Pfloyd's Elite 8 of Southern/SouthEast Ohio -Week 3
Pfloyd's Elite 8 of Southern/SouthEast Ohio -Week 3
... Finally getting the rankings in for the masses ... tough week for pfloyd last week with the start of chemo - Rds 1,2,3 - can safely say that IT "kicked my butt" ... had the weekend off to recover - Rd 4 is in the books with todays treatment, 4 more this week - looking at it as Week 1 was "scouting - getting the napkin stats on the treatment" NOW it's "game on" - looking to come out of this week better than last ...
... Looking at the records for "last weeks" top 8 ALL teams came through the week unblemished ... the Elite 8 finished 11-0 on the Week that Was ... some difficult games this week with the I'town Classic (ie. Ironton vs Cinn. Taft and Campbell Memorial... Chesapeake takes on a very athletic Africentric ball club) ... other than THAT however the rest of the list looks to hold serve in the week before Christmas ... Chillicothe hosts undefeated Marietta at the Hat to open SEOAL play ... Warren has the week before Christmas with a clean slate of games before returning to action vs winless Logan on the 28th ... Piketon recovers from their 3-0 road swing of this past week playing at the Oven vs Southeasthern ... Logan Elm takes on an improved Roundtown squad while Oak Hill finishes off the "pre-holiday" action taking on 0-5 Alexander ...

Re: Pfloyd's Elite 8 of Southern/SouthEast Ohio -Week 3
Looks good! I brought this post over from the other thread:
Tomorrow's SVC preview(once again, weather permitting)
Adena(0-4, 0-6) @ Huntington(1-3, 2-5)- Huntington's size and depth up front with cause major problems for the small Warriors. HHS' matchup zone will leave the possibility for Adena to stay close if they can knock down shots, but most of all, be patient. This games winner may not peak out of the 40's, as the Huntsmen play at a very slow pace. I'll take Huntington by 14.
Southeastern(1-3, 2-4) @ Piketon(4-0, 6-0)- There probably won't be a close SVC game played at The Oven all year. But, SE is finally fully healthy and is coming off of a major beatdown of West Union on Saturday, so they will have some confidence. Good guard play all around in this one, but Piketon's ability to just keep bringing waves of talented players at you will be the major difference in this one. Piketon wins this one by 18.
Zane Trace(2-2, 3-3) @ Westfall(1-3, 2-3)- ZT is coming off of 2 tough losses last week, while Westfall is riding high from a surprisingly easy win in Londonderry on Friday. This game will be much bigger this time next year, as both teams are super young. If either team wants to keep their extremely outside shot at a conference title alive, this is a must win. ZT will need to body up big time to deal with a big size disadvantage for them. A battle of good Sophomores up front should be the matchup to watch(Beam-ZT, Stonerock-WF). It's tough to win at the Dome, but ZT pulls this out by 5.
Paint Valley(3-1, 4-1) @ Unioto(4-0, 5-0)- This will be the WKKJ game of the night. Both teams are meeting higher expectations well in the W column and both teams are loaded with senior leaders. PV plays a tough zone, can Unioto force them out of it like they did when facing zones last week? That will be a big ?? in this one, along with, Can PV handle the Unioto defensive pressure? Should be a great game in Frenchtown, 3 of each team's 1st 5 have been decided in the closing moments(where seniors take over) and I believe this will be another one. Unioto by 3.
Hope all is well for you pfloyd and you can get out see some more HS basketball action by this time next week.

I hope you get to feeling better. Thanks for all the work you put in this, especially now that you are not feeling well.

Chesapeake is still 2-0. The game with Coal Grove was postponed with no make-up date in sight. Probably will be the last game of the season. Get well soon!

South Gallia travels to a very good team in Wahama. Wahama won their season opener against Miller by 40 points. Wahama is a tough place to play.

First off, Pfloyd our thoughts and Prayers are with you......Thank you for your hard worK and dedication to Southeastern Ohio Basketball, it is much appreciated by everyone on here.
Ironton has a tough test tonight against what seems to be a highly tauted Cincinnati Taft Team and another tough one tommorow night against Campbell Memorial. It's going to be an amazing couple days in Ironton with 10 great games of Basketball to watch at the CLASSIC.

Pfloyd,,,
Tickiing away the moments that make up a dull day
You fritter and waste the hours in an off hand way
Kicking around on a piece of ground in your home town
Waiting for someone or something to show you the way
PINK---This is not you,,,You show the way and do not wait
for someone---God Bless and keep on keeping on.....

