Week 9: SEOAL - Chillicothe (3-5, 3-1) at Jackson (7-1, 4-0)

Post by ironman02 »

The Jackson Ironmen will host the Chillicothe Cavaliers in an important SEOAL contest on Senior Night this Friday. The Ironmen remained perfect in league play with a 33-10 win at Marietta in Week 8, while the Cavs suffered their first league loss to Warren, 17-13. This game features two teams that love to run the football and play hard-nosed defense, and SEOAL title and playoff aspirations will be on the line. A Jackson win would give the seniors a nice memory in what may be their last game at Alumni Stadium and also clinch at least a share of the SEOAL championship. A Chillicothe win would get them back into the SEOAL title picture, as they still have only one league loss. Should be a great atmosphere at Alumni Stadium.

What does everyone think about the game?

Cavs played nearly a perfect game against GAHS while Blue Devils had five turnovers and 100 yards in penalties.

Time to step up for the seniors.

What more could they want but to control their own destiny and clinch an SEOAL championship at home.

QB, O-line, Klay...lead the way to the title......underclassmen pick it up where needed.

Huge game in the SEOAL this week. As Ironman92 previously said, what more could the want this week? A win can clinch at least a share the SEOAL title (outright with a GAHS loss if i'm not mistaken), a win would bring them one step closer to the first home play off game ever to be played at Alumni Stadium in which the Jackson Ironmen were involved in. Not to mention, Friday night will be Senior Night for the Ironmen. Its hard to imagine that this game could be any bigger. It's even harder to think that these kids wont be ready to play. The Offensive Line for the Ironmen have dominated week-in and week-out. Klay Arthur has run the ball as good as I've seen a Jackson back since Cody Huff. Ervin has played well, in the shadow of Arthur. Winchester has really stepped up to fill the uncertain role of QB this year. Not to mention the other talent Jackson still brings to the table defensively. I'm uncertain of Chillicothe's tendencies both offensively and defensively. I believe in the past their coach has been known to be more run heavy. I expect the Ironmen to come into the game Friday Night fully focused, ready to play. I know how bad these kids want to get their hands on that title. If they control their emotions, focus all week long, overcome all adverse situations, I expect quite a game out of the Ironmen Friday night. If not, im sure the Cavaliers would love to keep their SEOAL Title hopes alive.

Go Ironmen.

This is going to be one exciting game. Expect a big crowd at Alumni Stadium for this one. Hoping for good weather and an injury free game. Congratulations seniors. I have enjoyed watching you this year. GO RED !!!!!!!

I definitely don't see motivation being a problem for the Ironmen. Senior night, SEOAL title on the line, playoffs on the line...not too hard to get fired up for that. This entire team, led by the seniors, has been VERY focused since the setback in Week 1. They had a slow start against Marietta, but they also played a ridiculously physical game against a very good Ironton team the week before, and it's hard to recover from that, especially when it went three OTs.

Ron Hinton is a great football coach and you can tell that he is getting steady improvement from his team. They lost a tough game against Warren last week, but the Cavs are fully capable of beating anyone in the SEOAL on any given night. The evidence for that is their Week 6 win at Gallia Academy. I know the Blue Devils turned the ball over and had several penalties, but if you go into Memorial Field and win, you're a talented football team. Jackson has to bring their "A" game to win this week, and I think they will do just that.

Just keeps getting tougher and tougher. Ironmen must play a heck of a defensive game and avoid any turnovers on offense. I believe we are the better team but having said that we've seen week in and week out that anyone in the seoal can win on any given night. EYE ON THE PRIZE!!!!!!!!!!

You know....this forum looks eerily similar to the Gallia Chillicothe forum a few weeks back. Hmmmm Now how did that turn out ??? IF Chillicothes defense can keep Jacksons running game in check AND our Cavaliers throw the ball a little bit ( That KILLED us against Warren ) mixing it in with the running game the Cavs COULD win ( Hey, Wellston must have done this ). Do those things, don't have penalties, and have a solid special teams night and things could work out well for the Cavaliers. IF the CAVS don't stop their running game OR if the CAVS cannot loosen the defense with some sort of passing game it could turn into a terrible night. I doubt if we can count on Jackson having 6 turnovers and 100+ yards in penalties to help us as Gallia did. But it would be right neighborly if y'all did. : 0)
