Week 8: Oak Hill (6-1) @ Symmes Valley (7-0)
Re: Week 8: Oak Hill (6-1) @ Symmes Valley (7-0)
I believe nobody is questioning who the better team was last night. Oak hill was the better team and they deserved to win. im sure there were verbal exchanges betwenn both teams, that is football. There are thinks that take place by the opposition as well as your own team taht you will not see or ever be told about. However, when you do it as openly and obvious as witnessed last night, it is very disrespectful during the game and after the game. SV takes pride in their program and will continue to be the best they can be. There were a few incidents witenessed taht SV could hve retaliated and I saw either a teammate or coach talk to the player and discourage the action and it was stopped. Didn't see that on the other side. Good luck to both teams in playoffs.

To the person downing SV's lighting. We are not all priviliged to have a new multi dollare stadium. I believe our field is much better and the lights are brighter than half of the other places we go. I can think of at least three stadiums that are much darker than ours.
Re: Week 8: Oak Hill (6-1) @ Symmes Valley (7-0)
I do not think it is good to call out specific players like this and I know people from both sides have done that. But I will say this, if you think #53 played dirty, you either don't know much about football or was just upset that a smaller player was getting low and making good plays on your larger boys. And as far as class goes, that young man has more class than anyone else I have ever seen at his age. I could say much much more, but I'll leave it at that.oak hill oak wrote:i was at the game and you cant say oak hill has been like this in anyother game! its because sv keep grabbing their throats and a couple cheap shots!! #51 and #53 for sv has no class! from what i seen the rest of the sv team was really respectful! slone should not of done what he did i will say that but from being right there sv made that happen! goodluck to both teams!
Re: Week 8: Oak Hill (6-1) @ Symmes Valley (7-0)
Great atmosphere last night. I look for Symmes Valley team to win the SOC 4 years in a row now. This is the first 40 man roster team they have had in a long time with only 5 seniors. Future looks bright for SV.

what team, year and what position did you play?pigskinguru wrote:Symmes Valley calling others classless. Priceless! I do believe Coach Webb has done an outstanding job there, but I can tell you that during my years of school against Symmes Valley (before Webb) there was no dirtier team than Symmes Valley, not even close.

Bleeding Red, it seems to me like I remember Oak Hill whining and crying about the loss a few weeks ago about how it would have been a much different game against my Falcons if Slone and Maynard were healthy. I don't think that is too gracious. I also don't see anyone on here from SV crying about the fact that they had 2 important starters out last night that had to have hurt them on both sides of the ball and caused some kids to have to go both ways the whole game. I am sure that could have been a difference in that second half. I wasn't there and not saying that would have changed the outcome but I'm impressed that the SV people aren't crying about it and making excuses. I only know because I ran in to one of those kids on his way to physical therapy last week, working to get his ankle healthy.Bleeding Red wrote:bucks2407 wrote:Fans and coaches of oak hill should be ashamed of their team... Well I saw the Oaks play at Minford and they were very class and gracious in defeat. Someone seems jealous. SV got THROTTLED tonight, I wouldnt be so unclassy and just give the Oaks their due If I were you.

i heard alot of nasty and unnecessary comments from many sv fans. especially a few in the press box and i know because i was in the press box and had to put up with the childish sore losers that couldnt stand the fact that their undefeated vikings were falling to a better team. i will admit that some oak hill players had a few plays that were uncalled for but that is hands down the most classless team and fans i have seen all year.

The boy I saw was named Bo, he was #24 (had a jersey on) is all I know. A guy I was with had seen SV play and said that this boy was the starting tackle on defense and played some end on offense. Looked like a real put together kid and athelete. I remember him saying the other boy's name as Jordan, I believe. I'll have to defer to someone from SV for any more info. though. Not sure how good the boys were, but missing 2 starters on any small school team has to have some kind of impact.

SV was missing Bo Arthur and Jordan Fulford. Both are offensive and defensive starters.

Remember as well, in the history of these teams playing, the recored stands somewhere around 35-8 in favor of Oak Hill. And, 4 of those wins came in 4 straight years.

To Buck2407. I guess you wasn't setting in the same stands I was. But we did have some idiots in the back row on the west set of stands yelling profanity and cussing players on the field. It is a disgrace to our team and school that some fans act like this!! And to everyone crying over the way the kids played, boohoo. It's FOOTBALL. The game is played with emotion!! Especially games like that. I've played in many of those game! The refs let the boys play and everyone knows that. The refs could have called many calls both ways. The game is over we seen who was the better team was! enough said! Good luck next week vikes

Re: Week 8: Oak Hill (6-1) @ Symmes Valley (7-0)
In response to those who think Oak Hill fans, parents or coaches should be ashamed of the unsportsman-like conduct of our players. Apparently I saw a different ball game from where I stood along the fence on Oak Hill's side of the field. I saw a A Symmes Valley team that got away with alot of cheap shots, and uncalled for actions like chocking one of our players repeatedly. So as a parent I would like to explain why we have every reason to be proud of our boys...
They went out every play knowing they were gonna get chop blocked, choked or delivered a cheap shot of some sort. Our boys went out there and kept playing hard even when they knew what was coming. They showed strength and courage out there if you ask me. As far as our players taunting the Symmes Valley crowd what did you expect? From where I stood I could hear fans on the Symmes Valley side yelling obscenities, and telling their players to kill outr quarter back and all kinds of rude classless stuff. And since when is raising you hands up in an effort to get the crowd into the game considered taunting. Maybe Jessie Slone is just a great athlete who feeds off the excitement from the crowd no matter which side it comes from.
Anyway, I think Oak Hill's players took more than any team should have to from Symmes Valley and if they got frustrated and said things or taunted the crowd that they were within their right. By the end of the game One of our kids was bleeding from his neck because of the continual choking and pinching of his neck. Maybe the Symmes Valley fans would have been happier if our player would have just layed down and let them rip his throat out. Come on people!!! At some point we need to teach our kids to stand up for themselves and when it became apparent the ref's were't gonna do it Our boys fought back and they did it by running theri mouths a little and then backing that up with their skills on the football field and not with their fists or with cheap shots. For that I am proud of Oak Hill.

Symmes Valley has always crossed the line of dirty play for as long as I can remember and it was no different this year. I actually think they are coached to do that because its been the same thing every year from them at least back to the mid 80's. It's actually kind of sad that the coaching staff thinks that is ok to do.

The Oak Hill Ladies Football team has always cried around when someone played too physical with them. I'm not a fan from Symmes Valley or anything but came to this game, because I just wanted to see a big game this week. From what I saw Oak Hill had WAY more unsportsmanlike calls on them than Symmes Valley did. I saw a helmet to helmet hit on the sidelines from them and several other things like that. If you can't take it, don't dish it out. I also saw some chicken crap things from them and a couple of their players. I won't name names or numbers or anything out of respect, but I saw one of their cover men actually turn his back and fall to the ground when a block was coming and trip an SV boy. SV actually got the flag on them because the official only caught the tail end of it and thought the SV boy hit him in the back. I was sitting there watching it right in front of me. The reason it drew my attention was because just before that play the Oak Hill boy spent the entire time before the play pointing at the scoreboard and taunting the SV fans.
I have said it before and I'll say it again. SV Coaching Staff and player is one of the classiest well organized programs I have seen in the area. I have now seen them 3 times this year, and enjoyed every time I've watched them. Just old fashion smash mouth football.

Physical enough to win 40-13 I guess.

I didn't say they weren't a good team. I do think they had the better team than SV did. I just said that they are a bunch of big show boating babies. From looking at their roster in the program, they are totally done after this year.
