I am a loyal FREDDIE fan but...

Post by silligiff »

I was bummed when I was to sick to make the Freddie-Coldwater game last Saturday and though it ended up being the Freddies last game, I am extremely proud of the Freddies and all they have accomplished the last few seasons. I pray all the best for the seniors and their future and for the up and coming players next season. Some yeawhoo commented on my GO FREDDIES post that the Freddies "will be terrible next year." So they can see into the future huh? I say... We will see.
I again want to wish all the best to Coldwater in the State Championship game Saturday.
I was given an article Monday from the Mansfieldnewsjournel.com web page title: "There's a Force behind Coldwater's Success" by:Chad Conant. Now I don't know anything about Coldwater except they were in the State Championship game last season but after reading the article I will admit, it brought tears of sorrow to my eyes for what this team, this school, this community and their coach's family has had to endure over the past year as their coach John Reed's battle with cancer ended in May. But also tears of joy for all this team has accomplished this season not just for themselves, but for their school, their community and their coach whom I get the impression from this article cared deeply for the kids he coached and the team cared and respected him. Though I did not know John Reed and am several months late, I would like to give my condolences to the family, and friends of John Reed and to his team.
As I prayed before the Freddie-Coldwater game and have prayed before every Freddie game, I pray before this game and all the games this weekend that GOD will protect all the players, that no one will get seriously hurt and everyone will be able to go out and play football and have fun. I pray for all those who will be making the trip to the games that GOD will keep them safe and get everyone back home safely, in Jesus name, Amen.
I am a loyal FREDDIE fan but this Saturday morning I will be cheering for the Coldwater Cavaliers and with tears of sorrow and tears of joy with the adversity that this team has had to overcome, (you don't hear of many high school teams going something like that), and with all you have accomplished this season I hope that the Force that is driving you will take you over the top to victory in the State Championship. But win or loose be proud of all you have accomplished for yourselves, your school, your community and especially in honor of your coach John Reed. I can't help but feel that he is proud of all of you. Take Care.
GO COLDWATER CAVALIERS!!!

Classy post. I also read of the coach's battle with cancer, and was saddened with his passing. I am rooting for Coldwater as well, I hope that they take down Ursuline U.

I would love to see that happen. I think it would help bring a bit of comfort and closure to the community. If it does happen it will be considered one of the greatest upsets in State finals history.

I wish nothing but great things for Coldwater. They have made it this far so anything can happen.
