Coaching Changes
Re: Coaching Changes
You did not hit a nerve, but I thought it was crazy to say a team was not trying to be competitive if they have a coed team. Actually one of the girls will be playing at SSU next year, so she did pretty well. I believe any boys soccer team must allow girls to be on the team if they wish unless a girls team is offered at the school.

Re: Coaching Changes
unless a girls team is offered they need a team to be on and coed is the only option. i agree a high school girl is not competitive against a high school boy. coed is the only option in southern ohio with the exception of minford. they have done a good job of making the program work. most girls leave the game in jr high because there is no high school future. they move to volleyball etc.
Re: Coaching Changes
Scott Davis officially resigned as soccer coach from West. Sad to see him go; he's a really good man and he was enthusiastic about building a good team. He might not have a soccer background, but he gave his heart and soul to that program. Hopefully the assistant from last year will take the reigns now.
Re: Coaching Changes
Scott did a good job coaching. I think it was the assistant coaches that would have driven me nuts. I can only imagine having to put up with them on a regular basis. Good luck in a replacement. They have good numbers and I hope the support continues.

Re: Coaching Changes
It is so sad to see Scott go. West was so much better with him than without him. You would be hard pressed to find a coach that cares for their kids more than Scott. I have to reply to the comment from RxBurgFan, SOME of the assistants were tough to deal with but not all. We will see in what direction the board will go in. Hopefully it all works out for West.
Re: Coaching Changes
also have heard that the head coach for minford will be dave gampp. wish him and the falcons best of luck. big shoes to fill or should i say pumps.
Re: Coaching Changes
LOL Good one RX... I heard the other day that coach Boll is torn between pumps or split toe flip flops for his choice of foot wear this season. I guess coach Havens being one of the few to retire with a winning record against him has prompted the change in shoe choice. lol

Re: Coaching Changes
West has a new head coach finally. A substitute teacher from Springfield. I wish her the best. she will have to work hard this summer to get them up to speed. Good luck.

Who is going to take the Valley program? I know that Bill Hale's son will be on the team next year. Any chance he will get back into coaching?

Re: Coaching Changes
Yea, I've also heard this... and I would be extremely surprised if Bill Hale wasn't considered for this position (if he wants it). You're talking about a guy who really knows the game and has tons of coaching experience at the college level (shawnee) and high school level. I guess he has started some of the soccer programs or something like that in this area? Some folks out at minford were telling me that the other day.vballsoccer178 wrote:Who is going to take the Valley program? I know that Bill Hale's son will be on the team next year. Re: Coaching Changes
Yes, Bill Hale was the coach at Minford in the mid 80's when soccer was just starting in the area. I believe he was there in 83 and 84.
