They can say all they want about Hale at Oak Hill, but can Hale line up behind center and play QB if needed? I highly doubt it.

His performance tonight was one of the best I've ever seen by a Burg back and that is almost 35 years of watching Burg footbal. IMO, the best back Burg has ever had put on a uniform and there has been some good ones.

I think everyone in the stadium knew who was getting the ball and with the big O-line making holes for him, Valley couldn't stop him.

Great job Burg and now on to bring back the Gold trophy back to the Burg next week against West.

Valley has a very nice team and next weeks showdown with Minford should be a dandy. Good chance Burg could meet either one of them in the playoffs hopefully in Portsmouth. Man, would that stadium be packed.
You need to qualify your statement. "He is the best player in the area.... NOW... to qualify it even further, he is the best player in the area who is not injured. Lookin at it from a microscope.. "He is the best player in the area that does not have 8 pins in his leg, and two plates....." pay respects to "THE BEAST"
No he doesn't. His statement is 100% correct. Brandon Schankweiler is the beat player in the area. To many people who have seen both Pendleton and Schank play over the course of the season have said the same thing and these are people that have no ties to either school. Show me another player from our area that can run the ball like he does from the TB position, line up behind center when needed and run the offense, play LB on defense, return KO's and punts, and catch the ball coming out of the backfield and do it all to prefection. Hell, I bet he even sells popcorn at halftime.

Pendleton is a geat back but what did he do against the Pirates last year. It was less than 50 yards if I recall correctly. He doesn't have near the speed that Brandon does and can he line up and play QB.

Schankweiler will be the PDT's Player Of The Year and the SOC's POY as well. Mark my words.
First off I think Shankweiler is a great back. He's one of the better around Southern Ohio. But you can't compare him Pendleton. Trevon has only had one game over 20 carries in his career at West. Shankweiler has 25+ a week. Trevon averaged 10.9 per carry this season. Shankweiler is not even close to that. We can even compare common opponents. Against Portsmouth Trevon has 11 carries 231 yds. n 3 tds. with a 60 yarder called back (block behind the play). Shank had a good game to. he had something like 27 carries for 179yds. If trevon got 27 carries by my calculations he would have went over 500 yds. You can ask the Portsmouth fans this as well. he would have done it that night. They were scared to tackle him. We can even compare the Minford game. Shankweiler had a great game vs. Minford this year but people tend to forget that Trevon had 15 Carries for 115 yds. and 2 tds with 2 minutes left in the 1st half before his injury. People want to talk about everything Shank does, which is a lot, but Trevon also lead Southern Ohio in tackles the past 2 years. And was well on his way to do it again. You also have to take into consideration the people around the two players. The Wheelersburg offensive line is the best in Southern ohio bar none. Lastnight on many runs Shank wasn't getting touched until 10 yards downfield. Granted West has gotten a lot better up front but they aren't on burgs level. If you compare the two head to head over their careers Trevon definatly takes the cake. Last year neither of them done much. As Craigmiles and Lang torched West. And the year before It was The Trevon Pendleton Show with about equal talent around the two players. In one of the biggest games ever in Southern ohio, Pendleton a (sophomore) put West on his back and won them the SOC championship in a battle of unbeatens. Now I'm not taking anything away from Shankweiler as i think he's a great player. But if you take a step back and compare the two their is really no argument who the better player is. It's PENDLETON

Wrong, first game Shank ever got 25+ carries. You have your opinion and I respect that but to say one is better than the other is dumb. If anything they are even. In my opinion, shank is a notch above pendelton because he is more versatile on offense, he has the best field vision i have ever seen at Burg.

Sorry FIDO, I didn't realize you were a Valley fan. You are definitely a class act yourself and true southern Ohio SPORTS fan.

By the way, are you still in town? If you want to come by and take a look at my collection I'll shoot my phone number to you in a PM and you can give me a call and stop by. Ozzie and Biggdowgg both know where I live, but it's real easy to find. Brick house right across the street from where the old grade school was in the Burg on Dogwood Ridge. I have to work the tonight, Sunday, and Monday but I'm usually up by 2 pm every day and then I'm off Tuesday and Weds.

About the game... Burg controlled the line of scrimmage, plain and simple. That 4th quarter drive was a killer.
I just watched parts of the game on the website. Great video with replays and I like the game information at the top of the screen. Very nice!!

I did laugh when after the onside kick in the 4th quarter, the play by play guy said "That's what a team like Burg will do, run up the score on you"

Goat, Shank avg's around 9.6ypc, and he avg's around 15 carries a ballgame. I will agree that the burg has the better oline but west probably has more talent at the other skilled positions opposite Pend than the burg has opposite Shank. Without Pend all yr I am guessing west still wins 7-8 ballgames, without Shank the burg wins 3-4 games.

fbnut, I agree that West is a touch better at the skill positions but last time I checked it's all about the big guys upfront for runningbacks. There is a decisive advantage for Burg there. Trevon averaged 10 carries a game. The first half against Minford was the most carries he's had all season. The coaching staff was keeping him fresh throughout the season for the big games and playoff run. he ended up getting hurt. I feel without Trevon West would win 5-6 games. I also feel Burg would still win 4 games without Shank. But you also have to factor in the strength of schedule with Wheelersburg played a much tougher schedule than West played. So we can throw all that out. I feel both are great players, but to say that Shank is better than Pendleton by looking at both's body of work is wrong.

I tell the guys all the time that it is OK to be a bit biased, it is afterall their classmates and friends on the field, but not to get too crazy. We really want to put on a professional show, they do a great job. After that comment on running up the score, he immediatly looked at me with an "oops" look. Not sure that is what he meant to say.

That production is nothing but class! I think it's better than the zone. Keep up the good work.

Go Burg!

I agree. The Zone tries to zoom in on the ball carrier and you end up missing to much of the action. Basketball is even worse when they try to follow the man with the ball and you miss the other stuff going on around the court and half the time they miss shots when a long pass is made. The football has gotten better since I emailed them and complained about it. VSN though is great because they show replays from several different angles and do a great job of showing the entire play. I just wish it played for me at work. lol

Im pretty sure he meant what I said...It sounded to me like he meant to say "Teams like Burg will score points on you when you make mistakes" but instead it came out the other way...

Either way you guys run a 1st class show, and I'll be tuned in friday night!

Valley = Class Act.

Need to play some tougher competition in the early season to take it to the next level, but this team is good.

Might see Burg again.

I agree, the production and video is much better than the zone. I love the replays and being able to see all of the game info at the top of the screen. Very nice job!

I didn't mean anything bad by pointing out his comment, I just thought it was funny. I also agree that it is ok to be somewhat bias.....it is the Valley network and they have the right to give their opinions. Keep up the good work!!

Congrats to the Pirates. You have to give them credit. Everybody was writing them off at the beginning of the year, but here they are, staring at the opportunity for a gold football. It's a shame that Trevon won't play in this game, b/c it would most certainly be a truly special moment in SOC II lore. But, in comparing the two, I think Coop is right. They're both great backs, but I don't really think you can compare them. Their styles are completely different. Trevon is a bull...Shank is greased lightning. I'm not saying that Trevon isn't extremely explosive, or that Shank won't lower the boom, but at their cores, they're different backs.

Wheelersburg is not 'staring at the opportunity for a gold football'; they have the gold football already as they have a guaranteed share of the SOC. The color doesn't change with a shared title--that is the SVC that does that.
