I like the Tank. Good place to watch a game, especially from the home side.

I have great memories as a young troublemaker at the Tank when the Valley Indians would go there to play Ironton St. Joe. Several friends of mine and I took stink bombs we had bought at the swap days at the Scioto County Fairgrounds. We went to the home side and sat in the middls of the bleachers and busted them open and ran. Everyone in the stands scattered except for one little old nun sitting there holding her nose. Funny stuff.

THANKS BURGGRAD77, i think you done the right thing, these two programs have alot of respect for each other. and are great rivals. we don't have the newest stadium facilities around, but dang proud of what we got. playoff games means money to schools as well to do much needed improvements. ironton has a shiny new school. has revamped alot around the stadium, has a new consession facility for the visitors. next surely will be a big restroom facility, and improvements like that. but as the burg is your home, the tank is ours.

You're welcome and that really came wrong after I went back and reread it. I too love going to Tank to play, but I really wish you guys would put in a bigger visitors side. It's only about 10 rows deep and it just doesn't hold a lot of fans. I remember going to a couple of playoff games at the Tank with one being Ironton vs Rock Hill and they were standing 5 or 6 deep along the sidelines and the endzones. We were lucky that we got there early enough to get a spot on the home side, though we did have to stand at the back of the stands.

At least at the Burg we have the hill which will hold a large number of people plus the new visitors side which is pretty big compared to most visitors sides in our area. The Burg needs new home bleachers and I hear they are in the works and will be from the 20 to the 20 which will be a pretty good size set of bleachers.

Great game atmoshpere in Minford Saturday night and next Saturday at Jackson Alumni Stadium with Minford and Oak Hill should be just as grand.
That was the only 3rd meeting in school history that Minford/Nelsonville York with Minford 3-1 edge, but would love to see more future meetings...
Also note that was Minford's 500th game since opening football at the school since 1959...

Well, Alex and Trimble gave up 91 combined points last night, ouch !!!!! I hope N-Y can keep the TVC treading water but I don't see it happening. I'll be there watching !!!!!

So how did G.M. do in their playoff?

About as good as N-Y against Minford, they didn't show up (My Wahama White Falcons are in the WV state semi's this weekend though and if history repeats itself after all the drubbings we used to give Wirt County back in the day in all male sports, we'll be playing in the state final next week probably against Wheeling Central Catholic on their home field but it's been a good year even if we lose the final game). You guys just concentrate on winning another TVC title next year and getting to the playoffs. I'll be there watching just as I was at Minford, Bishop Ready and Newark Catholic this year.

Yep, when you're 17 & 18 you're playing and don't have a care in the world except for what's in front of you on that field on a friday night and trying to figure out what you'll be doing after the game and what you can get into on saturday night. When you're 53 you just try to make it to the game to watch and then hope you can see well enough to drive home after the game in the dark so you can go to bed because you're tired after 2 hours of standing. (I still stand around the fences to watch games, haven't got so old yet that I need to sit)
