Re: Paladin's Pigskin Picks --Wk 12
Come on man we're talking football on here, not standards of living. Do I think northern Ohio football is better than here, yes. I thought we were talking quality of football on here. Now if you're talking day to day living in communities, yeah I'd much rather live in lil ol SE Ohio than be looking down the barrel of a gun every day in Youngstown or Cleveland.....Bleeding Red wrote:I could care less what a washed up person who got ran out of town thinks of me and my community. Re: Paladin's Pigskin Picks --Wk 12
Maybe if we cherry picked Ironton,Burg,Rock Hill,CG,Minford,Lucasville, and Portsmouth etc and put together a Div IV/V school we would be on a level playing surface as the Jon Alders,Kett Alters, Ursulins, Mooney's, etc. If your gonna skim the cream from the top then you should have to play D1 in my opinion. I remember looking at the Alder sideline and they had a ton of players. My goodness the Marysville Monarchs lost to Alder by 9 and lost to Westerville South by 7 and beat some good teams along the way. Thats how good Alder is and they prolly won't win Region 16.

They're all right. As much as the forces that be in Columbus don't want us down here to win, we need to do something to prove to them that we have what it takes. Unless that happens, we're just adding fuel to their fire.

Re: Paladin's Pigskin Picks --Wk 12
I have a serious question. This is in no way meant to disrespect anyone at all. I would like a serious reply.
What credentials does Paladin have?? I have absolutely no clue who he is or what he does (or did) for school(s)??
All I know is at 52-17 (.753) percentage, he would not even have made the playoffs in our pickem contest. Our champion One Oak had a .812 winning percentage and the playoff cutoff was .764, in fact, that would rank 42nd in our list of 90 finishers. I haven't read his other threads, so maybe he just picks all the tough games, I honestly do not know!
So can we all start our own picks thread each week? Heck, One Oak, Karma, and Yabbadabba should have a TV show on ONN where the three of them make their picks each week.

you would have to add puldi... well mybe not just put some name all he does is pick Logan and any other team thats not SEO......
Re: Paladin's Pigskin Picks --Wk 12
Serious answer -- former coach ( assist. and & Head). Former Logan player ( All Star). Used to pick in the SEOP contest and finished in the finals, several times, but never won it all. Confined myself to just the SEOAL schools for the past couple of years as thats my interest. This here is for fun and chat, but as you can tell, some folks think its about them when in fact, its not. I try to pick games from all around the State in the playoffs, not just SEO or southern Ohio and since I've been in NEO for 35 yrs., its hilarious to see I still know as much about SEO as the natives do who live there, many of whom have no clue about programs, local or state-wide. But we sure get alot of homers here, lol

I personally enjoy reading the picks. Especially when Ironton was a member, even though we aren't now, I still tune in sometimes.Paladin_II wrote:Serious answer -- former coach ( assist. and & Head). Former this, former that, used to do this, used to do that.
How about this: CURRENTLY you disrespect people in SE Ohio. You CURRENTLY wouldnt have made the post season in the current contest. You CURRENTLY coach nothing or have that under your hat.
I know alot of high school coaches, even coached myself (not football), and I am yet to see a former high school coach put down schools and kids the way you do.
You may have moved from the "armpit" as you would call it, but I happen to think you moved to the "scrotum".
Re: Paladin's Pigskin Picks --Wk 12
Let me expand -- I coached before there were playoffs. Won titles, had teams ranked in Ohio's Top Ten Polls ( AP - UPI) . Coached in the state Track Meet. Also served as an assistant coach in Basketball where we went to the State Tournament & played on the old St. John's floor at OSU.
(yawn)
Pardon me. Left teaching & coaching to make some serious money ( and did). Turned into a serious investor too........ ( yawn)......... made a nice pile of money............. (yawn)............ retired early where I enjoyed my interests and pursued the travels I wanted ...........(yawn)........... sometimes play with morons on a messaageboard on a computer for sport, lol............(yawn)............ and just for kicks, show I still know about the state & its h.s. football teams , where, believe it or not, I still have some friends ACTIVELY coaching ( now in their 70's) as Head Coaches. (Yawn).............I now live in a very nice suburb of Warren in the Youngstown area, in a new home I built several years ago,........ where I've been for almost 35 years following my early life of growing up in Logan, where I also had relatives in Nelsonville & Lancaster..............(yawn)........ but , I digress........... its obvious that I grate on some "select" folks.........(yawn)......................
good !! lol

Thanks for the reply! Now, knowing your credentials adds a little weight to your picks. I hope you will join us again next year in the contest. I agree, just fun and chat. While I agree with you that northern football is superior right now, I am still going to follow every SE Ohio team and pull for the upset. I love a good cinderella team upset!
Just remember, some of the kids do read this stuff, including your old school.

