Cost us 2 SVC Championships? You are joking right? I've been watching HHS football since its inception. No way, no when, and no how did we have the talent to win 2 SVC Championships in the last 10 years period. To think otherwise means it's blatantly obvious you had a son or family member on one of those teams of Coach Marquez's. Steve and Sam are both great people, but most definitely not what Huntington needs as the head coach of our football program.

I say if Huntington wants to continue their ways hire the same good ole boys. There is a saying that goes something like this "If you continue to do the same things over and over, how can you expect a different result". Huntington look outside and bring in new blood throughout. You can not just replace the top and expect different results either. You have to teach from the bottom up and get the kids out.

I have to agree with r&g. Northwest has changed head coaches numerous times and kept many of the coaches as assistants. Nothing has changed.

Is Ted Lehew (Meigs 1972) coaching / teaching @ Huntington ? I grew up with him on Breezy Heights in Pomeroy some 40 odd years ago. I went in the military and lost track of a lot of people but heard he moved out that way. I think his brother John (Meigs 1974) is at Jackson.

I believe Lehew to be retired. I also think he coached Huntington to their only SVC championship.

Yes atleast one SVC championship With Clay beeler. Ferdie marqueze ran off one of the best players to ever play football in the SVC. What is this kid a 3 time All American? Who is going to get drafted into the NFL. I agree If Huntington couldnt win A championship with Clay.. they need to start completly over with the coaching staff.. If you look at it Adena has had power house running backs for years Buddy barns jimmy star Now reid Hutchinson and they are always on top of the SVC...Clay beeler was a 2 times better than any of there runningbacks

^^^^ That just proves Adena's Oline gets no credit. You stick Star and Hutchinson on that Huntington team for Beeler and I guarantee you they dont get the stats Beeler did. Put Beeler on those Adena teams and he runs rampant!

Adena has the personality of our line is going to smack your line in the mouth every play, stop us. Huntington has not had the horses up front to move people consistently over the years like Adena has.

Slow down there. Clay was a fine player, in HS and college. The NFL is a different animal. I just looked at a site that lists the top 450 prospects for this year's draft, and Clay isn't on it. I would be shocked if he is drafted.

Beeler did it all on the field , not on message boards! He has a agent, if he makes it, than he earned it at what ever level he plays, Nfl, cfl, ufl, or Arena.

Facts, I looked at the West Liberty State, Web site here is his accomplishments

College Carreer:

3- Time- ALL WVIAC,
3 -Time- All SUPER REGION ONE, PLAYER
3- Time - All American
Senior season Listed on 3 Different All American Teams
2 -Time - Pre -Season All American
2008- Ncaa Div -2 Line backer OF THE YEAR
2010- WVIAC - Defensive player OF THE YEAR
2011- Selected to All American Bowl, Team Captian
2011 -Selected to play in the Dixie grid Iron Classic Div-1 All star Game , started at Oslb.
Posted 326 carreer tackles 4th in school History
Posted -46 tackles for loss 3rd in school History
Posted 16 Tackles in single game in 2011 ( in top 10 in nation )

I would say alittle better than a fine player!

Yeah clay beeler is one of the best football players to ever come out of the SVC...rumor going around that hes tried out for the browns and some other teams im not so sure? its pretty sad that the best football player Huntington has ever had got treated like trash by the coach and it eventually ran Clay off which i was upset that he left Huntington but going to Chillicothe was the best decision for him to make...id like to see Sam Beeler come in and be the new coach Huntington can't keep the same coachs and expect to have success you have to start over..Sam is a big reason Clay's were hes at. His dad is deff a football guy and knows alot about the sport..

How did the Beeler's take over this post. Clay was a good player at Huntington and Chillicothe. Why did he go to Chillicothe, the chance to play at a higher level. Let's face it the SVC is small potatoes but I still like it. I joined to read about the SVC. However, the only posts I have found is the Huntington job. Now the Beeler's have taken it over. Whether Clay was good or not has nothing to do with who gets the job. I hope the people in Huntington decide soon.

Must be the daddy who gave the coach he is ripping fits thinking his little Johnny would be the next Heisman trophy winner.

How did Marquez run Beeler off? I thought his father just wanted to take him to a larger high school.

Beeler was a great player, no question. There was no way he was going to win the SVC those years by himself. His Junior year in week 10 he needed 26 yrds to break 1000. Unioto held him to 13. The offensive line was not that good. Again he was a great player. Very hard to game plan against on the offense and defense side of the ball.

Bengal
Beeler broke a 1000 before the Unioto game, Huntington had 3 good backs in Waterbury, Beeler, Kellough, and choose to go double tight power I and let the U put 11 players in the box, great coaching just another game lost because of not utilizing all the talent they had, poor game plan!

Again I agree he was a great talent but Huntington would not have won the SVC his senior year. ZT was loaded. Westfall Very good and Adena very good. Just dont see them winning all those games. I hope he makes it to the next level as he is a great kid and has worked his tail off to get where he is at. If he never plays another down of football he will go down as one of the top players ever to play in SVC. He made a good decision to go to Chillicothe to play. This enabled him to showcase his ability for the colleges. Not so sure he would have gotten the same opportunities at Huntington. That is not a slam on Huntington just that the colleges are not knocking the doors down to recruit the SVC.

And I stand by my statement he did not get the 1000. Unless someone messed up the stats given to the paper.
