Chesapeake 2010, lost to eventual state champ Lima Central Catholic 63-51

Ironton and Portsmouth before they were OVC members

How can you consider them? When they won and made there runs they were not in the OVC.

I was kinda wonderin the same thing. cause they both have. ironton lost a state final game to oj may's squad they should have won.

If you don't include Ironton and Portsmouth the only ones I can think of are

Proctorville Fairland (1961, 2017)
Chesapeake (2010)

Also of note,
Proctorville made it in 1926, 1924
Kitts Hill 1940

No OVC then, just thought it was a fun stat.

You include them if you view it like The Big Ten views Nebraska and Maryland. They show some of their great seasons on Big Ten Elite.

The question reads as if you include them. They are members of the OVC. I don't think that lessens or cheapens what Fairland has done this year. Now I believe a few of you think it might or the question might not have been asked. Are we the only ones? Is truly what he was asking. I believe when you accept Portsmouth and Ironton you accepted all of their tradition.

1961 not 67...team was nicknamed the untouchables...had double digit lead close to end of 3qr in state final...26 team was Rome Township was not fairland as fairland was consolidation of Rome Township and proctorville... as if I'm not mistaken symmes valley high school actually possesses the waterloo wonders state trophies from the early 30's

The Waterloo Wonders are the only team to win it from Lawrence County.Won back to back titles in 1934 and 1935.

When a team goes into a league their records and tourney comes with them. That's how I see the college teams or leagues do!! When penn st went into big ten they count their national championships to big ten. Also when Maryland came and others. But however it's a great question and fairland made a heck of a run

The 1961 Fairland team ran into a very good Defiance Ayersville team in the Semifinal that year. Defiance Ayersville was ranked #1 at the end of 1961 and 1962 and went 20-0 both regular seasons. Defiance Ayersville beat Fairland 51-49 and then Liberty Local 40-38 to win the Championship. They finished 30-0 that season.

Their only loss in 1961-62 came in the 62 State Semis to New Lebanon 60-52. New Lebanon went on to defeat Berlin Hiland 74-62 in the Finals.

That was a nice little time for local teams as New Boston made it to the Semis in 1960 and Portsmouth won the Big School Division in 1961.
