Easy there 86 you are starting to sound like coach k. It is the first game you beat a team that won 1 game last year, Trimble had a nice win over Alexander and some of the Hocking teams haven't played yet. Now on 12-11 you will be able to see if Manchester is better than Eastern, but you will have to wait till the middle of February to see if anyone else is better on their schedule.

I am a little suprised by this one.

I would guess that the stability of Eastern's program over the years had more to do with this blow-out than the skill level of the players. Lopsided early-season games happen with young, inexperienced teams and coaches.

Look at the Belpre vs. Ft. Frye game...same deal. Belpre is decent, but got killed...

For a person that continues to put down kids...I hope you aren't a parent!!!

im not putting down the kids, just not blamimg the coach when he has very little talent to work with and using common sense when parents get on here and make outrageous statements that arent true.

The coach has had plenty of talent during his tenure at Meigs and has produced nothing with it

86 I don't mean a team with good guards and a good post, I mean one or the other. Chesepeake always has quick guards and good posts, and with that game being on the road I doubt if you guys win that one. If Eastern is not hitting their shots against Trimble, Federal Hocking, and Waterford, how do you expect your posts to handle Guthrie (6'7'') Saylor (7'0'') and Waterfords big guys? I would say that Eastern's press will work against most teams, but their post play is suspect IMO. Eastern will definetly be competitive for the league, but they are going to lose a few games just like the rest of the Hocking teams.

Just out of curiosity, How do you have a clue whether the kids are talented or not? Have you scouted them? Have you ever seen them play? If so how can you make that judgement...Fact is you can't, because they don't get the chance to show their talent. I'm not going to argue this point any further. I have been around these boys for well over 10 years in baseball and basketball.

Baseball has nothing to do with this. They may be talented, but it takes alot more than talent to excell in varsity sports

just because you coached them to a victory over langsville in the rutland "civic center" championship doesnt make them talented, but it certainly makes you a qualified coach!!

You are still yet to answer how you have any idea whether they have talent or not. For your information back when I had them in the Rutland Civic Center Tourney's..I didn't even have them as a unit. There were 4 Meigs Teams back then and they were all split up. And when they all did become a UNIT at the Jr. High level...They won Championships!!!

So just answer the question asked instead of continuing to run your mouth, cause I am betting you aren't even from up here in Meigs County..Oh and I think I even have a pretty good idea who you are, and that is a laughing matter in itself..HAHA

Chesapeake will be too much for the Eagles to handle, for sure. Peake's team could definitely be in the hunt for a state championship if they have had any progression since last year. Eastern's schedule will definitely be a battle this year. I dont see them matching their win total from last year by any means. I guess only time will tell how the "young guys" step up. They are outsized, but as my wife says, size isn't everything!!!!

seen them play plenty of times. i said they dont have great talent, like you suggested which was a crazy statement as was the statement about them being better than easterns starters. you are correct, i am not from meigs county but i have seen them play plenty of times. again, i would like to see meigs do well but i think they have several weak areas that will hurt them against good teams. For the last time, i am not putting down your kids, I am being REALISTIC.

gymrat88 wrote:Class of 86 don't you think it's a little early to be crowning them? When Eastern runs into a team that will have guards that can handle their pressure and posts that can dominate the paint, they will be in big trouble. According to your roster you guys don't have a player over 6'0''. Yes Howie can take average talent and make them great, but you guys lost Johnson, Pierce, Lynch, Winebrenner, and I few other guys I can't recall. 12-14 wins for the Eagles IMO.
To me both of these statements are putting down kids. For those who are sensitive about that sort of thing. BTW in which season did Howdy take average talent and make them great? I don't remember seeing that.
