NO PRESSURE FOR BELPRE!!!!

Post by justlookin »

It's close to basketball time and this years team has no pressure but to play ball. Last years team was always the group that was to bring Belpre the State Championship, great kids just wasn't in the cards. This years team has really good players just waitin for their chance. The coaching staff should be able to plug-n-play this year with this versatile team. Waitin for the official start of practice to see who is and who ain't playin. Not going to predict a 20-0 season but a winning one anyway. Good luck boys and TVC Hocking teams on a great year of basketball.

Be careful. many of the posters from belpre got on here spouting off about how much better they were gonna be in football with the new weight room and the new coaching staff and how great it was going to be! they dont seem too excited now.

You don't tackle and throw blocks in basketball, at least it's not legal LOL!!! The football team had some bad luck when the coach had heart surgery right before the season started, the AD stepped in and done a good job while he was there, then the confidence of the team went away. I don't look for the basketball team to go winless and the coaching staff is returning from last year with a better understanding of what the kids can do, should be a great year for the players.

Losing so much from last years team I just don't see it.The JV team was awful last year.Belpre returns Waderker,Waltkins, and Miller along with Jv players Nestor and Steven Francis. They will be ok but in the TVC but I don't see them beating Warren or Fort Frye.I consider Belpre the 5th or 6th best basketball team in Washington County.

Not sure if Watkins is going to play this year, heard he was not. Also up from the JV team will be a much improved Brooks Sizemore who will be a force under the basket. Also Cody Sellers has returned to Belpre and he will give them a lot of help. With
Waderker,Miller,Francis,Nestor,Hoffman and possibly Freshman Jake Ullman Belpre could have a very competetive team

Sad to say that Brooks Sizemore will not be playing nor is Tyler Watking or Clay Ullman. This does not mean in any way that the eagles will not have a good team this year. As Eaglepaw said returners Miller and Waderker from varsity last year. They also have Nestor, Leasure, Francis, Jake ullman and Sellers who is returning from years past. The team will be quick and ready to play ball when the season comes.

I like the Belpre kids but they are just not on same level of Fort Frye,Warren,or Marietta.I think they will struggle to beat Waterford.I see 6 to 9 wins.

Don't they now have the football and basketball coaches that the up town crowd has been clamoring for. Now lets see what they do with the teams over the next few years.

Belpre has a great coach for both basketball and football but I don't see any blowouts to come for Belpre in basketball this year. Warren and fort Frye will be their toughest competitors. Anyone else will be good games as well but Belpre has the talent to win them if everyone's head is in the right place.

They won't beat Waterford at home and they won't beat FH home or away. Belpre is in for a long season . Why isn't the Sizemore kid playing ?

Honestly, no one knows who will win any games. All i know is belpre will have a good team simply put, they won't be crushed by any teams this year, they all will be close fought ball games. And Sizemore is moving to Cincy area, no idea why...

Ranger, based on who you say is coming back, they are going to struggle a bunch. Terrible leadership and administration has doomed this school district. it is very sad to watch.

IMO, the seniors along with coach Parsons will have a succesful year considering your thoughts about leadership.

Not really sure what the administration has to do with basketball. The freshman team from last year that won the TVC Championship will contribute this year with a few seeing varsity time. The boys will play hard and be in shape that is one thing Belpre fans can count on. Nov 5 is just around the corner............

Not sure of why there is all the hate from some folks concerning Belpre.

The new weight room will pay dividends for all sports. Seeing how it was just opened up the first of June, this would be an unreasonable assumption that it would have an immediate effect for football so soon, especially since weight lifting for football has been lacking for several years. Coach Parsons and company have been using it since day one but in D-3 basketball, it is more about team, chemistry and skills than it is about weight lifting.

Belpre should be ok this year as it would appear that expectations for this team are much more grounded that what some would have had others to believe out of last year's team.

At least this years team should avoid the off-court theatrics that has plagued the program.

I don't really care if this team is the first or worst team in Washington County. What I care about is that on the nights that Belpre plays, they are the team that out hustles the other team and executes sound, fundamental ball and checks the fancy stuff at the door. I just want them to be the best team on the court on the nights that they are playing. Everything else will take care of itself as the season progresses.

Belpre's players may be lacking recognition to outsiders, but there are plenty of good players that will be suiting up for them this year and I think they will have a good year. The most important way to grade a team over the course of the season is; are they a better team as the season progresses and when the season is winding down, are the players and coaches sad to see the end or are they playing out the string and just waiting on baseball or track?

I think this year's team will be a good team to watch and I plan to see them as much as possible.

As always...
