I read in the Athens Messenger where Federal Hocking is looking for a coach. I figured with so many great football minds on SEOPS. A willing and well qualified canidate would step up and lead the Lancers to a state title.

The sad thing is Fed will probably fill the spot with someone off of SEOPS. They like so many schools can't afford to hire a teacher-coach.

what old eastern head coach are you referring to? they've had 4 head coaches in the past 6 years. Newland, elliott, welsh, and tipton. then you go back to christman. :122248

a few years back they were talking that Fed would end up closing their school, any truth to this? it has something to do with funding

no, the school was is fiscal emergency a couple of years back, but i believe that they are out of the red now.

The problem with the coaching is they try to hire teacher/coaches at fed, they do not want to pay a full coaching salary, and if they are offering a direct salary its probably not much of one. They need to take the head coaching job a little more seriously and find someone who is going to stick around more than a year or two.

Never heard of these "full coaching saleries"...All coaching contracts in Ohio are suplemental..I don't think the School Board tries to find coaches who will only coach a year or 2 then leave. Federal Hocking isn't exactly an attractive job. I am sure they will find a good coach, when they do the community needs to get behind that coach, and all of the kids need to get there butts in the weightroom.

I sure they dont look for two year coaches but i played for fed all four years of high school and i had a different head coach 3 out of the 4 that i played. Any idea of who has applied for the job?

I currently play for FH, and we have a few new coaches applying for the opening. I feel that the opening shouldn't be shied away from because of previous records. As a whole we have a lot of unrefined talent and any coach should be diving for a job like this. (To take a not so good team and make them undefeated)
