Re: SOC 1st team, 2nd team, Honorable Mention
I think its towards the end of this week or the beginning of next week
Re: SOC 1st team, 2nd team, Honorable Mention
The SOC rewards the order in which you finish by giving you more all-stars.
South Webster and Waverly will get 11 all stars-----8 first team and 3 second team.
I am not sure about the break down for 2nd---5th places. I don't think there is an honorable mention----but don't know 100%

Re: SOC 1st team, 2nd team, Honorable Mention
Wonder who came up with the idea to give 11 all league selections to the 1st place team?
Re: SOC 1st team, 2nd team, Honorable Mention
The winner gets the same amount of all-stars as starters. I believe it is that way in all sports. 98% sure.
For instance, if you win Volleyball then you get 6 all-stars and second place gets less
Basketball the winner gets 5 (3 first team and 2 second) and second place gets 4 (2 and 2)and third gets 3 and so on.........
Football also gets 11.
I am not sure about baseball but I would assume they would get 9.
I believe that every team at least gets 1 first team and 1 second team selection.

Should be some time this week. The SOC All Star game is Sunday in New Boston.
Re: SOC 1st team, 2nd team, Honorable Mention
It will be announced at the Senior game on Sunday (2 pm) and will be released to the newspapers on Monday. I haven't seen them yet.
Re: SOC 1st team, 2nd team, Honorable Mention
If South Webster and Burg both win Saturday the SOC all star game will really be depleted. That's a good situation for our league.

SOC I wins the all star seniors game 10 - 3. Game was tied 3 - 3 at half with a rare wind assisted kick off goal sailing into the net at the 16 second mark. SOC I coach of the year went to Claxon of SW and player of the year went to Conner Scott. For SOC II player of the year was Dillian Lewis, but I missed the Coach award.

The rare wind assisted kickoff might have been the highlight of the game. I would compare it to shooting a basketball from three quarters court and swishing it. It was perfectly kicked to fall between the goalie and the net, this coming from about 50 yards out.. I'm sure the player would have to take the rest of the afternoon of consistent kicks to duplicate.

Does anyone have the box score for this game. I was hoping the Portsmouth Time would have covered it, but I guess it isn't football, so it doesn't count. I imagine the Scioto Voice will mention it thursday. For most of the kids, it was their last game, would have been nice for the PDT to have mentioned the game. A few of the kids will be playing this Sunday at Rio Grande in the All District game.

The small division put up 10 on the big boys? That's impressive.
Re: SOC 1st team, 2nd team, Honorable Mention
SOC II was without the Wheelersburg players and also had 9 girls on their roster (Minford's girls team). SOC I didn't have any girls.

Re: SOC 1st team, 2nd team, Honorable Mention
Ironically, that has been a complaint of the SOC I teams for years. They always have to put several girls on the field and play against the (mostly) all boys SOC II squads.socman wrote:SOC II was without the Wheelersburg players and also had 9 girls on their roster (Minford's girls team). I think the missing goal was Patterson. I am pretty sure he had two, Scott had two and Valentine had 3 (and 2 assists). Then three other players had one each.
Re: SOC 1st team, 2nd team, Honorable Mention
I do believe the missing goal was by one of the Wright brothers, and John Valentine had 2. I could be wrong though. And although there was 9 girls on the roster, I only saw 3, maybe 4 girls playing.
