Just a thought, but wouldn't it benefit everyone a lot more if after being up by 40+ Piketon slowed things down and tried to work on some passing and half court sets instead of going for 100? I understand that Western was turning the ball over like lightning but they still could have slowed things down and required 8 or so passes each possession before a shot was taken. No matter how superior you are to the opposition , an 80 pt win is an 80 pt win.

Piketon did on many occasions run their half court offense...western committed a million turnovers that led to lay-ups. No player is going to not take a wide open lay up. Coach Lisath tried very hard to keep the score to a minimum as best as he could. He was visibly frustrated that he won by 80. That's what I saw anyways.


Waverly is going to have to score in the 70's to even compete against Piketon and I honestly don't see that happening. Piketon by 20 plus.

Piketons starters played perhaps a quarter and a half. Their 2 full time back up players played about the same, the rest of the game was played by their JV players. Thats all a coach can do, those boys are taught during practice to play the same way their varsity does, full go get out and fill the lanes and score. You cant blame a kid who sees the varsity floor only a handful of times a year playing hard. Piketon emptied its bench, you guys do know even they only get so many quarters a year, and the JV at Piketon is playing a 19 game schedule. Only so many kids to put in. It didnt appear to me the Streaks were trying to score 100. I do recall the JV team in the 4th making several passes before a shot. It certainly could've been a lot worse (thank goodness the JV team got to dress). Plus two bench players were missing last night...(not sure why?).

It amazes me that people think that kids who rarely get to play should get in the game and play keep away. Those kids at the end of the bench work as hard as the starters. Take a beating in practice, run the same as Starter, and want to show what they can do to coach and fans. Yet some think they should just go through the motions. Was the score Ugly. Yea. But that is basketball. I remember a few games back in the 70s and early 80s being pretty lopsided the other way between Piketon and Western. NOw Bring on Waverly

Just some thoughts for the championship game between Piketon and Waverly. Expect a tough, hard played game from tip to final buzzer. Both of these teams play excellent man defense.

First, about Waverly. The Tigers must find a way to cut down on the turnovers. That was a major problem in the Eastern game as there must have been nearly 30. And Piketon will present more pressure and a lot more depth than Eastern offered. Secondly, if either Martin or Kretzer get in foul trouble, it could get away from the Tigers in a hurry. Thirdly, depth will be a problem for Waverly in this game as Piketon has at least 10 players and can sub frequently without losing much, if anything. Piketon plays a style which doesn't allow you to hold the ball for long, forcing an up and down the floor type of game. With the Tigers lack of depth, expect fatigue to be a problem.

For Piketon, the keys are for Legg and Brush to stay on the floor as much as possible and out of foul trouble. Legg because of what all he brings to the game on both ends and Brush because of the inside presence needed to neutralize Martin. If these two foul early, it puts the Streaks in a far more vulnerable position. Controlling Kretzer could be a problem for the Streaks. Although he didn't have a good game against Eastern, Kretzer is capable of going off at any time as he did against the Streaks his freshman year. The Streaks must also know where Kelly is in the half court offense as he hits open threes most of the time.

Now that I've filled in some free time here, I'll finally end by saying I expect a great effort by both teams and look forward to being up there in the cheap seats for a dandy clash between these two rivals.

Piketon should be the clear favorites against Waverly. They just have to many weapons for the tigers to handle. I will take the streaks by 18.

Tigers seem to be regressing...unless we're on fire, it will be a tall test come tomorrow night. These Steaks are for real...and, we really didn't even get a good look at them.

There is no way Piketon tried to run up the score, the 12th man played more or at least as much as any starter. I will tip my hat to Western, i thought all of there players handled themselves well, they played hard the whole game and gave it there best. There is alot to be said for the way that. As for the championship game, the guards from Waverly will have to play there A game to keep it close. Eastern did a good job with ball pressure and and getting in passing lanes. Piketon will do a great job at that and will make it very difficult to get one pass into there offense with the pressure they can bring. I hope it is as good a game as last year, that was well worth the price of admission
