Agreed, the Cavs caught fire as of late. I suspect GAHS isn't gonna just lay down and die either all I mean is now Jackson is likely to be looked at as the team to beat after securing a win over a excellent team. No disrespect was intended for the other schools who I'm sure will give their all against the Ironmen.

two things very evident tonight, our offense is not very good without Wilkes who creates many opportunities for others with his quickness. and secondly you can't win without someone who can kick extra points consistantly. This is not a slam at any player, I think the kicking game is very important and an issue that needs addressed the first practice of the year. A very tough loss in a game we should have won.

Greatest high school football game I have EVER watched! No doubt in my mind. BOTH teams should be proud of the way they played tonight. Both groups of young men played with more heart and desire than I could have ever imagined. The Ironton Fighting Tigers should not hang their head one bit.

Now, CONGRATULATIONS to the Jackson Ironmen! You boys heard all week that you didn't have a chance, even against a banged up Ironton squad. You've heard all season that you weren't a good football team, and that you hadn't beaten a quality opponent. Tonight, you shut every last one of those people up!!! This is a HUGE win for this season, the Jackson football program as a whole, and for the entire community that supports the Jackson program. Enjoy the win this weekend, because you fellas definitely EARNED it. Then on Monday it's time to get ready for Marietta. There are three more victories to an SEOAL title!

Nice win. In my opinion Jackson was more physical than Ironton especially in the first half. Jackson could have been easily up 21- to 6 at half. We moved the ball at will in the first. Our offensive line did a great job. The whole team played great, but I thought Mcnellys catch in the second ot was huge. Seemed to get the Jackson team the mo back and seemed to seal the deal.

Congrats Ironmen!!!!

You guys are now the team to beat in the SEOAL.

I still don't know how you guys managed to lose week one, but I highly doubt Wellston wants a rematch.

Chillicothe and Gallia Academy, and for that matter, Marietta, will all be difficult football games for the Ironmen. Winning an SEOAL title is not easy, and the Ironmen will have to be on top of their game the rest of the season. This team is taking nothing for granted. 3-0 in SEOAL play, with three more wins to get.

Maybe a crazy thing to say but the week 1 loss may have been the best thing that could've happened to Jackson. Their level of focus and desire to win definately has changed since the Wellston game.

What a game. Thought I was going to have a heart attack before it ended. Great to visit with my Ironton friends before the game. Ironton's band had a really great half time show. One of the best visiting bands I've seen at Alumni Stadium this year. Also one of the biggest and loudest group of fans. Good luck to Ironton the rest of the way and congratulations Ironmen.

Nice job of Ironton for hanging so tough with the Ironmen. We doubled up on every stat (except for punting yards) against the Tigers. Should not have been this close, but it sure was exciting. Funny how many bloggers could not make it to the game, but they seem to know everything. Jackson is one special team and soon all of Southern Ohio will know it. Roll Ironmen!!!!!

Ironman02 you apparently weren't at the Withrow playoff game in 2004. This was a great game but isn't close to the best ever tag. I put it in the top ten, but there were several games in 2003 & 2004 that were as good.

2004 Withrow is still by far the best team I have ever seen a Jackson team beat. Hands down.

Congrats to my beloved Ironmen.

I got a little excited there, ji81grad. No disrespect toward the 2004 Jackson team. That was a great win as well!

First game I've ever seen at Alumni Field and it was a dandy! A lot of momentum swings in this game. McNelly comes up with a big play in the second OT, then the Int to seal it. A fine way to spend a Friday evening.

Drove down from Dayton to watch it. Best High School game EVER! Way to go Ironmen. Stay focused and hungry.
