No body said Shears wasn't a good player because he is... What Crab is saying is Yates is better, and honestly after watching both play it's not even close. Once again, not a knock on Shears... It's more of a testament to how good of a player Yates is. Yates is so in control of the offense and looks so comfortable in the pocket or on the move when things break down that things have to be in slow motion for the kid. The way he reads the defense and spreads the ball around is something you don't see very often in HS football around this area.

I think the keys in this game are very much like the keys in Valley's game against West... Burg has to find a way to contain Yates and Valley has to stop the run. Of course penalties and turnovers play a part in every game, but I think Valley wins if they don't turn the ball over.

The difference in this game will be Shank. Not the way everyone thinks though. Shank will be at LB to stop Yates from running wild. West didnt have an athlete at LB to do that (Pendleton was hurt) this will be the difference IMO.

[quote="SPAMONY"] Shank will be at LB to stop Yates from running wild.

If that happens Holcomb will have a HUGE night receiving out of the back field, especially since the other LB's are not that athletic. The catch at the west game where he was tripped, falling down and still caught it...

If Holcomb get's behind Shank because he's spying Yates.... huge gains if not a TD.

Very valid point. I think this could be a huge factor in the outcome of the game.

That catch was one of the more impressive catches I've seen in a very long time. Holcomb is a tremendous athlete.

Fido I agree.... It's History Vs. Horses Tough call.
If it was a school with a different name, but same players I'd take the horses this time, but I'm unsure that Valley has the will to win and not implode on the first miscue.

Last week the talk was that West BIG, STRONG line would dominate Valleys undersized line, and etc. Valley handled that just fine. Another week, and another set of doubters. Valley will continue to go out and play VERY hard, as the winner of this game earns at LEAST a share of the SOC2 championship.

Good Luck Indians, continue to silence the doubters!

This Burg fan knows that Valley will be hard to beat. They have seen a qb just like Yates in the name of Fisher from Fairland. He was explosive against the Burg. The difference is Valley has other weapons and a better D. Burg will not be able to spy Yates. I think the coaching staff will try to man up receivers and take their chances getting pressure on Yates. Burg's offense will score so if Yates runs free its a shootout.

West's O line is very good but much smaller than Burg's O line.

I thought west's Line was a very good one, Are you saying burg is better or just bigger??? not one in the same, imo.

I was also impressed with the O line from Valley, Yates had time to throw, except for the 5 wide sets. Yates did not pick up the hot route. Maybe they need the Red 1 audible...

I think that Valley's ability to spread the field and be productive in both the run and pass games is what gives them the edge here. There is no doubt that Burg has played a better schedule to this point, but look at the types of teams they have played and beaten/had success against. It has been widely said that Burg did a great job defensively against Ironton and Minford. Both those teams are run first, pass only when desperate, type offenses. Burg lost to Oak Hill and their balanced offense and struggled to stop Portsmouth's spread as well, needing to put up a ton of points to get that win. Fairland's one man show, Chad Fisher, was also productive against this Burg defense. Burg will have more than their hands full with Yates, Holcomb, and company, but so will Valley when Shank and the Pirates have the ball. Friday can't get here fast enough......

I thought both of the O lines were very good against Minford.

It gets really hard to catch the ball in the cold weather, could that play a factor??? I think so.....

Does Valley still do the internet broadcast that they streamed online a few years ago? I will be working late and unable to be there.
