Not an assistant nor did I play at RV.

What is 16-14 from 02-03?

I'm not telling you who you support... you stated yourself that you were a Blue Devil Backer... I was only quoting you.

Since you THINK there are too many coaches coaching today that are not qualified to coach kids... please, tell us, in your opinion, what qualifies a person to coach kids?

Also, please share with us about this new basketball coach at RV that puts effort into unlike the last few they had.... how do you know how much effort the last few put into it?

As for the coaches making comments that you say.... I don't buy it. If you've heard it as you say you must be close to someone on the staff.
YOU get real

Coach hill is a good guy and will do a good job. There are alot of good coaches out there and its so hard to coach these days due to parents and politics that goes along with this area, lets just be honest but when talent is bad, talent is bad and no parent will ever say my kid is bad..Im not saying rv kids are bad but when you lose this is the excuse..its the coaches fault..its the coaches fault that the boy cant make free throws or cant tackle or dribble a ball. Coach oz is a great coach but he cant teach everyone to shoot in 2 years of practice. and if that team has a kid that is not too good, can oz help him..yes...make him great..not always, but he still is the man.
that is not a crack at oz because I love the man its just saying coaching means alot but its not always the coach... Hill did a good job taking over the team in a difficult situation losing stout. I went to the Rv football game fri and it was my first in years and besides the moms behind me that was fired up the rest of the time the atmoshphere was like a bake sale. The kids played hard and in the 2nd qtr looked good. I liked the passing game the showed in the 2nd qtr, their wr is very good. but there was times where RH ran them over. It happens and its not always the coaches fault...I wont blame the rv coach because I am not at practice, Im sure they teach football but if this coach is so bad who was he hired over when hired? and why was he hired..because he was on staff previousy? or local? was he the best canidate or was he a safe choice. About RH complaining fri bout calls I would of too...guy who sat in front of me from rv was yelling refs keep those silver helmets on we will take all u will give. I agree the roughing call was bs.
Gahs Hired Coach eddy..some good coaches from GAHS applied but they felt he was the best choice and it takes time to put in what he wanted...its kinda funny some who wanted to hang him now are big supporter. Jimie Johnson went 1-15 his first year before winning 3 super bowls.
Do you think That Shaq's coaches have not worked with him on free throws? should we fire them because he has the touch of a brick layer?
Coach trent was a good coach but couldnt survive in todays game due to not his mind...he is old school which is not always a bad thing. I remember vs Logan he had 2 players change their jersey because he didnt want logan to run at a weak player and changed numbers and this was a very good idea but illegal.
rv did come out of the locker room at half fired up but it didnt last long.
Blue is right aout teaching the game...angles, footwork..little things..in basketball I have watched many practices of coaches who stretch, few drills, play but never teach footwork, free throws, not just letting them shoot but teach form....same goes for football...again I have no idea what goes on at a rv practice but today the athletes are better but you still have to teach fundementals and stop just rolling out the ball and let them play unless you are the Miami Heat...they just need a baby sitter there :)
Ill give you an example of a good coach and what happens sometimes.....at Marietta a few years back their Girls coach was a very good coach...was he alittle diff..yea...little bold...yea but this is his style.
he won the league championship and got coach of the year but because some younger players parents complained because he didnt want to play the younger kids because his team was very good and would rather keep them playing together at the jv or fresh level again because of his team was very deep and was able to win the SEOAL without them and win the "coach of the year" was let go because of these kids not being moved up....He won it all....but most boards would rather hire a politician or a peace maker than hire a coach that wants to win that will always do the right thing for the team...
GOOD LUCK ALLL COACHES......some people feel for you...

I wasn't knocking Jordan Hill in my post. He did a great job last year.

Actually, blu nd gray, I think RV went 4-1 non conf. then finished 2-3 in OVC play that year (02). I could be wrong though.

I am not gauging success by how little we lose but for the first time in a long time I was encouraged by what I saw Friday night from RV. Some of the passing and receiving was fantastic. Physical size on the line once again played a role in giving the QB time to work but when he got them off, the receivers were picking them out of the air, making phenomenal receptions.

I am not familiar enough with the kids any more to know what grades they are in but if the QB and the receivers are underclassmen and some linemen develop, they may just be able to put something together next year.

Something else different about the game was that they scored against the first string and not just when the other team's JV was put in. Tackling was better and the team swarmed the ball as well as they have all year. They were putting some pressure on the backfield as well. Was it great? No but it was better than what we have been seeing.

I believe that if the coach can put together a larger, more physical, line or perhaps the existing players can grow into their slots, he may have the beginning of something in the upcoming year.

If I remember right, that season, RV had a very skilled QB protected by a large line. Two of the key linemen, Semaki Corfias and Tyler Kelly were sidelined with serious injuries. Corfias ripped his bicep and Kelly seperated his shoulder. From that point forward, Graham never had the protection he needed to play with his aggressive style.

RV also had some pretty good speed in those stretches, too.

Good senior leadership in those two classes also.
