My theory is that, no matter how crappy your program is, you should always schedule to play really tough opponents even if you go 0-10 for years. NEVER schedule down. I have always liked and respected the fact that Nelsonville plays tough opponents.

Since I am in a football mood after watch a playoff game on live tv and listening to another at the same time on the radio I am going to do a schedule for another team I try to follow

NELSONVILLE YORK

WEEK ONE-ATHENS-AWAY(Start the season off with a rival game)
WEEK TWO-Portsmouth-Away
WEEK THREE-Versailles-Home
WEEK FOUR-Mechanicsburg-Home
WEEK FIVE-Trimble-Away(Seems like this one is one the fans get into)
WEEK SIX-Poca, W.VA-Home(I am driving down for this one)
WEEK SEVEN-Bellaire-Away(A Saturday afternoon game in Bellaire is fun)
WEEK EIGHT-Hurricane,W.VA-Home
WEEK NINE-Vinton County-Away(I am driving down for this one)
WEEK TEN-Alexander-Home(End the season with a rival game)

I know this has a lot of new GOOD SCHOOLS (that I think you guys could compete with)and think of how well this would prepare you guys for the playoffs

May I tweak the topic just a little and create a LEAGUE?
Obviously league play dominates any school's schedule.
This League of 8 allows for 3 non-league football games per season.
And you have a nice manageable circle geographically for travel -
Rt 23 on the west; Rt 52 on the south; Rt 7 on the east; and Rt 35 on the north.
And it provides a competitive mix of school sizes, history, and records in all sports.

Portsmouth West
Portsmouth
Wheelersburg
Ironton
Gallipolis
Jackson
Chillicothe
Waverly - or maybe Valley

NY would go 8-2 with this schedule this year.
And host a game in week 11.

Sheridan would beat NY by 40+.
New Lex(though down) would beat NY
NC would beat NY
Logan would beat NY
Jackson would beat NY
Gallia would beat NY

They would be lucky to win 4-5 games with this schedule.
I couldnt agree more, N.Y. has a nice little program and plays in the weekest league for the size of schools that are in it in the state. With this schedule they would be 2-8 or maybe 3-7 at best.

Here's my schedule for Jackson...

Week 1 - Sheridan
Week 2 - Waverly
Week 3 - Canal Winchester
Week 4 - Logan
Week 5 - Wheelersburg
Week 6 - Chillicothe
Week 7 - Ironton
Week 8 - Washington Court House
Week 9 - Portsmouth
Week 10 - Gallia Academy

Pretty loaded schedule, but I think it would definitely be good for the program to play this level of competition every week. You might take some lumps some years, but you'd be better for it over time.
