Clay at New Boston

Post by rockyraccoon »

Should be a good match-up. New Boston won their first meeting 6 - 2, but Clay has improved since then. I show the game starting at 6:30pm which means they will be playing under the lights at New Boston, always a great place to play. Good luck to both teams.

Should be a great game. I'm going with a tie on this one. 2-2
If New Boston works there offsides trap to perfection I am going with a 3-0 win for the Tigers.

I'll take NB under the lights at home... should be a hard faught game though... I agree with GoCats that the offsides trap will be too much for the panthers to handle...

NB 2
Clay 0

Clay has had very few offsides calls after the first few games, and they don't play the longball to the keeper, so if NB tries to trap to far upfield clay will outrun them for a couple of open shots. Clay 4 - NB 2.

Clay wins 3 to 2. Valentine had all three goals for Clay, with assist by Chase Hiles and Eli Kelley? I think Courtney Delotel got the first on for NB or at least the assist, after she steals the ball at about 30 yards at and takes it in for a point blank shot. I didn't see who got their second one, but it was from left to right, hit the post and went in. Clay went up early on a 30 yard shot to the top of the goal that slipped thru the goalies fingertips. From that point on it was a battle for possession both ways. NB seemed to control the ball more and most likely took more shots, especially with the barrage of shots they took in the last 2 minutes. I don't know why but Clay couldn't get the ball past midfield in the last 10 minutes of the game. It made for a very exciting finish. I hope these two teams meet again in the Tourney, they are fun to watch. Good luck to both teams the rest of the season.

valentine has had a good year. he is a nice player. clay playing well. their field certainly gives them an edge and they take advantage of that. they work well in tight spaces.

I don't know how much advantage they get on that field. I know they hate playing on it. The ball doesn't roll or bounce true. Their last 3 games are on the road.
