Re: Final: Portsmouth 69 Gallia Academy 31
Outstanding game by the Trojans, who had a 45 point lead even after emptying the bench early in the 4th quarter.........another defensive gem by PHS, who harrassed the Blue Devils all night.....what a difference from the first time vs. Gallia Academy, won by PHS 49-44.........Portsmouth has consistently played championship caliber defense this year, and this is what will carry them in the tournament.
Wayne Evans scored 23 points, and Dion McKinley tallied 16.........great to see Andrew Bendolph knock down two 3's.......we will need that in the tourney!!
Wayne Evans deserves to be on one of the top 3 all-state teams in D3.......this kid has been consistently good all year at both ends of the floor and has had quite a few games above 20 pts., including games of 28, 35, and 39. Before AB came on board the 11th game of the year, Wayne had to handle the PG duties as well.
A promising note about Jaylen Carter, 6-1 sophomore for the Trojans.........he scored 18 points in the JV game, then came in and nailed a 3 pointer in the varsity contest.........as much as he has improved this season, Jalen could earn his way into the starting lineup next season with some good work this summer.
As for now, the Trojans have played outstanding basketball the second half of the season with 9 straight wins, the last 8 by 10 or more points......but there's still room for improvement as the tournament draws near..........GO TROJANS!!
Great to talk to Jottings at the game, and sorry that gahs4ever couldn't make it.

Man, what a tourney this should be this year,,If we get out of sectional. Burg, Ironton, Peake, PHS, Piketon and any other team that is right there..No overlooking anyone just do not know the teams that well...being in AZ I depend on you guys to keep the rest of the world updated...the Convo should be rocking this year...
