Loganchiefsnation ... two words ... Licking Valley. East Liverpool isn't as good as them, but our young kids learned that day if you don't bring your A game, you can be beaten. We were up 17-6 starting the fourth quarter and let them off the hook.

Well yes they are; OSU beat a ranked Miami, Boise St beat a #6 ranked Va Tech team, and TCU I will say is alot like Zanesville. Beat teams they should have beat but truly not tested very much. The whole point I was making is Zanesville is an apparent good football team that has not been tested very much, lost to the only decent team they played and is scoring points on teams they should be scoring points on. Its hard to get a real gage on them for the fact that they havent played to many tough opponents to know how good they really are.

Loganchiefsnation ... I reiterate ... we beat the best team we played. I'm sure you've at least heard of Licking Valley, correct? No way we should have lost to EL, but we did. But I guarantee you that LV's better than they are.

Ill give you licking valley for sure. Lost to New Albany and Zanesville and beat a really good Heath and Granville team. With Newark Catholic looming they will find out how good they really are. Quality win for the Devils for sure.

Newark Catholic is down this year, so we don't expect them to give LV much of a problem.

This is the issue you have with scheduling as an independent, and it bit us last year, too. Park was always a team with a solid record. They won one game last year, and have won one game this year. Hillsboro was 8-2 last year and was expected to at least be decent this year. I think they just won their second game. New Philly was 9-1 last year, but has pretty much struggled this year. Going into the ECOL next year will be helpful ... but you still have to win games.

I agree, I dont know how teams without a league do it?? Its tough to rely on programs to be deep year in and year out but I guess you get that in any situation, league or not. I was in no way knocking the devils or their program, just saying its hard to gage their success with the schedule. nothing more. But they will be a tough beat, with those wins comes confidence and Logan is seeking an identity at this point with a team that had to grow up quick this year.

No doubt we're hard to figure. The easy out for more people is to decry the schedule. It is what it is. I think in one case we had a choice between one of these teams and St. Ignatius. Doesn't take a rocket scientist to figure that one out. :D

The first half of a season usually isn't too difficult since that's when most are playing non-conference games. It's when everyone else gets into their conference schedules in the second half of the season when you get these weird matches. For example, Week 10, we get to drive to Mt. Orab. That means leaving school around 1:30 in the afternoon. And we're not totally sure what we're going to run into at the other end of the trip -- though we know Hillsboro beat Western Brown to start the season.

Aw, heck, I just look forward to Friday night's game and having the Chieftains back in our stadium for the first time (I think) since we began our refurbishing program. One thing for sure -- y'all are going to have plenty of seating on the visitors side.

We were there playing Louisville in the playoffs in 2008. Man, while I won't be at this game, I hope the weather is better than that night. The gales of November came calling (with all apologies to Gordon Lightfoot).

One quality win just like Ohio State, Boise St (if you consider VaTech a good win) and TCU

scheduling is for the most part a crap shoot. teams are up and down all the time. i think its a matter of what you consider up and down or by what teams stands of up and down are.

Had to correct the top, I shortchanged Logan one win (I'm not good at math, lol).

Look, I don't care who Zanesville has played. They didn't get to 6-1 by accident. And Logan has blown out anyone, good or bad. The Chiefs probably should have won more comfortably last Friday, but they didn't.

Logan will have to play with MAXIMUM effort and HAS to play with more consistency and FINISH plays. If they do those things, they'll have a shot.

But Zanesville's defense hasn't given much to Logan in since Grandstaff took over. Logan's defense hasn't handled a good running game yet either. But maybe they are due to "put it all together" this week.

All I know is Zanesville will REALLY be hungry. They have to feel like the "owe Logan" a loss - just like every other team on the schedule so far.

Logan is in a "playoff" scenario of their own - Logan hasn't had a losing season since 1997, and with 5 losses in 7 games Logan must win out to keep that streak alive.

Going to be a tall order, but Logan MAY be due for a break out game.

They'll need it on Friday night.
