Really? I'm not that big a basketball fan, but which schedule would you rather play? By the way, I think Portsmouth is the better team and should have the higher seed, but Ironton has an easier schedule?

Portsmouth:
Jan. 22 Marietta
Jan. 28 Jackson
Feb. 1 Chillicothe
Feb. 4 @ Marietta
Feb. 11 Gallia Academy
Feb. 18 @ Logan

Ironton:
Jan. 22 @ Chesapeake
Jan. 29 Waverly
Feb. 1 Gallia Academy
Feb. 5 @ Huntington, WV
Feb. 8 Wheelersburg
Feb. 11 @ Manchester
Feb. 12 Hurricane, WV
Feb. 15 Huntington Prep, WV
Ironton has a much harder schedule the rest of the way out.

Yup, you guys are right. I went on maxpreps, read the schedule...don't know what I was thinking. Maybe I was reading last year's. Withdrawn.

Chesapeake has a clear shot to the Regional Finals.....the bracket is favorable, however anything can happen in the tournament.

I am not enough of an expert to know how the brackets work....there seems to be good arguments from both Chesapeake and Portsmouth fans about making it to Columbus. If both teams win out and get the 1 and 2 seed in Jackson, when would they eventually meet? Would that be the finals like Chesapeake-Ironton last year? This is just hypothetically speaking. Anything can happen between now and then.

St Clairsville 12-0 lead by star Daniel Monteroso has a good shot at the sweet 16 if they make it.

#1 Seed from Waverly versus the #4 Seed Jackson , winner plays the winner of, #2 Athens vs. #3 Jackson.

#1 Jackson vs. #4 Athens winner to play winner of #2 Waverly vs. #3 Athens .

#1 Athens vs. #4 Waverly to play winner of #2 Jackson vs. #3 Waverly winner.

Eastern- This has to be one of the more obvious posts of all-time :122245 ...but I will say that I really enjoys your posts, just wanted to point this out.

And after looking at how the brackets are set up, I would say that the #2 in Jackson(Portsmouth) would have the best road to the Regionals, as Chesapeake would have to beat either Peebles or Piketon(assuming they would get there) in the District Finals.

The #1 seeded bracket from Jackson will avoid any other Jackson Sectional team until the Regional Finals.

So if Chesapeake is the #1 seed and assuming that they win their sectional, they would avoid the #2, 3, and 4 seeded brackets out of Jackson until the Regional Final.

Would that have anything to do with a certain coach being on the committee that makes the brackets?????? :122246
Answer: Yes

expert witness wrote:why are several people on here ranking fairland over meigs in the Athens sectional????? these two teams have played head to head and Meigs won the game. meigs is the CEAR CUT number 1 seed in the athens secional at this point.
They have really slipped as of late! Kind of surprised in that too

my prediction:
(1) Meigs (unless they continue to lose.must get back on track immediately! TVC schools
simply wont allow fairland to have this spot. meigs won the head to head match-
up vs fairland)

(2) Fairland (probably most athletic team with the best players)

(3) Alexander (this should be southeastern but blaine will hit the campaign trail and get the
votes for this spot)

(4) Southeastern (this team and fairland are the two teams i would want to avoid)

(5) Wellston (yes they have 8 wins but only 4 or 5 of them are legit and everyone at the
draw knows it. lost to meigs at home and got destroyed by Alex twice. TVC
voting power keeps them ahead of RV)

(6) River Valley ( well coached team that could surprise a higher seed. last team in this
sectional with a shot at the convo)

(7) Nelsonville (TVC keeps them ahead of a better Zane Trace team)

(8) Zane Trace

(9) Belpre

(10) Fed Hock

(11) Crooksville

Expert Witness - Wellston beat a 10 - 3 Vinton County team. Nobody else in the this sectional other than Wellston and Meigs has defeated Vinton County including the above mentioned Southeastern, Alex or River Valley which all were defeated by the Vikings. Wellston has won 7 - 8 games. They play 4 Soph. and 3 Jr. They have really improved since the beginning of the season. Alex did beat Wellston twice and Meigs once but has a overall losing record and they didnt beat VC either time. So your comments have very little credibility. The Meigs loss was Wellstons second game and the Alex loss was their third game. They have 8 wins and only 5 losses. They have won 7 - 8 since. They are deserving of a 2 or 3 seed as much as anyone at this time. They, like everyone else in the sectional must keep proving themselves. I do not agree with your perception of the situation. You have your opinion and I have mine which is perfectly fine. Wellston has played as consistent as anyone in the sectional. Let the discussions begin.
