You're Tiger Bait wrote:BONUS PICK -- Columbus Hartley @ Ironton -- the tiggers watered down their schedule this year with "winners" like Fairbanks and instead of DeSales, they added smaller & weaker Hartley. Good thing they did, but won't save them from another loss. The Hawks are quick and have skills while the tiggers feature their usual brawn but little else. This should be a close game, but Hartley's better schedule should give them an edge over the weaker tigger schedule. In an upset at the homecooking Tanks stadium -- HARTLEY------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------these are paladin's words , just wanted you to know. he is so ate up with it. the tigers ran roughshod over hartley. ytb.

Yeah, it was really a close game..............NOT!

Just goes to show his ENVY and JEALOUSY of Ironton Football. After all, who leads that series???????

Paladin the Fake..............nice job buddy. I like to read you picks while I sit on the toilet. Thats the best place for this reading.

As if he wouldn't have hassled Ironton if they had scheduled a down DeSales team this year! Instead, Ironton scheduled a good Hartley team who is fielding their best squad in years and has a decent football tradition with a State Championship of their own under their belt. They're in Ironton's region. This was a decent measuring stick of how Ironton should fair in the playoffs. Has anyone in the SEOAL even come close to winning a state football championship? It's a joke of a conference and no team in it is a better team for being a member. Playing mediocre teams that are bigger than you doesn't make you better. No one in that conference will get past the 1st round of the playoffs. Ironton, if at full strength and playing their best football, is a regional champ at worst.

Paladin, your pick on warren was wrong. We held chilli all but 2 plays. i think they have a good team but no chance at Jackson. You’re welcome for the win at warren. Consider it the 1 out of 10 times you could beat us this season. We could play 9 more times at your field and you would not win another. It must feel great to go 2-6 to this point after you lectured me preseason about how the coaching staff was still the same and the kids would just continue to be the same Logan team. Its also funny to read about how injuries keep a slow but steady reason for Logans losses, you and all others laughed at Marietta for complaining about injuries. You must be a young man, with few life lessons to be as arrogant as you are. If I am wrong and you’re a older man or adult, well that is even more sad than I thought. Keep speaking the truth ol’ bud. You make yourself look better and better each week.

What does that have to do with Ironton/SEOAL? The assertion has been made that somehow playing in the SEOAL would somehow make Ironton better. That is not true. Ironton would have gotten better competition in the SOCII this year than in the SEOAL. Yeah, Jackson beat Ironton this year. Big deal. Let them play each other at full strength and see who wins. Ironton will beat them at least 9 times out of 10. The league is a joke in football.

fuzzhead,

Are you saying that the SEOAL is a joke this season, or every season? I disagree on both accounts, but I'm just curious as to what you actually mean.

The SEOAL is the OVC of D2 and D3. Big schools with mediocre football programs. Ironton gains nothing by joining it except cheap playoff points like they got against Chilly and Gallipollis - two "contenders" for the SEOAL title. LOL
Only difference between now and recent years is the fact that Logan sucks and the conference keeps dwindling down. The mindset of the teams is simply to win te conference, not to compete at a higher level - just like the OVC. And just like the OVC, the playoff record is a testament to this fact.

Fanatic, I was talking about the all-time series record. Ironton actually wins more than 9 of 10 times. But using your logic, does Wellston beat Jackson 9 of 10 times this year? How about 5 of 10? Doubt it.

fuzzhead,

I think the SEOAL, as a whole, is one of the best leagues in SE Ohio nearly every season. If you're talking about a statewide level, then, yes, the SEOAL doesn't compare favorably with many of the other areas of Ohio. However, that's not an SEOAL problem. That's a SE Ohio problem. I think fans of the SEOAL are aware how they compare to the rest of the state, but calling the league a joke is a bit harsh. It's a good league for this area, and a below average league when looking at the entire state. Nothing more, nothing less.

My whole point is: don't knock Ironton for choosing to leave the SEOAL when they don't offer Ironton any better competition than they've played elsewhere. Paladin makes fun of Ironton for leaving that conference and scheduling supposedly "cheap" big points wins when the reality is that's all the SEOAL is - a paper weight conference filled with mundane to flat out bad bigger schools that Ironton owns. I'm neutral. I just call it how I see it.

Who cares what Paladin says? He doesn't represent the SEOAL.

Ironton knew what they were getting with the SEOAL, and if they weren't happy with that, they should have never joined. Most SEOAL fans I know don't have a problem with Ironton's schedule. They have a problem with them leaving the SEOAL three times. You're either in or you're out.

Ironton is smart about who they schedule. They know it's all about playing a good balance of schools that will garner computer points. Play a couple tough games to challenge the team and possibly pick up HUGE computer points, and then play a bunch of decent teams that will win a lot of games for you. They simply know how to take advantage of the system, and you can't blame them for that.

thats so bogus ironman. look at ironton's schedule and their win /loss records. this has nothing to do with the seoal, just the last statement. i mean literally every year we are in the playoffs, and nearly every year at home week 1. that is based solely on schedule strength.

the perfect example should you wish to check, is see where jackson stands after 1 loss, and where ironton stands after 2 losses. we simply played a more competitive schedule. i'm not comparing programs. you beat us. but overall schedule strength.

No, it's not bogus. Look at your schedule this season. You play Jonathan Alder, who is a VERY good football team. Had you beaten them, you would have gained a TON of computer points. Bishop Hartley is the other premier out of area opponent. They're gonna win a bunch of games, and since you beat them, you're gonna benefit from it. Then you have games with good teams like Burg, GAHS, Jackson, Ashland, Russell, etc. They're all teams that Ironton has beaten soundly in the past, and more often than not, will continue to do so. I never once called your schedule weak. I called it smart. Play a bunch of good teams that you know you can beat most years, and then sit back and watch them get you compputer points. Play a couple higher profile games (i.e. DeSales in the past among others) that you might win, in which case you'll get a ton points, but if you do lose, you will have played a competitive team that will make your kids battle-tested for the playoffs. Stop trying to get mad by reading something that isn't there.
