I know that the Clay records haven't been kept well for soccer because everyone believes Clay to be a basketball school. So soccer has been very neglected. I remember distinctly Davis being at the top of the league his junior year with Lower from South Webster and each were in or near the 30+ goals mark. So that doesn't include any that he may have and most likely scored. I also think Chris Robinson had 25 his senior season.

Assists are a different story. As far as I know, the single season is 24 and the career is 61.

Valentine is a good goal scorer. Wish Clay the best of luck tonight!

All I can go off of is the school's website which shows Zach Parker having the most goals in a season at 27 and most career goals at 53 (I thought it was 57). Jake Davis was a mentor to Valentine and challenged him to go after his records, and has made comments by text that he had a 24 season high, and 54 career. If that is the case, Valentine is now at 24 this season and 55 total career goals.

Yeah I talked to Jake's brother and I think you are correct. I played with Jake and assisted many of his goals and I could have sworn it was more, but I may be misstaken.

A friend suggested I check the site out, Perhaps I can be of some assistance.

The trophies and documents in which I have from Clay High School (right or wrong, we could argue all day I am sure) state that I hold the following records.

1. Most goals in a season (regular season*)- 27
2. Most goals in a career- 58

* Unfortunatly, my Freshman and Senior seasons, I failed to score any post-season goals. All three post season golas came against St. Joe. 2 my Sophomore year and 1 my Senior year. Taking that into account. I actually tallied 28 goals my Senior season (27 being regular season)

I'm not sure what the web site shows, but I am more than willing to provide the documentation that was given to prior to graduation my Senior year.

This all being said, I too think the sufficient information to properly tally Jake's goals has been left behind or thrown away or something. I think the school pretty much got sick of everyone asking so they figured they would start fresh and just say I was the record holders.

I wish Jon and the Panthers all the luck in the world. Records are meant to be broken.

I just want to say that I'm not trying to take anything away from Parker or Valentine, but I don't think the records were kept the way they should have been. I think Jake may have had more goals than what is said, but that's just me. I know Chris Robinson had several goals his junior and senior years and is close to the record. I, myself, don't believe I'm close to the career only having 50 with only 20 my senior year. But, I pride myself on being an assist guy.

Since the records haven't been kept up to date, other than the past few year, I will talk to Principal Warnock to see if there is a way to keep better track because these efforts need to be recognized!

Good luck Panthers in your next game!

I agree. Like I said, I think I was given the records because nobody really knew what any of the previous statistics were. They probabaly felt like now was as good as time as any and started keeping real track after my senior year.

Jake very well may have had many more goals than I or Valentine, the same with Chris. I just wanted to clear up things the best I could with the information given to my prior to graduation.

I am trying very hard to locate the information I collected during my years of coaching at Clay. With the help of Ruth Boll I was able to put together a bunch of different stats and records. I last coached 2001/2002 so I do not have info. on anything after me leaving the program.

If that is the case, he will have to get three more career goals to tie. Season is already to late, he ended this year at 20 with about 15+ assists and last year at 22 and 14 assists. Whether he gets the record or not he had a good run, and gave up a lot of open shots to kids who tallied their first goals.
Clay's main goal now is to beat SJ, and that has always held priority over records, is to play to win. Hopefully they can get past SJ and then upset the Burg at home! Good luck Panthers.
