Refs called an intentional foul on Jackson?????

51-50.....you can't call an intentional foul....obviously Jackson is going to foul.

Sounds like Jackson may have taken some quick shots with the lead in the 4th

Yes, some very questionable calls at critical points in the game. Really just the last 10 seconds. Jackson was bringing the ball up with less than 10 seconds left down 51-50, dribbling down the sidelines and the refs called a carry (wasn't much of a carry). It was a huge call at that point, with just 5 seconds left. Then, Jackson had to foul and did so. However, the intentional foul call was a bit of an overreaction, as everyone knew Jackson had to foul, but the girl did somewhat push her. It was questionable to say the least.

Both Jackson and Marietta had leads down the stretch with under 2 minutes left. Both teams were taking contested shots with the lead. I can understand a lay-up or an easy jumper uncontested, with the lead, but not these shots. It was a great game though.

Was the player who was called for a carry in the last 10 seconds called for the same violation anytime earlier in the game?

No, I don't believe there was any other carry call all game on any player. I'm not saying it shouldn't have been called, but with 5 seconds left it would have been interesting to see play out.

An interesting game to say the least. Game tied at 50 with 10 seconds and Jackson called its last time out with Marietta shooting 2 FT. Inbounds after FTand Jackson girls trapped in backcourt and a quick pass and maybe a TO if you had one. I don,t know if the girl called for the travel at this point was a player Jackson wanted to handle the ball. The intentional foul a bit over the top but made foul shots made retention of the ball a moot point. Jackson up I think by 6 points late in 4th had some critical turn overs. Both teams in the double bonus early with both teams having many opportunies at the foul line. Unofficialy Jackson 15-23 and Marietta 16-28. Just a running count and not the book. Marietta still must play at Logan, Jackson and Warren the second half but this win was big.

Before all the talk about tough calls lets remember that the officials are assigned by the league assigner who this year I believe is in Portsmouth. The officials were not from the Marietta area and in fact several Jackson fans were calling them by their first name when they were complaining to them. So, good game by both teams with Marietta making the plays in the fourth qtr to win this one. Jackson seemed to struggle with the zone pressure Marietta put on as it created several turnovers late. Jackson had one 10 second call in the first half and never really solved it in the second half enough to make Marietta pay for it. My take on the intentional foul was the player needs to make a play on the ball not just slap and shove. Most officials will give you the benefit if you just go for the ball.

Marietta stays alive and remains one back of Logan as the first half comes to a close soon. Jackson falls two behind and now needs help from someone else to climb back into it. Marietta goes to Logan and Jackson in the second half of the season while Jackson must go to Logan.

About the flagrant foul call. Whether there be 10 seconds left in the game, or 1 minute gone in the first quarter, A hard foul like that will and should be an intentional foul to protect the players. I was right by the foul and thought it was deserved. I didnt see the carry, I was blocked out, however, a carry is a carry, no matter when it occurs time wise in the game. Jackson has a great team and has improved tremendously. It sometimes is alot easier to blame referees, than find things we need to improve on to make our selves and our teams better. The kids are human and will make mistakes. Referees also.

12-2 run for Marietta in the last 3:44....there is the problem.....good play and smart shots will overcome a bad call.

Gotta move on.

Actually, Jackson was down 50-44 in the 4th and then went on a 6-0 run to tie it at 50-50. Not sure where you got the info but the paper is wrong as well.

But you're right about one thing... it is time to move on!

You're correct in that Jackson did lead for most of the game and the score was 40-36 Jackson at the end of the 3rd but Marietta went on a run to go up 48-42. Then Jackson scored to cut the lead to 48-44 but then Marietta responded with a score of their own to go up 50-44. Finally Jackson went on a 6-0 run to tie the game at 50 all. Marietta then scored the final four to end the game at 54-50.

When the score was 48-42 Marietta I remember thinking it was over and that Jackson had no chance to come back. This is coming from someone who was actually at the game and I'm not directing this to you md2020.

Marietta paper had Marietta with 18 turn overs and Jackson with 25. Both teams need to cut down on the turnovers to make a run on Logan. Does anyone have the shooting percentage for the game on both team? Fouls & foul shots were about even if the paper had it right.
