I guess you find this out Friday night. I know this...the Tigers will hit.
Re: Does Ironton have the size and speed....
The line and backs are for real...qb is one of the top five since the eighties.
Re: Does Ironton have the size and speed....
size yes speed is suspect but get the job done behind the huge line.
Re: Does Ironton have the size and speed....
We have good size, but I am not sure we are as big as Alder. 6'6 329 is pretty hard to match. I will say this, our two best linemen have good size, 6'4" 275 and 6'3" 270, maybe not 300+ but they are not FATBOYS that can't move either. They both have good feet. GAHS had two tackles over 300+ on defense. They were not mobile and our 270lbs boys pretty much put them where they wanted to put them.
Speed, I am not sure where people are getting that we do not have speed. Wilkes ran a 4.52 at the END of Physical Fitness, when you are DEAD TIRED. That is pretty darn fast. Warner is one of the FASTEST FullBacks that we have ever had if you just want to line up and run straight 40 yards. This team is just as Fast as the 89 Team.
You also do not have to have blazing speed to run off tackle. 5 yards a pop is hard to stop.

Tres Wilks ran a 4.4 40 this year ! If that's not speed, then what is?

Hager and Wilks (both starting running backs) were on the 4x100 track Team last season and set a new school record of 44.35.

they look pretty darn fast to me, as they stride out from defenders trying to catch them.

It has to be one of the biggest if not the biggest home filed advantages in the state,The other ones that come to mind are Massillon or possibly The Pit at Elder!
