
Q back & other backs were good, but nothing superior! With a line that physical, doesn't take much to score!
Defense was fast, & I'd say the kicker is their biggest weapon after their o line!!
Nice try tigers!!! Get healthy& march on!!! TIGER PRIDE!!!!

I saw a similar happening a long time ago at Minford. The ref got word to the pressbox via coaches headsets that the annoucer would be tossed if he said anything else.

have not read 1 other single reply on here. i wanted to post my feelings before i finally eat some dinner. plain and simple we got our butts handed to us tonight. by a superior team. i think this may have been the most physical beating we have taken since years ago, a pasting 40-0 , by st francis desales. or maybe our state championship loss to mentor lake catholic. we had no answers

we were out muscled, outhustled, outcoached, and outplayed. in short i am extremely impressed with jonathon alder. the a train was everything it was advertised to be. and then some. frankly i hope we don't see this team again. and when they had us 24-14. they were still well in control of the game, they could have milked the clock, but were practically running back to the line of scrimmage , the pioneers were on a mission , that was evident in their first drive, when they could have punted and pinned us very deep. they went for it on 4th and 11. and converted. then proceded to eat up 8 minutes of the first quarter, then punched it in for 7. totally impressed with the way alder played. ironton was in a very physical contest this week. and definately need to regroup to do battle with the jackson ironmen, and we will be without the services of our star running back tres wilks, as he got ejected early in the game tonight, though i don't know why yet.thats my take. YTB.

Plain City [Jonathan AlDer] is west of Dublin: northwest of Columbus.
Archbishop AlTer, completely different, is a parochial school located in Kettering, south of Dayton. Do not confuse the two.

Well alot of people don't agree with the call. Just because the call was made, doesn't mean that it was the right call. Anyone that knows Tres knows that he's not like that. I town 90 you must be two faced if you stood and talked to his dad and didn't voice your opinion then. But you can get on here and run your mouth. He does need to answer for his calls. He made a call that cost a good player and a good kid two games of his senior year. Our coaches, Ad and boys didn't understand either. And it did make a big difference in this game.

Alder is a solid team, but I will bet anyone what ever amount they want, Alder will not win the State Title this year. I did not see a State caliber team. I saw a very good playoff team, third or fourth round MAYBE, but not a State winner. I may be wrong, but I am willing to put my money where my mouth is. I have seen State champs, and they do not look like Alder, they are better. Again, the QB is good, not great, and the backs are nothing to write home about. Shankweiler is MUCH better than any back Alder has. The O-line was impressive. They are better than Ironton, but that doesn't make a State champ. We shall see won't we?