WOW! You are probably in that WHO's WHO book too! The one that asks me to send them $25 to be a part of........ because its all about the dollar...OOOPPPPPSSSS! Sorry! I didnt mean to ruin that accomplishment for you!
Did you play college ball? How many businesses did you own at 33 yrs of age? I bet you were a gazillionaire before you came out of being a zygote.
You probably even lowered the crime rate in Youngstown............... all by yourself (one of the highest in the country btw).......
In all of my travels, business deals, athletic accomplishments......I NEVER met a person that was good at anything that had to make it be known to everyone around him/her. Keep that in mind. And I never see them call their old stomping grounds "the armpit".
How about that Paladin.......better tuck into bed.....all that yawning at 9pm is showing your age........

My last post was a serious reply to your first answer. When I posted it, I then saw your second posted reply with all the yawns. You went from a respectful and serious reply to my question to a state championship caliber braggart.
Re: Paladin's Pigskin Picks --Wk 12
RElax , sprinter. That wasn't aimed at you. The clown above you got put down. I'm known by several here of the Logan crew. There are even some older ones here from other towns who know who I am. Some folks wish me harm, but the reality is, I've had a charmed life. Just don't get in the way when I have to set the record straight with all the liars here who don't know me. You see, you can't help but laugh at some of the clowns here who think they can slander me. The truth, if you knew everything, would be excessively arrogant if you knew it all about me. And as long as some wish to denigrate me, I'll just have to share a little to set the real record straight. lol

Re: Paladin's Pigskin Picks --Wk 12
I have never had a problem with Paladin's picks or personal views, they are his and he has every right to them just as everyone else here does also. He is no worse than the handfull (not all) of Ironton posters that go out of their way to put down the other local teams, coaches, schedules, leagues, etc. I get tired of listening about Ironton this and Ironton that...and then listening to them whine about the Catholic teams that get to recruit. PLEASE. Ironton has never won a championship with all homegrown talent...their team is loaded with kids from other districts. The Ironton MS team keeps 6-8 kids back and gets transfers trying to build up their lower level just so they can thump their chest to the rest of southern Ohio for a few more seasons. Paladin is correct, southern Ohio football is nothing like the 90's, 80's, or 70's....it is only getting worse right now. Look at all the "BIG" programs...Portsmouth, Gallia, Chillicothe, Ironton, Jackson....all these current teams could not stack up to the best 5-6 teams from the past 3 decades for these schools. JMHO.

Punk.......I got it.......... no need for me to convince you. I'm quite happy about too...........lol
BTW, talk about a sheethole.......... everything along the river down there is a sheethole, stinks and looks like a third world country. You got a sewer system besides the river yet?
Now, run along poor little boy as I won't be wasting time responding to your BS e-mails anymore.

And to think some people here in Southern Ohio actually listen to the old fart and take no offense to his constant downgrading of us, our kids and where we live!

Good Post!Paladin is an alright guy....Why isn't he entitled to his opinion? Every post he reads from down here is, the NW cheat, they recruit, they cherry pick their team, etc...but yet not one shred of evidence surrporting the claim....SPECIFICS??? Aren't many teams in SEO doing the same thing? The talent pool from SEO doesn't come close to the talent pool in the other regions of the state....Those regions will send several D1 players from a team to play bigtime colllege ball....We are lucky in SEO if we send one D1 player to the bigs from the entire region, let alone several from one team...Then you get guys start calling out facts making themselves look stupid and before you know it we have the mafia from the north lookng to beat A$$ over the whiskey runners in the South...A good ole Hatfield and McCoy type blood bath! When it invariably settles, the FACTS haven't changed...THe NE is better than the SE...Cant deny it...It is what it is? Enjoy the coffee, candy and popcorm for the outcome of the game has been predetermined....Just learn the waltz while you are here.....Act like you have been here before! IN other word, show more class in defeat than in victory!
Bleeding Red, you're ate up with it.
Re: Paladin's Pigskin Picks --Wk 12
Paladin is giving his opinion and I agree with most of it ...
If I think he may be way off base on something, I'll answer him
and state my case as to why... Thats how it works...
Sometimes the truth hurts ... And some people can't handle it.....
