Thanks md2020! yes Fanatic, there have been a few parents involved. I was no great ballplayer, but for lack of a coach, I stepped in with another parent and helped my daughter's teams in 5th and 6th grade.

Unfortunately, a lot of parents were only worried about their child and if they were serious enough about basketball, the easier fix was to move their kid elsewhere.

What biddy ball program there was here, was being run by a well intentioned individual, but a person who really did not know how to organize the deal. To compound matters, the last few high school coaches also did not bother to look at "what they had coming". Ultimately, Iwould think a high school coach would look over the entire program and he would make sure he had 50 or 60 kids trying their hand at basketball in 4th and 5th grades. But here in Chilli, we literally could not find 10 for each grade.

When you see Chillicothe's scores, please know it is not a reflection of the work or the heart these ladies have. It is a reflection of a program who did not have it together at the lower levels over the last 6 or 8 years.

I've let it be known, that if organized correctly, I will gladly return to coach a team and even help administrate things.

There are at least 60 girls playing basketball in chillicothe in grades k-6. Not too bad for the first year of re-establishing the program. The varsity coach has been very involved in the new youth program. Sprinter- I am in need of good coaches. Chillicothe will not have another year like this for a long time to come.

yes as sad as it is to see a game like that, that was the score
Shame on Marietta for six weeks for that one...No need for that...Play the jv's a couple quarters if you have too...Really,is this any different that what Waterford did last year and got all the NEGATIVE National press for?

Did what? Got the negative pub or played the jv's? All I know is you dont win a game 73-7 without trying to run the score up.

I was there and they did play the younger kids. They did not try to run up the score, could have easliy scored over 100 if they wish. The won the first game 62-19 so a increase of 11 points for shooting at home is understandable. Chilly could not make shots.

By the way no one felt sorry for Marietta football when you were scoring 60 + points on them and giving up 0 to 7 pts. Don't say they were just running the ball, if they can't stop the run then by your standards you would start taking knees in 3rd qtr. can't have it both ways.

I'm not a Chilly fan so we (my school) didn't run the score up on Marietta. Two wrongs dont make a right either. They are both wrong in that case.

Never said you were, just that you were not on here giving it to someone in football for running it up so don't jump on here now, especially if you were not there.

Soo you never read the football thread at all. There are always someone getting beat that bad in football.

My point is not with you personally but trying to defend basketball coaches. No one complains about football scores. If teams can't stop the offense then instead of not scoring like you want in basketball they should just take knees in 3rd qtr in football yet no one calls for that. Also they should just fall down and let the other team score so it doesn't look as bad. People can't have it both ways, football is way worse than basketball with wide margins and mis-matches.

I dont read the football board mainly because my alma mater wins maybe 1 to 2 games a year and get trashed by big scores as well...I know how you feel in that regard. The school will go unnamed.

Last night Chilli showed some life in their game with Portsmouth. Losing 54 to 43 but making a game of it. Portsmouth won at the free throw line with 16-31 and Chilli just having 4 of 8. Glad to see this type of comeback after their last game by Chilli. Good luck to both teams.

Sorry I hadn't been back on sooner, but I must defend Marietta. I sat at the scorers table when Marietta played in our gym a few weeks ago and they played everyone on the bench and I think everyone scored but one player. I heard their coach telling the girls to slow it down when they had the ball. Now at Marietta with the 73-7 final, I was sitting up pretty high, but it didn't appear to me that they were trying to make us look that bad. Chilli was shooting cold on top of their other troubles and a few of Mariettas girls almost couldnt miss if they were trying to.

Yes, last night, Chilli's girls played right with Portsmouth. Unfortunately, early in the 2nd half, the Lady Trojans went on about a 10 point run and the Lady Cavs just could not close the margin. Like I said in my first post on this deal, don't judge these ladies by their final scores, because they have worked hard and they have a lot of heart.

Coach Blue is righting the ship, and doing a damage assessment. Chilli will be back on track soon.

I wish Chilli girls nothing but the best. At Marietta they played hard just couldn't get anything positive to happen for them. It looked like the girls were playing hard and that says alot about the girls and coaches. Would be easy to pack it in this time of the year.
