Re: Unioto @ Piketon 1/7/11
Excuses??? Players being sick and the stats are facts. Just because you post more doesn't mean that everyone else's comments are irrelevant. Show some some respect, thanks

Re: Unioto @ Piketon 1/7/11
I'd like to know what actual happened, not players were sick, Unioto played perfect(which even without seeing, I'll fully disagree with), 40% from the line(48% was the actual number, so not that far off)
Re: Unioto @ Piketon 1/7/11
The number one excuse made by a losing fan: the refs.
Piketon is the better team. They overcame a poor shooting night and made plays down the stretch. Unioto didn't, however I was very impressed by their effort. They wanted it more. Best game I've seen Unioto play in 3 games. Good luck to both teams. Camp Sherman--isn't it past your bedtime?

And also, not that Unioto got screwed either, because that's another big excuse and doesn't explain anything from the game. You change your game to adjust to the officials, so unless they just start handing out technicals for no reason, they don't fully effect the outcome.
Also, Bear42, that wasn't directed towards you, but to follow up my last post.

Re: Unioto @ Piketon 1/7/11
Piketon was outplayed in the final 3 periods. I don't have stats but i'll bet the got out rebounded by quite a few. Some calls were questionable (the charge on legg wasn't a charge, and the poke from behind on Unioto wasn't one either, but it was both ways). Piketon struggled shooting the ball, but being sick shouldn't be used a excuse, Unioto played outstanding defense and put pressure on them all ngiht.
Re: Unioto @ Piketon 1/7/11
I will just simply stating that Piketon didn't play well and Unioto did. Sorry if that wasn't enough info for you. Unioto was able to break Piketon's press and their zone defense gave us fits. Piketons guards didn't get much dribble penetration and that led to every shot being contested. Unioto out rebounded Piketon and made most of their fg's in the paint. Evan played sick and couldn't put up the 20 plus as he usually does. Unioto played with a lot of confidence and by keeping the game close they had even more. Piketons man to man defense was the difference maker down the stretch though.
Re: Unioto @ Piketon 1/7/11
The refs were older, a little trouble getting up and down the floor. Pretty sure none of them had teeth. But didn't see that they were horrible. I didn't think Piketon looked very good tonight. It was a good thing Brush had a very good game the second half.
Re: Unioto @ Piketon 1/7/11
I agree. I thought there were some questionable calls on both sides. Everyone must admit though that those guys were comical. I may have to stop watching southern Ohio basketball and follow those guys around.
Anyone know when the rematch is? If Unioto plays hard like they did tonight they could be playing for at least a share of the title. Piketon could be bitten by someone else with a shooting display like that.

Bear42- I believe it's on 2/11 or 2/4, one of the 2.
I've been avoiding complaining about officials since taking a step back, because frankly, there aren't many good ones around anymore. We've got some young guys, who you know, played the game starting to get into it, so hopefully they can help recify that.

Even if a bad call was made, it was a little easier to take just watching the mechanics of these fellas. Just hilarious at times. lol

Re: Unioto @ Piketon 1/7/11
Unioto had a good game plan and executed it to the best of their ability. Piketon jumped out to a 12-0 start then went on a drought. Couldnt buy a basket. Unioto led 20-17 at the half. First Half ended with Brush, Farmer and Vulgamore on bench in foul trouble. Piketon started the second half with Legg still in the Lockerroom sick. Piketon and Unioto traded baskets to start the second half. In the third qtr the officials began to call the game a little tighter thus leaving both teams in foul trouble. In fourth qtr. bad calls both ways thought Detillions 5th foul should have gone other way. Leggs Charge was a foul on Davis. Cole cleanly picked ball. and Hills foul on Vulgamore should have been intentional. Great game as a fan. Everyone got their moneys worth. To say Piketon was overrated. I thought they played well through adversity. Braniff (who over the past 4 games has been most consistant except Legg) did not play due to illness. Legg has fought flu all week. Others on the team sick. No excuse you play the game. Jamie Helton played a great game tonight both offensively and Defensively. He held Unioto
s Leading scorer to 5 pts. 10 pts below his average. For Unioto Dunkle and Detillion both had 14pts. Lots of emotion showed on both teams and tempers flaired. Again as a fan great game to watch. This game could have gone either way. Can't wait for the rematch.

Re: Unioto @ Piketon 1/7/11
great post bengalfan, i do disagree with one thing however, when hill went up on the one you thought should have been intentional, he actually had his hand on top of the ball, but his bod went into him. i thought it was the right call. i also thought brush should have been t'd up for the shove, and hockey move he put on the uhs guy. props to coach lisath though for removing him from the game and not putting him back in for the half. he showed his players that it was not going to be tolerated. On the no calls down low when detillion went up for the layup, the officials have to call something, call a charge, call a block, call something, that is how injuries happen. should definatly be great game on the return trip to unioto.
Re: Unioto @ Piketon 1/7/11
I was at the game but cannot remember if Legg even shot a free throw? If not wonder if he has ever played in a game and not shoot a free throw in his high school career? Unioto played with heart tonight the redstreaks had to play with adversity with braniff not there and your go to guy in the locker room possibly being sick I don't know i wasn't in the locker room. Thought that Moore was a key player with his hustle. The rematch will be something to see and I plan on being there.

Re: Unioto @ Piketon 1/7/11
The Chef is going to take a long look at the menu for the Redstreaks. After speaking with someone very close to the team after the game last night, had 3 players throwing up before, during, and after the game and one laying at home unable to attend. That was nearly half the team. Wouldn't want to be the janitor cleaning up that Piketon locker room. Bring out the fire hose.
On the other hand players and coaches found a way to win against a Unioto team that played an excellent ball game. Hope everyone made it home safely as it was treacherous driving after the game.
Fun game to watch and The Oven crowd was something special tonight. Good luck to both teams.

Re: Unioto @ Piketon 1/7/11
The refs were poor, no doubt about it, but they gave the agame to Piketon? Take off the purple-tinted glasses and look at the game unobjectively. There was little consistently with their block/charge calls, often overlooking the initial foul and calling the less glaring subsequent one. Pushing and shoving was overlooked unless it ocurred on a shot. Both teams got some breaks, both teams got screwed. What I found amazing was that neither coaching staff got T'd up, and no players got into any altercations. The entire evening made for a stomach-churner at the scorers table.CampShermanCommando wrote:Refs gave the game to Piketon. We are the better team. Hey Chef - what did you cook up on Thursday's pre-game meal to mess with their stomachs? Better take a look at that recipe, huh? I suggest the Pepto Bismol to calm it down, maybe some Tums will do the trick.

Excuses....Excuses...Excuses....!
Unioto= the refs cheated :122246 (life on the road can be tough)
Piketon= Braniff didn't dress, Legg, Brabson, Farmer had the flu
(playing sick is all a part of the game)
Bottom line....Piketon wins...who cares about the score and all of that other stuff...when you look at the records it will say W or L.
Great game by both teams....This one is over and in the books...get ready for ZT.

Correct. Piketon did the one thing that should've been expected out of them, win at home. Unioto had a great effort, but came up short this time. Should be another great game when they match up on 2/11. Hopefully, both teams take care of business until then, would make it even more fun.
Unioto has Adena on Tuesday, so both teams should get easy W's, but as you said, life on the road can be tough and both are on the road Tuesday. Good luck to both teams.
