Re: Winningest program in the Southeast District
Ironton
I know that the 2005, 2006, and 2010 records are accurate. As for the others, I will check on it. 2003 and 2004 were good seasons for Ironton, but not sure on the record. I would guess atleast 15 wins.
2001:
2002:
2003: 19-5
2004: Guess is 21-3. Thinking they went 18-2 in regular season.
2005: 26-1
2006: 19-6
2007: Lost district final
2008: 13-11 (I believe)
2009: Lost district semifinal
2010: 21-4

Re: Winningest program in the Southeast District
because of that one less than 10 win season will north adams be looking for a new coach next year if it happens again?

I think Ironton had 3 20-win (or better) seasons in a row 2003, 2004, 2005; hopefully fightingtigers45 can confirm this.

Re: Winningest program in the Southeast District
CoyDuke: McClain averaged almost 17 wins per year under Van Matre, and I know that at least a couple of the 4 years with Dante Jackson (2004-2007) the Tigers won at least 20 games, and the other two were very close to 20 wins.......I would think from those figures MHS has to be in the top 3 of your current list, even with 14 and 12 wins the last two years, with Wheelersburg and Chesapeake's records still not posted.

Re: Winningest program in the Southeast District
It would be a shame if they did. Realistically North Adams will probably be worse this year than last and I dont think coaching is to blame.sparky wrote:because of that one less than 10 win season will north adams be looking for a new coach next year if it happens again?

Re: Winningest program in the Southeast District
Don't have Chillicothe's before 05, but in the last 5 seasons they are 86-31 playing IMO the toughest schedule year in year out in SEO. Does anyone have pre 2005 and can they confirm my numbers. I did not look them up but rather counted the wins from their schedules so I could be off by a game or two.

Re: Winningest program in the Southeast District
Im pretty sure that those teams in 2003 and 2004 did win 20 games, but am not 100%. I just looked in the 2002 Ironton yearbook for a record, but it contained the schedule not the record.Gray Fighting Tiger wrote:I think Ironton had 3 20-win (or better) seasons in a row 2003, 2004, 2005; hopefully fightingtigers45 can confirm this.

datchillicav: The Chillicothe basketball game program lists the year by year record since 1916.......I don't have it in front of me but I believe the Cavaliers were 11-11 in either 2004 or 2005, losing to Greenfield McClain and Dante Jackson in the sectional, and before that averaged about .500 under Jeff Hobbs during his 4-5 year tenure.
Re: Winningest program in the Southeast District
Hopefully my fellow fans at North Adams are savvy enough to recognize that all high school programs have a down year now and then. Coach Young has had success that none of his predecessors enjoyed and should be the coach for as long as he desires. He has certainly earned that right in my opinion and I think I'm in the vast majority with that opinion.sparky wrote:because of that one less than 10 win season will north adams be looking for a new coach next year if it happens again?

Re: Winningest program in the Southeast District
Did some digging and found out Chillicothe's basketball records:
2001: 4-17
2002: 10-12
2003: 11-10
2004: 8-13
2005: 9-12
2006: 11-11
2007: 21-4
2008: 25-2 D2 State Champions
2009: 18-6
2010: 17-6?......I know they went 11-3 in the SEOAL and believe they were 15-5 in the regular season, losing in the district tournament.
Totals: 134-93......ties them with Huntington for 4th place
drrabbit: I compiled Wheelersburg's records last night and was going to post it this morning but you beat me to it........I had thought intially that the Burg was right near the top in wins, and with your figures it puts them at #1 right now.
2001: 4-17
2002: 10-12
2003: 11-10

Tom Barrick at Dburg is a good coach with some nice records. Chillicothe's records are excellent as well since Gary Kellough became coach 5 or 6 years ago. I look for them to have another solid year again.

Re: Winningest program in the Southeast District
You can really tell people love their programs and I think its great to list all of these records. I would like to see the total for just the last 5 years because many programs have different coaches in 10 years. I think that could give a better statistic.

I can't remember LE's record off the top of my head and their athletic site won't allow me to view basketball. I'll see what I can dig up.

Re: Winningest program in the Southeast District
drabit, it looks like your totals for wheelersburg are for 11 years.
Re: Winningest program in the Southeast District
Her data shows 11 years, but actually she only added up the last 10. There is a mistake in her math as well. The total is 185, not 182. She mistakenly added only the regular season wins for this past season (9) instead of the total wins including the tournament (12). 185-57 (69% wins) over 10 years is pretty impressive!expert witness wrote:drabit, it looks like your totals for wheelersburg are for 11 years.
