With Ironton an independent again, some schedule manipulation may make for a good week 4 match-up.

So it looks like Week 4 is the only remaining spot to filled for 2011.....

@ Trimble
@ Newark Catholic
BERNE UNION
????
LOGAN
WELLSTON*
@ Meigs*
VINTON COUNTY*
@ Alexander*
@ Athens*

Since NY already has 5 away games, I'm assuming NY will want the Week 4 game to be a home game.

ACC or ironton? Either is a nightmare. I'm all for scheduling up but dang you need a break one week.

I talked to dean today at the cookoff. From what he told me NY has asked every school our size EVERYBODY SAID NO...Even the league that piketon is in...1 school our size said yes Monroe Centeral...But the same weeks being free is the issue. So looks likes NY has to play bigger and better teams...

Of course my alma mater would say yes, Chief Jay and his staff at Monroe Central will play anybody that will help make them a better team. Too bad that the dates don't align, I'd love to see MC and NY play, it would be a great game, and a great gate for both teams.

That week 4 game will be tough to fill locally. All of the MSL divisions and the SVC are in league play.
As an alum, would love to see AC hook up with NY, but would have to be in the first 3 weeks.

Do any SEOAL schools have a Week 4 opening? Or maybe a Point Pleasant or one of the river schools.

Not a lot of week 4 oppenings in the state period, and I don't see Coach Boston scheduling a WVA team. Who knows maybe a team can shuffle things around to fit us in.

NY has only played one game against a WV school in school history - 1993 - in Week 10, NY traveled to Magnolia, WV.

I would like to see NY play some other former league rivals - specifically Jackson, Gallia Academy, or Warren.

Gallia Academy is the only former SEOAL rival that NY has not played since leaving the SEOAL. That is 45 years of an annual rivalry that soon no one will be around to remember.

NY and Jackson played 3 times in the early/mid 90's, on top of the old 45 years of SEOAL league rivalry.

NY vs. Warren was a pretty decent rivalry, but neither have played since Warren left the TVC. They played every year from 1967-1985.

Here is a random piece of NY trivia......

2010 was the first year in the history of NY football that the Buckeyes did not play a team from Washington County.

NY played Belpre from 1970-2009.

NY played Warren from 1967-1985.

NY played Fort Frye from 1968-1971.

I would love to see Gallia Acadamy on the schedule! It's not that far away and it would be a great series year in and year out.

Nelsonville won't play Gallia Academy. Good source says A.D. has tried. NY won't/can't

They are ducking GA and scheduled Logan. lol GA had their best season at 7-3 this year that they have had in years and I know they havent contacted NY. Have them call again if they have the week NY has open. NY has had Ironton, st clairsville, Newark Catholic, Bishop Ready, and now Logan but they are ducking GA.... Now thats funny, I dont care who you are..... I know that if anyone local would have played them they would have made a 3 hour trip to play SC...
