Week 9: OVC - Coal Grove (7-1; 3-0) @ Fairland (3-5; 2-1)

Coal Grove has blown out every conference foe they've faced so far. Fairland is coming off a decisive mini-upset loss to arch-rival Chesapeake. Thoughts?

I would say Fairland has a chance but Fuzzhead would get on me so I say Grove by 55.

fairland is just too beat up to compete really, i hate to say it but CG by 2 td's.

CG by however many they want. There are times that football should have a "mercy rule".
CG will be trying to make a statement to the playoff computer; could be a blowout such as they had against RV & RH, but FHS will prolly score 20 or so.

First of all, I think Fairland has a chance. They always have a chance against CG. The Hornet secondary will be tested. Fairland will air it out and CG will have to stop it. Fairland has some speed and a big o-line. The Hornets will need to make good open-field tackles.

^^^^^what do you mean Fairland has a chance? A few weeks ago when I said I thought that any team in the OVC would be 0 and 5 with who chesapeake played. YOU said that THE GROVE is much better than SYMMES VALLEY and we would not stand a chance against the GROVE so since the PEAKE beat Fairland, the Dragons surely don't stand a chance against the BIG GROVE!

Vike, we're not going to make this a SV/CG thread. Got it? Good. It's all about matchups. Fairland airs it out and uses a lot of 'bubblegum' trickeration. CG hasn't been able to handle stuff like that in the last decade or so. Fairland also has a good-sized line - slow, but big. Don't get me wrong, I expect CG to win this pretty easily, but if they let Fairland get into a rhythm, this could turn into a shootout in a hurry. If Fairland's pursuit is as bad as it was against Chesapeake, #2 for CG could run for 200 yards around the ends...

Fairland has a big slow Oline. Run them in a wedge right at CG, should work then play action. Good passing qb that is really mobile. Easy button!! LOL

There has always been a good rivalry between all the ovc teams but CG will definitely win the next 2 games and has a good chance of hosting a home game in week 11. Make all the excuses that you want but the Grove is on a roll and is looking really good this year. I think the secondary is looking better and they have a bunch of great running backs that any one of them could have over a 100 yds rushing on any given night. Now, combine that with a good qb and a defense that won't stop and you have a playoff team. ... The Grove by 3 td's!!! :122246