Re: Pfloyd's Elite 8 of Southern/SouthEast Ohio -Week 3
SVC Rundown:
Piketon 75-45 over Southeastern. SE's Brown had a huge night but Piketon's TEAM and depth were just wayyy too much as they outscore the Panthers 45-25 in the 2nd half.
Westfall 75-62 over Zane Trace. Slight upset.
Huntington 74-47 over Adena.
Unioto 55-53 over Paint Valley. Unioto went 14-18 from the stripe(under 50% so far on the year as a team before tonight)
Top Performers:
Michael Brown, SE: 28 pts, 9 rebs
Evan Legg, PK: 25 pts
Ian Carle, ZT: 25 pts, 5 3's
Alek Stonerock, WF: 22 pts
SVC Standings:
Piketon 5-0, 7-0
Unioto 5-0, 6-0
Paint Valley 3-2, 4-2
Huntington 2-3, 3-5
Westfall 2-3, 3-3
Zane Trace 2-3, 3-4
Southeastern 1-4, 2-5
Adena 0-5, 0-7
Unioto travels to Piketon on Jan.7 when SVC play continues.
Other score:
Fairfield Union 47
Amanda Clearcreek 44
FU just couldn't pull away, didn't help that they were firing up 3's instead of winding down the clock, which did not make their coach very happy, but I doubt they will do that again. They were ahead comfortably the entire game, but AC got it to 45-42, but Barr knocked down a couple of FT's to stretch it out. Very impressed with his play as a Frosh, you can tell he's a coach's son. AC didn't quit and made it interesting, but a good road win in the MSL for the Falcons.

Wheelersburg 71
Waverly 68 in Overtime
Seriously, how dangerous is Waverly gonna be in the Southeastern sectional? They've lost twice in OT, another time with a FT with no time left. Tough losses so far, but they'll get under seeded and someone will have a very tough opening game.
0-4 with 2 D1 players and only one other one with expierence, they will be scary once they get seasoned a bit.

Re: Pfloyd's Elite 8 of Southern/SouthEast Ohio -Week 3
Your hard work with the Elite 8 is very appreciated Pfloyd!
Logan Elm defeated arch-rival Circleville tonight, I think the score was like 51 44 or something like that. Circleville was down early and it looked like it could be another big win for the Braves, but the Tigers clawed back, being within 3 at one point. However, they could never get over the hump to take the lead. Logan Elm didn't shoot the best tonight, but they have some big guys to go to underneath the hoop when the 3's aren't falling.
There was a pretty large crowd out there tonight. It was also pretty loud in the Mill Street Gym. I saw a couple times when the players couldn't hear the coaches or point guards, heck at one point the ref couldn't even hear Coach Stiverson call a timeout.

Peebles over Northwest 73-45....Indians played by far the worst quarter of the season in the third and it really let the mohawks claw back into the game. Blake Justice led the Indians with 30pts followed by Tyler Mcfarland with 17 and Andy Countryman with 16.

which starters were pulled in the third? any of them? after a 30 point halftime lead, did any kids have hot dogs in them at the start of the third?TribeManiac10 wrote:Peebles over Northwest 73-45....Indians played by far the worst quarter of the season in the third and it really let the mohawks claw back into the game. Logan Elm 51, Circleville 46
LOGAN ELM — Gabriel 0-2-2; Thomas 2-
6-11; Vagnier 1-1-4; Pritchard 3-0-6; Riffle 2-0-
5; Elswick 6-0-16; Stonerock 3-1-7. Three-point
goals — Elswick (4); Vagnier; Riffle and
Thomas. Totals — 17-28 10-21 51.
CIRCLEVILLE — Callihan 1-0-2; Hawkins
3-0-7; Dickey 3-1-7; Amey 2-0-4; Kiser 1-6-8;
Klinebriel 6-6-18. Three-point goals —
Hawkins. Totals — 16-29 13-19 46.
Quarter scores 1 2 3 4 F
Logan Elm 18 15 8 10 51
Circleville 9 13 14 10 46
Circleville is a much improved team. Very solid on defense. On offense, Klinebriel at 6-5 gives the Tigers a nice inside threat that has also made a big difference and loosened things up a bit on the perimeter for their guards.
Logan Elm shot the ball pretty well in the first half, but quite a few of those misses came in the third quarter. The pace was slower than what Logan Elm has played in the first four games.

Im not really sure what it was. They played a great first half and led by 28 going into halftime...came out lost the third quarter by 11 and then won the fourth by 11.jchitwood wrote:which starters were pulled in the third? any of them? after a 30 point halftime lead, did any kids have hot dogs in them at the start of the third?TribeManiac10 wrote:Peebles over Northwest 73-45....Indians played by far the worst quarter of the season in the third and it really let the mohawks claw back into the game.
