#3 Chillicothe v. #2 Warren

Post by pele »

Warren won 3-1 @ Warren.
They tied 1-1 @ Chillicothe.

What's it gonna be this round?

Come on guys, what are your predictions?

If Warren plays like themselves, they win. However, if they play the way they did against Gallia, their season is over. Any thoughts?

Warren needs to come out strong and finish today. Hate that soccer and volleyball are at the same time at WHS today.

I haven't seen Chillicothe since Athens played them at the beginning of the season, but I will say I think Warren is playing the best soccer out of anyone I've seen here at the time it matters most. If Warren plays like they did against Marietta and Athens, they'll be hard to beat.

Chillicothe wins 1-0.

Warren played horrific, but still should have won. Chillicothe was able to convert a goal from the sideline from what looked to be an attempted cross that went over the keeper to the back post. For Warren, Nick Koch missed a 1v1 with the keeper, Caleb Jones had a header stopped by a non-keeper save on the goal line, and Benedict Schroder whiffed at the ball off of a cross with an open goal. Very unlucky, but that's what they get for the way they played today.

Pele it's a shame you feel the need to rip on your teammates like that. You seem to forget that it was Nick who got you guy's in the semi s in the first place! Sorry, it was 3 with a cross to 7. Team play! Today, what I saw was very poor play. There were many opportunities missed. Your idea of a one on one explains why you feel the need to hold on to the ball with "4" players on you and your teammates waiting for a pass that never happens because you lose the ball. In the future if your going to cut on your teammates try not to use their names.

No drama on the Chilli side...

Bottom line, Chillicothe started the season 0-4-1 and gave up 14 goals in those first 5 games.

Chillicothe is now 9-1-3 in their last 13 games and gave up 12 goals in those 13 games. (Marietta is the only team to score more than 1 goal against Chillicothe during this stretch when they got a 4-2 victory at DeVola)

Chillicothe was allowing almost 3 goals a game during those first 5 games. That has dropped to just below one goal a game now. Defense has been the difference.

No matter how horrific Warren played they still have managed to score only one goal in these last two games vs. Chillicothe. Chilli's defense has been stingy of late.

Good for Chillicothe. When I saw them at the beginning of the season against Athens, the defense was certainly struggling. The team didn't really seem to mesh, but I suppose that happens when you graduate some very rare talent. It takes awhile to adjust and it appears Chillicothe has done that. It will be interesting to see the re-match of Fairfield Union vs. Chillicothe. Chillicothe got beat 4-0 at the beginning of the season, but as we have seen, Chillicothe is playing much better. For Warren, well... it looks like they were going to have a good postseason but sputtered at the very end with only scoring one goal against Gallia and nothing against Chillicothe.

Soccerkrazed, I don't think you took the time to become fully knowledgable about the topic at hand before speaking so matter of factly about me. I assure you I am not a frustrated teenage boy venting via the internet. Making judgment by a previous post by 02Warrior in response to a posting I made about Wesley Riley and Caleb Jones, I came to the conclusion that uou though I was Caleb Jones, and if not Caleb Jones specifically, certainly a high school aged boy. Oh I apologize! You thought I was #10.... if that's what you'd prefer. After returning home from dinner last evening, my son brought to my attention a "status" that was made by Caleb Jones on facebook. He and his family had apparently seen the post you made and had come to the same conclusion that I now have reached. Since then I have been thinking about how the appropriate way to respond to this would be and here's the answer I came to. Thankfully he was able to see the humor behind your misconception. I however, do not find it humorous even the slightest bit. You were disgruntled and made a juvenile assumption. We all know what happens when people assume. Well, I'm afraid you've only made one out of yourself this time. If you think a player is lousy, that's your opinion and you're entitled to it. Well guess what.. I'm also entitled to an opinion. And it's my opinion that it is not necessary to ridicule an adolescent undeservingly. To my knowledge, that boy has done nothing to you except to not play soccer the way that you would like for him to. If you were his coach this would obviously be another story. Oh yes, if I'm not mistaken (and I'm not), that boy is planning on continuing his playing career at the collegiate level. I remember hearing where on senior night but I apologize.... the name of the school is eluding me at this time. Back to my point! The point to be noted here isthat apparently I'm not the only man in this world that thinks this kid can play.

Ok, I was not bashing any of the three players mentioned in my prior post. I relayed to all the viwers of this site the three most dangerous scoring chances that were not capitalized on to support why I believed Warren still should have won the game, despite their poor play. FINALLY, I recall the goal against Gallia slightly different than yourself. I remember watching Ethan Ida making a good tackle and playing the ball to Jones, Jones advancing upfield and passing behind the Gallia defense to Frame who was making a run through, Frame then pushing past one last defender and passing the ball across the goalmouth to the oncoming player, Koch, who deposited the ball calmly into the back of the net. I disagree with the way it was implied that Koch "saved the game." I f it wasn't for the three players before Koch, there would not have been a goal to speak of. Also, what about Warren's defense? They played great all season long! How would Warren have slipped by Logan and Marietta with 1-0 scores if it weren't for their defense?! Now I'm finished. My blood pressure is high enough as is.
