WOW....What a game,Portsmouth 7th grade won, and 8th Grdae Trojans won in what was one of the best JR. high games I have seen in over time, sorry dont remember scores.
Chilli has some nice players including numberr 44 on 8th grade team, who went up for a dunk and was well high enough, just missed as he got fouled, I think he is Malik Londons brother?...that kid is going to be special.

Really enjoyed watching the games with biggdowgg........the junior high Trojans definitely have some talent........the Chillicothe 8th grade was really good, and Chris London is going to be a real player for the varsity Cavaliers by his sophomore year, maybe even sooner.
The 8th grade game was a lot of fun, exciting to watch, and the crowd was large and loud.......great to see the Trojans celebrating at center court after the game with a very good win.

trojandave/bigdowgg.....I am disappointed I did not get to see you guys at the game last week. I am sure you heard my loud mouth over there on the Chilly side. I to thought the games were very well played. We are re-teaching our young kids from a development aspect versus just the wins/losses. However, it is good to be in game situations like that to see how kids react. It will be fun to see how the teams have improved when the Trojans invade the Chillicothe Middle School gymnasium (Baby "HAT") in January. If I see you guys up there, I will buy you a hot dog.trojandave wrote:Really enjoyed watching the games with biggdowgg........the junior high Trojans definitely have some talent........the Chillicothe 8th grade was really good, and Chris London is going to be a real player for the varsity Cavaliers by his sophomore year, maybe even sooner.

By the way, I don't like to talk about kids at such a young age, but I saw Bendolph as a 7th grader and thought he was going to be a 4 year starter. That proved right. I am going to say the Allison kid is one of the best I have seen at the 7th grade level since I saw a young Anthony Hitchens racing up and down the court. The Allison kid understands the game. I also had to chide Al Oliver for teaching his grandson that sweet left hand stroke.
And yes the London kid is Malik's brother. The youngest one plays on the 7th grade and though our 7th grade did not play their best, he has a chance to be very good. I think the P-Town/Chilly matchups will be in good hands over the next 5 plus years.
GO CAVS!!!

We can catchup at the High School games as well. If this weather doesn't get better, we may be playing games in April. Hopefully we get weekend games in for the High School.
Yes, I came out of retirement and went back to the sidelines. Coach K. is doing something different. We have been working on this for a few years. Have to build from the bottom up. Great to see the "old heads" hanging out at the Jr High/Middle School games. I saw a few others I know. Have not seen some P-town people since we lost Craig back in April. Tough last 7 months, but the Trojan faithful are always grateful.
GO CAVS!!!

looks like you have those young cavs headed in the right direction, some great talent, and a lot of numbers at that level thats always good to see.
I think we dress 14 or 15 on the 8th grade team.

another great hunior high team in Irontons 8th grade, they beat us by 20 or something close to it our next game, they have 2 gaurds that can flat out play the game.

Sounds like Coach Lafon is building a long term program there. When you get guards that can flat out play in Middle School, you know the ball will be in good hands in a few years. The big buys don't sometimes don't grow anymore, so a 6'0" stud in the post, might be a bench player at 6'0" as a senior.biggdowgg wrote:another great hunior high team in Irontons 8th grade, they beat us by 20 or something close to it our next game, they have 2 gaurds that can flat out play the game.
The Cavs are keeping as many numbers as we can. Have 19 on the 7th grade roster, with 15 on the 8th grade. Great programs have solid Junior/Senior classes, so you need to develop 6-8 kids per class that are going to be long term. IMO Fresh/Soph should only play Varsity if they are an exceptional player.
